RL Remodeling

I hired RL after reading their reviews and seeing their Instagram page to do my backyard pool remodel. The project timeline took longer than expected, but the job was completed (Signed contract March 15th for a 5 week project, finished May 27th).  While the backyard looks beautiful from afar they could have taken better care with the detail in the coping and the tiling. The pavers look great and I am very happy with how those turned out- but take note, this company does not seal the pavers.  If that's something you want, make sure to include it in your contract (and you will definitely want it for pavers around a pool otherwise your pool deck turns into a beach full of sand when water hits it).  We hit a few bumps along the road, but RL Remodeling did their best to resolve the issues.  One positive note to mention is that they did give me a credit for the work that a subcontractor had to do.  Also, Ben had his electrician hang some string lights for me (which was not specified in my contract) and that made me happy. All in all, I'm happy with the overall look of my backyard and satisfied with the level of customer service I received. I would prefer to give them 3.5 stars, but Suzi in the main office went above and beyond in helping to resolve issues so 4 stars it is. She always puts her customers first. More...

Tal and his team are great! They did lighting/electric, framing, drywalling, painting and more for me at my home in woodland hills.  Whenever something unexpected happened, Tal handed with integrity, keeping true to his word -  a rare thing in the construction business.  I hope that their honesty gets rewarded with more work from other homeowners.  I look forward to doing a bathroom remodel with Tal and his team next. BEWARE. My husband and I trusted this company with our home backyard remodeling and new pool.  The project took over 1 year with many mistakes.  1) incorrect graining of the pool level (still looks off) 2) worried on the people they hired did not seemed professional 3) work was very slow, days or weeks with no show 4) some materials used were poor quality 4) Management was not professional at times  5) Lied through the entire project to us 6) After the project was completed we have continued to to experience so many problems with my pool and management has not followed up properly.  I've called them over six months since my pool keep draining water. I'm paid electricity, water and pool supplies double the cost since the work was done poorly.  It's been very disappointing for my husband and I since we spent so much money on the project and expected that they deliver on their promise (not else). I can't speak highly enough of RL Remodeling - they literally saved our home. After working with two previous contractors who abandoned our home and basically left it on stilts, RL took on the not so easy task of completing a half-finished house. Due to our previous experiences, we were (understandably) hesitant to place our trust in any other contractors. But as soon as we found RL, our worries disappeared. Our project manager Tal S. has been absolutely phenomenal. He is extremely organized and proactive. He takes care of problems before they arise, so half the time, we never even hear about them. He was on site daily for the duration of the project, and he was easy to reach after hours if anything went wrong. Tal was really able to understand our design reference points and help point us towards materials/designs that worked within our budget. He had a lot of great suggestions throughout the process which we were very grateful for. We have now moved in, and Tal has made himself available to help with any new home issues that arise. Francisco, the primary worker on our project, is a jack of all trades. He is clearly experienced and does quality, artisan work at a fast pace. While RL provided us with a great team, Francisco independently took our home to the cosmetic finish line. We were very grateful to have such a talented and reliable worker on site. Another great worker, José, helped us with some final touches when we moved in - he was delightful, helpful, and eager to help out on any minor details post-move, like hanging extra shelves and painting the front door. We also really appreciated that RL had an office manager, Suzy, who was also easy to reach if our project manager or workers were busy on another site. RL took our house from literal collapsing foundations and bowing floorboards to a safe home of our dreams. We can't thank them enough for all of their work, and we've already re-hired them to work on the exterior of our house (deck, roof, etc.). Before hiring RL, we made the mistake of cutting corners and going with the cheapest companies - we got what we paid for. Our project was fairly simple: the conversion of a carport to a garage. Ben was always very responsive and quick to return our calls. He always showed up for appointments right on time. The garage was constructed exactly as we wanted it to be and we had no problems nor complaints with any of the men working on the job. All of the workers took pride in doing the best work possible. Ben always made certain that we were pleased with each component of the project.

I would most certainly hire RL Remodeling for any future projects and would be very comfortable recommending them to friends. More...

Cannot say enough good things about RL Remodeling. We had a large garage in our backyard which they turned into an ADU for us. This was a big project since we had to satisfy the historian preservation ordinance in our neighborhood while at the same tearing down pretty much the whole garage and starting again.

