I have not had the pleasure of having our dog stay at Janets Pooch Buddies, since our dog is a Pit and they couldn't take her in due to insurance issues.  I am writing this because Karen was very helpful in helping me find a good boarding location.  She spent a good 30 minutes with me on the phone giving me valuable information/tips/references.  She did not have to do this, but because of the good person she is, she did.  I don't know anything about her facility, but I do know she is a class act. I was fortunate to discover poochbuddies about  6 years ago when I adopted my dog. She is small and very frightened of dogs/people so she becomes aggressive when you try to pet her and when she is around other dogs. If a  dog is off a leash and tires to friend her, she will attack and it can get ugly. I have to be able to trust the person walking her and know that they will be vigilant and protect her at all times. I wont let anyone except the team at pooch buddies near her. Everyone Janet has hired  is very reliable.I have had to go away quite often and trust her people to stay in my home and care for my dog. But what I  really appreciate is Janet and how she has always made sure to come through at the very last minute. Many times I have had little notice myself and she always makes sure my dog will be cared for. She and her sister Sue, are so caring and kind. Recently, I had to cancel 2 times on them after arrangements were made for me to have surgeries and both surgeries were cancelled. I felt terrible that they had reserved the time and when I  tried to pay them,they refused to accept any money--both times. If you require dog sitting, or walking, you will not find anyone that will be more reliable and trustworthy. More...

I love boarding my dog here!! My dog is very skiddish and mild mannered. I am very protective of him and when I go on vacation and need to board him, I don't want him stuck in a kennel with limited area to wander around. Finding pooch buddies was the perfect fit! At Janet's, he is never kenneled and has ample play time. I love how she observes each dog and pairs them according to their personality when they play. This is very important to me because my dog is so skiddish. Janet would text me updates about him almost every day and I loved that! We are so thankful to have found Janet and Pooch Buddies for our wedding weekend. We are obsessive dog parents and have never boarded our 5lb dog. Needless to say we were very nervous about putting our dog in someone else's hands. What sold me on Pooch Buddies was that Janet helped me to explore other options besides boarding knowing that we weren't comfortable with the idea. She wanted what was best for our dog and what made us feel the most at ease. When I arrived to drop off my dog, Janet gave me a tour of her home and where my dog would be in relation to the other dogs. She made sure my dog would be secluded, but not caged, and that if she showed interest in other dogs and outside areas she would let our dog just be a dog. Our dog was of course very happy to have us come back and pick her up, but if we ever needed to board our dog while in LA, Pooch Buddies is our go to. We also loved the text updates and pictures. She knew it was our wedding weekend, so she let us be on our wedding day as well and we were comforted knowing our dog was in great hands. More...

I'm one of those dog owners that won't leave town unless my own sweet mom is caring for my little Brussels Griffon. But now that mom is up in years I knew that the day would come that I'd have to find another safe, loving home for my furbaby to stay at while I'm away. I knew right away that Petsmart was a no. He needs more loving hands around him than what a place like Petsmart offers. So I searched all night through yelp and I came across POOCH BUDDIES that a friend had recently written a wonderful review for. I knew instantly after speaking to  POOCH's owner Janet Speigel that this was the place for my little sweetie Griffon. I was only away for 3 days but Janet was SO sweet to text me photos and tell me how well he's doing. I've already made another reservation with her for over the holidays! As a first time puppy/dog owner last year, I was quite apprehensive about what we were getting into with an 8-week-old Yellow lab.  I found Pooch Buddies and Janet through Yelp and loved all the rave reviews.  When I called Janet for the first time (it was before we even took our puppy home), naturally I had a lot of questions.  Janet spent a good hour on the phone with me expressing what to expect in the first weeks, months, and year.  Janet didn't even know that we would become clients of hers at that point, but I knew right away that we were onto someone special and caring, and who really knew and understood animals.  Fast forward 1 year, and our 100 pound 1-year-old lab goes to Pooch Buddies Day Care once a week to have fun and socialize with the other dogs (and he loves swimming in the pool!). We bring Charlie to PB when we go out of town as well, as we know that he will be in great hands and happy while we're gone! We had an excellent experience with Pooch Buddies Boarding Services. In the seven years that we've had our two Shih Tzus, they've never been boarded and don't spend much time with other dogs. We expected them to be miserable no matter who they were with, but in no time Sue (Janet's sister) had them comfortable and feeling at home for the entire week we were gone. Okay,  so 5 stars, when I didn't end up using her services?  Yes. And here's why: I called and left a message about my doggie care needs. She immediately called back. Due to various factors (including the super-early time I have to leave for work), it won't work out for doggie day care. But she had good suggestions, was very polite and helpful, and I wouldn't hesitate to call this business if circumstances change. Some other businesses wouldn't call back, likely once they heard the message I'd left and knowing it wasn't what they could do. But she did. And I sure appreciate it. More...

