What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
This depends on the type of photography you are doing, but there are some general factors. A great photograph draws the viewer in, keep them interested, and invokes an emotional response. It also has good composition and proper exposure. For portraits it should show the person's personality, best features and capture emotion or action of the moment. For events the photos should document all the activities at the event and show they enjoyment and emotions of those involved. For commercial, product and architecture , a good photo portrays the object in a positive, dynamic way that best illustrates the object with proper lighting.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
When starting any photo shoot, it is important to understand the what the client is looking for and what their expectations are. The photographer is there to offer his services and expertise, but the client is the priority. So on any shoot I consult with the client first to be able to know what I need to do/bring and be able to give them a price.Questions would include amount of time needed, any travel, how they want the final product.
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to freeze a moment of time forever, whether it be a person, scenic, concert or event. By nature, I am a creative, artistic person and photography allows me to combine work with my artistic passion
What inspired you to start your own business?
While much of my career has been working for commercial and portrait studios, as well as 22 years as the chief media photographer of a major university, I have always pursued my passion of photography on my own as an editorial, fine art and event photographer.
Why should our clients choose you?
My 40 years as a professional photographer covering a diverse variety of photographic fields gives me the experience to handle any job. When hired to do photography for a client, my job is to provide quality photos of whatever the subject is.