Ben B and his guys were there from design all the way through to completion. Their work was exceptional, their price competitive (we interviewed 2 other contractors), and the ability to get Ben easily on the phone and for them to make adjustments when requested outstanding.
Of course, like any job, nothing is totally smooth, I have not heard of one that is, but most of our delays were actually due to the city and the LADWP.

Beyond anything else it was Ben's friendly and unruffled demeanor that made what is inherently a stressful exercise so much less so. I have heard horror stories from friends of surly contractors and changing attitudes as the project progresses but with Ben and RL they never treated us any differently and stayed with us right up until the very last change we needed. Working with contractors is inherently a pain, but dealing with Ben and his crew was honestly a pleasure! They did a great job remodeling our kitchen, but when little things weren't quite up to what we wanted, easily made corrections per our requests without any complaining or pushbacks. Also, they did the work without going over costs and actually gave us credit for work that was done by a subcontractor that we picked to install the new granite countertops. Definitely recommend! If you're looking for a contractor who won't give you the typical headache associated with dealing with contractors, go with RL Remodeling.  Not only was the process as smooth as remodeling can get, the results were fantastic!  We picked RL after interviewing 3 other contractors.  Their prices were competitive with others, but our project manager Ben L. made the difference with his friendly and "I'll put you first" demeanor (he also had exceptional references).  I thought it was only going to be like that before we signed the contract, but no - Ben really does care about delivering the best customer service experience to his customers (we also got to work with Ben B. later on in the process and he's the same way too!).  Our house was already remodeled by the seller when we bought it, but we wanted to mainly replace the existing master bathroom tub with a larger standing steam shower, expand the master closet, among other things.  We can't say enough about the outcome of the master bathroom shower, which was the largest and most exciting part of the project after many Pinterest saves - the final dimensions, features, and tiling work are absolutely beautiful.  As a first time remodeler, I wasn't sure what to expect and wanted to be on top of everything at all times - and that's what Ben did.  I would get texts or calls from him almost on a daily basis to let us know about progress and any unforeseen issues.  It felt like we had a friend working at the jobsite.  Any time we reached out to him, he would always respond promptly - this kind of interaction really put our minds at ease throughout the process.  Ben and his team were honest and fair which is what we really appreciated.  I feel like there are so many things a non-professional would not know about remodeling and construction and therefore would rely on the contractor's expertise; therefore, trusting the integrity of your contractor, which we did, is absolutely critical.  Ben and his team also worked late and on weekends to deliver on time, something else we really appreciated.After the remodel (during which we worked briefly with Ben B.), we faced some pre-existing plumbing issues that weren't really related to RL's work (but impacted the workability of the new shower).  Instead of just saying "see ya" Ben B. came out to personally see to it that our issue would be resolved and followed up with calls and texts to check in - that was impressive because it really had nothing to do with their work.  At last, the RL team resolved the plumbing issue for us (they aren't even plumbers!).Finally, after it was all said and done, Ben L. came out to check in on us and the outcome - again, I felt like I was treated like a friend (he even helped me with carrying a big package up my steep driveway because he happened to be there at the time of my furniture delivery - thank you!).All in all, we are extremely pleased with the job the Bens and the team did at our place.  We have a few more updates in mind, and we'll definitely be reaching back out to RL for more work in the future. RL Remodeling did a fantastic job overall with the construction project we gave them. They remodeled our master bathroom and kitchen. Both of the construction projects were competitively priced(we had 5 bids total) and RL Remodeling had the best price point with the best turnaround time, and seemed to be the most organized. I loved the approach of RL Remodeling. They are communicative regarding each phase of your home improvement project. They are productive and extremely vigilant when working inside your home. The RL Remodeling team are construction and design experts. There’s no question about that after witnessing some of their previous work and from the testimonials of several customers. This is what encouraged me to do business with them right off the bat. My husband and I have been discussing getting our kitchen done for quite awhile now, but we lacked the knowledge and experience in picking the right company. More than their ability to get to the job done, it was their companies honesty and integrity that was first and foremost during our remodeling. No job is without its problems, especially for a home that was built in 1952. Those minor problems that did show up, were promptly corrected. RL Remodeling did such an amazing job on completely remodeling my house. I had a very clear vision in terms of design and how I wanted it to look, but I did end up making a lot of small changes. Regardless, Ben was very accommodating and agreed to help me do these changes on short notice.Contractors are important especially because there are SO many bad contractors out there.