Usually boarding facilities are overrun and you can feel the anxiety in the air. But this place is awesome. It's not crowded, it's CLEAN, and everyone is happy and relaxed. We recently had an absolutely fantastic experience with this business. Even though it was high season for dog boarding and they were pretty well booked up for the weekend, Janet took our dog at the last minute. She had us bring her the day before so she could meet her and make sure it was going to work out with the other dogs there as well as make sure our dog responded to her.After meeting Janet and looking around the place we felt completely comfortable leaving our dog with her. There's a lot of space for roaming around in the back yard, and the dogs are welcome to swim in the pool if they want to. She can also partition the dogs from each other if need be. I was concerned about my dog pestering the other dogs, as she has a lot of energy, but Janet had a solution for that. She said she'd put her with her other high-energy dog and let them run it out early in the day, then they both would probably be pooped for the rest of the day.My dog was so excited to be there, and I thought she responded very well to Janet. She obviously really loves dogs.My favorite part and a nice surprise was that we got daily texts from Janet, with photos, letting us know what our dog had been up to that day. She looked very happy.The prices were very reasonable, and it's marvelous knowing I don't have to worry about what to do with her next time we go out of town. More...

Thank you Janet!!!  We had a last minute cancellation of the person that was going to take care of our dogs while we were away on vacation.  2 days before our trip we had to scramble and find a place to leave our 2 dogs and Janet came to the rescue.  We found her on YELP! and after reading all the great reviews we called her and thank goodness she was able to take our dogs!Everyday she would send me updates and photos of our 2 dogs!  Our dogs had a great time under her care.  I feel like they were at "Camp" having a great time while we were away.When we came home they were both happy dogs!I will be leaving our dogs with her whenever we go away! I am so grateful that I've been using Pooch Buddies!!! Especially after last night when an emergency landed me in the hospital. I called in a total panic and Carol was able to go to my house and take care if all my cats and dogs till my husband could get home late that night. It was the difference between having to send him home (because of the 5hr wait for the dr) and have an emergency procedure by myself - and having him there with me and knowing my pets were being well cared for as Carol always texts me when she arrives and an update when she leaves. THANK YOU Carol and Janet from the bottom of my heart! I've been using Pooch Buddies since I moved to the area a few months ago and they've been reliable and thorough in their care, and very easy to schedule even when trips changed last minute. I just had an awesome experience here at Pooch Buddies!At first I was a little skeptical... I mean I'm dropping my 11 month old pup at someone's house for the first time! But I read the 5 star reviews so I decided to check it out. I called Janet and she was really sweet and offered to take Loofah (my pup) in for the day!They are right next to my school, so I thought it would be really convenient. The house was amazing! Lots of play space for dogs but just enough to watch all of them. Janet sent me a picture and an update on how Loofah was doing and who she played with. It was adorable!It is a little pricy but she only takes in a few dogs at a time and she gave my pup individualized care. I told her about the medication my pup was on and she completely understood that she needed some special attention. When I got there, she was in the doggy area with 2 small dogs. Janet told me about Loofah's day and it seemed like Loofah had a great time!Of course it is a bit pricy... $50 for 8 hrs... But I love the attention she gets! We probably won't be coming EVERY single day, but I think we will come again! 5 stars! More...

