Short update - we've now used Portland Mutt Strut three times and are booking our fourth. They are legit, top notch, pet caregivers! And for a reasonable price no less. Brenda has gotten to know our pets and we never worry about them when they're in Brenda's care. It's like they get a sleepover with their buddy while mom and dad are away. I honestly cannot recommend Portland Mutt Strut enough! More...

I'm updating my review because I realize that none of my previous updates emphasizes the value of using a pet care company that employs multiple individuals.  While Portland Mutt Strut is owned by one person, she has other team members, and this was invaluable when I needed pet care while the owner was unavailable.  This has happened a couple of times, so it is very comforting to know that there are other team members familiar with my cats' needs who can step in and provide the care that I need.  These other team members have been trained by the owner by having them accompany her on previous visits.  This sort of cross-training is evidence of the exceptional management and care offered by this company!  THANK YOU! Patricia and her team provided loving care for our dog-child for almost two years. We were fortunate to have been able to rely on the team for regular walks, special overnight care and ad hoc needs. We always knew he was in great hands. More...

Patricia from Portland Mutt Strut was exceptionally professional and caring for our special needs kitty who needed twice-daily medications for a week. Our cat is not easy to pill and is a notorious hider, but Patricia worked with us to develop a plan for making sure she received her meds in a timely and comfortable way. She worked with our housesitter once we were out of town and texted/emailed us regular updates on Pants (our cat). We were nervous about Pants getting her medications (she is on steroids and consistency is VERY important), but Patricia set our minds at ease on her first in-home visit. Highly recommend Mutt Strut if you need assurance that your furry pal gets their medications. More...

Unlike other dog walkers in the downtown Portland area, Patricia and her team don't mind going the extra mile (literally) for someone's pet. Patricia took the time to get to know both my dogs and understand their individual needs. She worked with them for a month before she played matchmaker with her staff and found the perfect walker, Jason, for my critters. They LOVED him from the first time they met him. He's a confident guy and can easily handle my boy who is still working on polite leash skills around strange dogs. And Jason is also gentle enough for my girl, who is usually terrified of strangers and cowers around men. After each walk, I get a text update along with a handwritten note about the day. I even get photos (attached to this review)! Jason not only walks them, picks up after them, and wipes their paws upon returning home, but he also plays fetch with them and makes sure they're happy and relaxed before he leaves. I definitely recommend Portland Mutt Strut to anyone in Portland! More...

I am a professional, reward-based dog trainer by trade, and after a 45 minute sit down Q&A with Patricia and her sitters, I was very impressed by how knowledgeable they are regarding dog behavior.  I was very please with what I heard, and so hired them to stay in my home with my dog while I was out of town.  They are communicative, know how to handle a dog responsibly, and in the best interest of the dog.  They go above and beyond to make sure my dog is happy, even incorporating fun reward-based training games with my dog!  They are respectful of my house, minimize my dog's stress, and go above and beyond the call of duty.  Patricia changed my garage door opener battery for me during one visit!  Thanks Patricia!Portland Strut Mutt is the only dog sitting service in Portland I would recommend to my clients.  You're dogs will thank you!!! Portland Mutt Strut has been caring for our senior diabetic kitty for the last few years.  A diabetic cat can pose some difficulties in care - if they don't eat it can be dangerous to give insulin.  Portland Mutt Strut is always vigilant in observing our cat's food intake and being mindful of insulin doses. On a recent vacation, Portland Mutt Strut noticed that our cat was favoring one side of her mouth when she ate.  They texted this information to us indicating that our cat was still eating, but we may want to take her to the vet when we returned to see if there was  dental problem. We brought our cat to the vet following our return and the vet recommended a cleaning.  During the cleaning (the animals are sedated) the vet noted 5 teeth that were loose and/or in very bad condition.  The teeth were pulled and now our cat is eating great with no problems. Our vet said how great it was that our pet sitter (Portland Mutt Strut) observed the eating issue and brought it to our attention.  Had the dental problem gone on, there could have been complications which would have been difficult to treat, given our cat's diabetes.Portland Mutt Strut always prioritizes our cat's care and safety.  We never doubt that she will be well cared for and safe. I shopped around and found Portland Mutt Strut on Google.  Because Great Danes are especially sensitive to separation anxiety we wanted to make sure we got a relationship built with someone before we left him while we went on vacation.  Patricia came to our home for a meet and greet and Azul loved her instantly!  They would walk once a week for a month before she came to stay with him for the overnights and I could tell every time she had come because he would be super happy and chilled out instead of bouncing off the walls when I got home from work.  Patricia is amazing and our 9 month spaz of a puppy adores her! ;0)  Azul is a lot to handle, at only 9 months he weighs over 140lbs and is a jumper and runner.  I felt completely comfortable leaving him in her hands.  She handled him very well, he respected and listened to her.  She sent updates and photos while we were away and any questions or changes I had were communicated clearly and quickly.  Even when we had a changing of guards she text to check in that my cousin had made it over to take over.  It's nice to be able to leave your animal and not feel like they are going to be neglected or mistreated.  She also checked our mail and offered to water the plants...  DEFINITELY use Portland Mutt Strut!!!  The care and service are worth it!  Thank you SO much!!! We feel very fortunate to have found Portland Mutt Strutt. Over Christmas we found ourselves in a bind, when our 10 year old dog, who had not been boarded or left with anyone but family since a pup, proved she had serious attachment issues. I called Patricia and expressed my concerns and hesitation and not only was she supportive, but also had lots of good advice to help make her comfortable while at home alone. We left our dog (for the first time ever) at home alone for a week, having Patricia come twice a day. Honestly, I was prepared to come home mid-week if she was too distraught and disturbing the neighbors. However, that was totally unnecessary! Patricia helped our older, loyal, loving, shy dog find comfort at home alone and with her. There were no issues all week, and by weeks end they were friends. Patricia was so great about providing updates after each visit and responding promptly to any of my inquiries. Not long after, we found ourselves in need of Patricia again for a weekend getaway, and this time there was no hesitation. The weekend was once again smooth and proved to form even stronger of a bond. I cannot say enough about what it means to have someone we trust to care for our dog - our family member. We are new to the area, and without Patricia and Portland Mutt and Strutt I fear we would be very limited in any travel or spontaneous getaways. We try to include our dog, but as you all know it isn't always possible, and when it's not - you should call Portland Mutt Strutt. More...

