We usually aren't in this part of Massachusetts often, but had an event and read some good reviews - so we stopped by for an early dinner. This place fills up quickly, and I can see why. Super busy, super loud spot for all the locals. I don't drink but this place seems to be all about craft beer. Despite all that I really enjoyed this place. The menu was very interesting with lots of great looking offerings. I ultimately tried the Poutine appetizer and the Cauliflower Fried Rice with salmon entrée. Both were excellent and filling. Great comfort food and UNBELIEVABLE portion sizes. We loved this place. Loud but friendly atmosphere. Like a good hangout place. Nice bar side too. Great service. So many apps but my daughter wanted to order poutine, potato croquettes and a giant pretzel for appetizers which was huge. All were great. Now her Mac and cheese arrived and it's way too much. Eyes too big for her belly...just like Daddy!I had the bacon wrapped meatloaf and my wife went for the tacos made with braised short ribs which were both excellent and recommended. For dessert we had a giant, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie topped with ice cream which was tasty and enough for all three of us. Highly recommended for a pleasant night out with comfort food. Great beer menu. No soups at all. Maybe that's a summer thing, hopefully something will show up in the fall. Very loud, they need some noise suppression. Akin to a local Friday's, has a good number of options on the menu. Tried the spicy peanut butter burger but its rather light on the peanut butter -- it's overpowered by the jalapenos. Still enjoyable but unbalanced. Can see someone else easily giving this spot a full five. More...

The food was delicious. We order the Sword Fish which came with avocado, crab, zucchini, and asparagus. Also, order the steak tips. Very yummy! Now the service was terrible. I called to make a reservation and I was told is first come first serve. When I get there the restaurant was packed and I had to wait for the table outside as the person that reserved it was not sure if they wanted to seat outside. I was a bit disappointed because again they told me no reservation. We waited about 5 minutes, not big deal as we were excited to try the food. Once we sat a waitress came over introduced herself and went to get us drinks. While she was getting drinks another waitress came over and tossed the menus on our table. I wanted to leave right away but I just ignored and kept calm. No one ever came to check if we needed anything or if we liked the food. I left a tip but was hesitant to do so. I ate here with my daughter a few nights ago and enjoyed it so we Wanted to come here to eat with my wife at 8:30 this Sunday evening but when arrived they said the kitchen was closed. They close at 9 and said they usually close kitchen at 9:30 but randomly decided to close it early. This is BAD Business. This place is quickly becoming a family favorite! We have been to Public Kitchen about 3 times now and each experience was great! Yes, you have to wait an extra minute when you arrive during prime dinner time, but it's never a long wait and it's worth it. Everything on the menu is delicious. My husband and I were in the area visiting and decided to stop here. Boy are we glad we did! They have a great selection of craft, drafts, bottled beers, a full bar, and crafty mixed drinks! The strawberry shortcake martini was delicious! The food was amazing! I got the lamb burger, it was juicy, cooked just right, and the flavors or the goat cheese and caramelized onions was scrumptious! My husband got the fish tacos which were fresh and had great flavors! The bartenders were great! I didn't feel we waiting long like other reviews but if you want a quick in and out then I'd suggest calling ahead and picking up your order. They had a ton takeout orders that we observed going out which that tell me people enjoy their food here. I'll preface this review by saying I'm sympathetic to the disruptions/circumstances COVID has brought upon the food industry as a whole. That being said, we are 2 years into it at this point. We've all learned to deal.I went here Saturday afternoon around 2pm, place was busier than I would have expected. The person we were meeting had been sat without any acknowledgment for 10 mins before my guest and I arrived. We waited an additional 15-20 mins to be acknowledged.We finally had to go ask the host for someone to come to our table. We ordered drinks, first 2 beers I tried to order were no longer on rotation. To order you have to scan the QR code on the table, no hard copy menus. I get the whole no hard copy menu thing, but if that's the case, please make sure your menus are up to date. I was told I could look at the blackboard that was against a random wall for up to date selections. Maybe have the list directly behind the bar where people could see? Either way, I don't want to have to go walk around and hover over people or get in servers way to order a beer.My 2 friends ordered cocktails - it took about 20 mins for those to come because the bar was busy. Drinks and food arrived at the same time for context.I had the black bean burger, it was okay. Certainly not worth the whole process to finally get it. Like I said earlier, I get that places are short staffed. But if that's the case, and you don't have enough help to tend to all the tables - maybe you should cut back. I personally wouldn't seat people at tables you know you can barely serve. It would be better to operate at half capacity instead of pushing yourselves to a limit where your staff and patrons are disgruntled. We would have stuck around and had more drinks, but seeing as it took so long to get the single drinks we ordered and food, we decided to continue our afternoon elsewhere. I don't fault the servers for that, they are doing their best to handle what they were dealt. Shame on management/the owners. This is a very family friendly restaurant. My husband and I had lunch here with our 3 small children. It's plenty loud enough that their noises didn't stand out. Our server was Brittany. She was very present and friendly. The draft beer list has a nice selection. There are also plenty of kids menu options. Both kids very much appreciated the ice cream cup that comes with the kids meals. I had the massive, but delicious short rib and mozzarella grilled cheese. It was a little on the greasy side. Having dined here multiple times in the past, the food was delicious. Previous servers were very accommodating of a gluten sensitivity and the food always arrived hot and delicious. Today I recommended a friend and I revisit Public Kitchen because of how good everything usually is. We sat around for 20 minutes, made eye contact with many staff members, and watched a family walk in, be seated and greeted. Love PK so much. Been coming here for a couple years now and I've never left disappointed. The nachos and buffalo cauliflower are a fan favorite. The entrees are always so amazing. There is now a new menu. Old classics like an old fashioned public burger and plentiful nachos with all the trimmings still remain as menu items, but they now added delicious potato croquets in like a hollandaise sauce eggplant parm crepes. The French onion soup seems like it is here to stay which is excellent. Today, there was a turkey, gravy,stuffing, cranberry sauce special sandwich with fries and I could not finish it all since it filled me up that good. The service is great as usual and it was a great place to watch the pats game and bucs game at the same time at their nice long bar. Disappointing. It took a long time for the hostess to even be at the front of the restaurant. Once we were seated, we barely got service. They use an online menu that forces you to look at an ad for 10 seconds before you can look at menu items. Everything was overpriced. $18-20 for a burger. $2 for each serving of a fountain drink (~12oz), no free refills. Our overconfident waitress got our order wrong. The music was loud and the tables were so close together, I didn't really feel safe (in that were still in a pandemic). The food was decent, but absolutely not worth the price or the bad experience.
