Rachel recently photographed my youngest grandsons. Ryan was half asleep when we arrived and was very unsure about having his picture taken by a stranger. . Rachel eased him into it and got some great pictures. Sean was very happy to go off with her because she was so kind and easy going. The most difficult part of the whole process was deciding which pictures to buy. They were all so beautiful! She also photographed the teenagers and got some really great shots of them as well. Still have to decide on that package! I would highly recommend Rachel Smook to anyone looking for a photographer!!!!!!!!!!! More...

Rachel has the eye! She took the photos for my band's last album, and they are absolute show stoppers. Somehow she managed to capture the feeling of our music AND the essence of our personalities - not an easy feat with band photography! It was actually pouring during our indoor/outdoor shoot, and toward the end of our session we started goofing off and jumping in puddles. She managed to capture the joy of that moment and gave us a candid photo that is so unique and eye-catching that we get constant compliments on it. Most band photography looks the same and we're really proud to have these shots. One word of caution - don't work with Rachel if you don't also want to make a new, super cool friend, because guaranteed she will make you laugh your face off and you'll be chatting it up by the end of your session. Rachel Smook is a gifted portrait photographer and artist. This was our first time using a professional photographer for family pictures, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Our two boys (6 and 7 at the time) generally refuse to cooperate for informal photos, I hate being photographed (and seeing myself in pictures), and my husband bristles at the idea of "posed" photographs. During the outdoor session, though, magic happened. Rachel calmly put us at ease and playfully engaged the kids. I hoped there would be a few good shots, but in any event, the time with Rachel gave us space to enjoy being a family without daily life's distractions and demands.In that space, Rachel captured everything I had hoped for and so much more. My first reaction, upon watching the slideshow of images a couple of weeks later, was to burst into tears. There we were, looking happy and natural and like ourselves. It was like looking at the best of who each one of us is. I am grateful to Rachel for focusing her artistry on what mattered and framing those moments beautifully.