I've been using Portland Mutt Strut since January of 2013.  These guys are AMAZING!  You definitely get what you pay for: a professional service from responsible people who love animals. Before Portland Mutt Strut started walking my dogs, Patricia came to the house to meet them.  I have 2 Frenchies (1 angel, 1 troublemaker), and they both took to her instantly.  This was the first time I've ever used a dog walker, and I was a bit nervous since my little troublemaker can be aggressive when he's on his leash.  Patricia was great, though!  For the first week or so, she would text me everyday to tell me how the dog walks were going.  It really put me at ease. After Patricia got the dogs into a routine, she brought another member of the team, Jessica, by to meet the pups.  For the most part, Jess has taken over walking my dogs, and they love her!  She's great with them.I can't say enough good stuff about Portland Mutt Strut!  They take away the stress of leaving my dogs at home while I'm at work, and they're just nice people. We have utilized Portland Mutt Strut's services several times now and can't say enough how pleased we are! Patricia and other members of her team have helped us, and we were really happy with the service provided. We have utilized walk services occasionally and recently, when we had to go out of town for a family event, we had them house sit and do walking/feeding/caring for our dog during that time. The most telling aspect of how attentive they were during that multi-day trip, is that our dog just seemed like herself when we got home, not distressed in any way and not nervous or off her food. So we are so grateful for that. Also our sitter was very communicative, sending us text messages each night and had summary notes on our dog's walks waiting for us when we arrived home. She was also a good house guest, and the place was just as tidy, if not tidier when we returned than when we left. Our dog has food allergies, so has a specific diet and treats. She also is a rescue with some behavioral quirks. All of these aspects of her needs were covered comprehensively in intake forms Patricia provided for us to fill out. She and her team really impressed us with all the details they committed to memory, followed through on and had paid attention to when we discussed things with them. That attention to detail is so important to us.We will not hesitate to utilize their services in the future. For those of you who consider your pets part of the family, I would tell you- these are the folks you want taking care of your furbabies! More...

I felt I could really trust Portland Mutt and Strut with my dog and in my home. They also made my complicated schedule feel organized by emailing me an easy to read dog walking schedule. My favorite part of the day was easily coming home to read the notes that Portland Mutt and Strut would leave for me, in my dog's perspective, outlining the day's events... very sweet and fun to read. Most importantly, my dog LOVED each person that came to walk her. More...

My husband and I chose Portland Mutt Strutt to dog and house sit during our recent vacation, and could not be happier with the service we received. Patricia and Katheryn did a great job with our dogs. We returned to find them content and happy, and I can tell they got enough love and exercise while we were away. Our older dog was given her medications on schedule, and our younger dog was played with. Our home is just as we left it, perhaps even a bit tidier. Our dogs are our family, and we feel very good having Patricia and Katheryn take care of them in the future.Highly recommended. More...

I cannot say enough good things about Patricia and Portland Mutt Strut!  They are always going above and beyond.  I'm a worrying type, especially when it comes to my pets, but I never worry when Patricia is taking care of them.  I think that sometimes our cats are disappointed that we've returned because they get so much fun playtime with her!Our dog is very high-maintenance, as he is blind and has terrible food and environmental allergies.  Patricia has no problem giving his shots (even though he weighs 115+ lbs and REALLY does not like them) and making sure he is happy and comfortable.  She's even picked up his antibiotics at the vet when he came down with a bacterial infection just before we left on vacation (how do dogs always seem to time illnesses/injuries when you're leaving, anyway?).If you need a petsitter, Portland Mutt Strut is the way to go.  You will be able to rest easy knowing your family members are getting the best possible care.  I don't know what I would do without Patricia! I want everyone to know what wonderful people Patricia and her pet sitter Francesca are and couldn’t recommend them more highly. It is hard to put into words what kind and compassionate people they were in a very difficult situation. My brother passed away while in the hospital while he’s cats (2) were being sat by Portland Mutt Strut (Francesca) and they went beyond the call of duty in helping me and my Mom (both from out of town). First off Patricia worked relentlessly to try and find new homes for both cats which I can gladly say both have been adopted into new homes. Meanwhile Francesca coordinated with many local charities to donate all the food, clothing and furniture from my brother’s apartment on her own time. Believe me they could have easily walked away from the situation and wished us luck but they didn’t. CARE doesn’t begin to describe the kind of people they really are so whatever you do please don’t hesitate in giving them your business!!! Mark B. More...
