What do you love most about your job?
We love that we get to be an extension of our pets' family and bring the same love and care to them when their owners are away. It brings us great joy to be enriching their lives by giving them the exercise, attention and breaks that they deserve.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Shawn Frick, founder of Prairie Path Pet Care, spent 10 years grooming and growing his dream, dealing with the challenges and risks that come with entrepreneurship, and now enjoys the rewards of providing outstanding services to animals and their owners through Prairie Path. Once a few doors opened in 2011 the vision became clear, and the opportunity possible. After careful planning, it was in 2013 that Prairie Path Pet Care first opened for business and started caring for the pets of Wheaton and it’s surrounding cities. It’s success has allowed us to take the topnotch care that Prairie Path delivers to Crystal Lake, IL, Park Ridge, IL and even out-of-state down in Nashville, TN.
Our mission statement states “We’re a local business, owned, managed and staffed by pet lovers who understand the importance of treating animals like they’re part of the family. We live in the neighborhoods we service and we offer the most professional and reliable pet care of its kind in the Chicagoland and Nashville area.” We apply our mission through expressing wholeheartedly, to our clients, that they and their pets are part of our Prairie Path family. We’re proud to take care of the neighborhoods we cater to!

Prairie Path Pet Care cares about providing peace-of-mind to their pet parents. Our clients need to be able to trust us implicitly which is why we provide account management software that allows our clients to directly manage their pets schedule, profile, as well as payments. Each visit includes a GPS map that shows where their walker went on the walk as well as notes and pictures that are provided after each appointment. Each of our walkers and sitters go through a phone interview, in-person interview, background check and reference check prior to coming on board with Prairie Path. We W2 our walkers which we feel establishes an appropriate and meaningful relationship between employer and employee and allows the kind of oversight that clients and pet care companies should value.