We've always been lucky enough to have a friend look after our two dogs. This time we were out of luck and so it was going to be our first experience with a pet sitter. With Pooch Buddies, I finally feel that I can take a vacation and know that our 4 dogs are in good hands. Janet is the owner and is very professional, compassionate, and reliable. Our son was getting married out of the country and we planned to be away for 10 days. We have 1 Boxer and 3 Chihuahuas.  Via Pooch Buddies, we were able to have our pups stay at home and not be separated or boarded. Our sitters spent the night the entire time and accommodated their schedules/lifestyles. We have never left our home with people that we don't know. With Janet, we felt comfortable with her judgement and staff. They are bonded and insured which was reassuring to us as new customers. While we we're gone, our sitters, Kelli and Katie (they split the time) sent pictures and emails which was very comforting. We will definitely trust our pets and home with Pooch Buddies again! Janet of Pooch Buddies is PHENOMENAL!! You can end your search right here because Janet's care really is the best!! She loves dogs, knows dogs, and is someone you can trust to provide the best care for your dog in her home! We left our black lab with Janet twice while we were out of town for a couple of nights. Our dog is sweet  but very skittish and shy. Janet worked hard to acclimate her to the other dogs and to get her to drink water and eat her food. She gave her lots of attention and affection. Our dog had boarded in a kennel for a few nights many years ago. She wouldn't eat and came home with a yeast infection in her ears. She was miserable. We felt like we could never leave her anywhere again...until we found Pooch Buddies! Our dog's second stay with Janet was right after we moved into a new house. As a result, our dog was feeling very anxious and needed constant human contact. Janet went so far as to sleep in the den with our dog, so that she wouldn't whine all night. Since our dog is so high need (especially as she ages and given her temperament), Janet suggested that she would do best in her own surroundings. Pooch Buddies provides qualified people to care for pets in one's own home, and Janet also directed us to her Pet Association where we could find qualified people for in-home pet sitting closer to our new home. I. Love. Pooch Buddies.There I said it. and I MEANT it.We needed to arrange for someone to come in and walk our girl twice over 2 days. Our regular walker was MIA, and we were frustrated. I work at an apartment community where a few of our residents rely on Pooch Buddies, so I figured it was worth a shot if these folks were comfortable using them on a regular basis. I mean, if you have a pet, you know how important it is to find a trustworthy, affordable sitter or walker. This is important stuff! Your pet's like your kid, y'know? (with the difference being that you don't have to send your dog to college, of course.) Janet was quick to respond to my rather last-minute request and she set us up with Kelli. We arranged to leave a key for her and sent directions to our place. This is notable because it is next to impossible to find your way to our door due to some weird geography. They hung in there with my homemade map and page-long instructions and found us. Kelli texted me upon arrival and then again later to let me know that our dog had been walked and that they were now getting some all-too-important play and cuddle time. This really set my mind at ease. It was so great to know my fuzzy baby was being treated well. The 2nd day wasn't such a cakewalk due to a broken elevator and some dead cell phones. When we woke we found our phones dead and were not able to plug them in until mid-morning. When we did, we found texts, emails and messages from Janet stating that Kelli had arrived to find that our elevator was down, so she would need to use the stairs. She was unable to get onto our floor as we had only left her our apartment door key and not the main stairwell access key.  I wrote her back and apologized for the inconvenience and confusion, and told her that our girl would be okay until we got home later in the day. Well, Janet wasn't havin' it. As Kelli was booked out for the rest of the day, Janet took it upon herself to head to our place after I received word from building management that our elevator was back up and running. I mean, talk about great customer service. I so appreciated that a business owner would take it upon herself to go the extra mile to take care of us. Pooch Buddies is the BEST!  We've used other dog walking services in the valley, but none have been as great as Pooch Buddies!  Janet really goes out of her way to make sure your dog is geting the personal attention needed.  She has not only helped us with walking services, but also my dog was having a bladder problem for a while, and she talked us through what could be going on behaviorally (while of course also recommending we take her to the vet to make sure it wasn't a bladder infection)... I couldn't believe how much she genuinely cared!  Our past walkers wouldn't have had much more of a conversation beyond "if she goes in the house, we'll clean it up."  But Janet wanted to pinpoint the problem and HELP us.  She's fantastic!Also, my boyfriend and I have tough scheduling issues (as both of our jobs give us our work schedules Monday morning for THAT week, and they're constantly changing).  Janet has been a rock star with her flexibility, and we are beyond grateful!  I found Pooch Buddies on Yelp and took a chance... and we've been so happy ever since!  They come to our home every week to take care of our dog, have keys to our house (very trustworthy and responsible), and what a difference it makes knowing our little girl is not only taken care of throughout the day, but also will be a very happy girl to come home to!Please Please Please trust these reviews!  Hire Pooch Buddies!!!!!! Pooch Buddies took care of my two cats over a three day period. The pet sitter texted photos of my kitties during visits, and was very pleasant and kind. After checking out a few pet sitters in my neighborhood, I decided to go with Pooch Buddies and I'm glad I did! It was our first family vacation in two years because of our elderly cat with special needs and Janet and Kelli were wonderful with her.  I got texts from Kelli each time she came to the house which really relieved my mind. Awesome! Janet is a consummate professional and down to earth at the same time.  I contacted her a day before we left on vacation.  Since she was in the neighborhood, she came over within the hour along with her daughter to meet us and the pooch's. She was thorough and exceptionally knowledgeable about dogs.  We spent over an hour together going over all the details about the dogs' schedules and then had Caroline come and meet my husband the next day in order to be introduced to the dogs.While we were gone, Caroline sent us several text messages a day along with pics.  She walked the dogs and PB even bought us two leash's since I forgot to leave them when I left on my trip.  When we returned home, the house was immaculate, the dogs were relaxed and happy and we had a great time while we were gone knowing that Caroline was here to take care of them.So glad we found Pooch Buddies.  Exceptional service for your beloved doggies. Pooch Buddies, in a word, is AWESOME!!!  Janet takes the time to learn as much as she can about each pet that is in her care.  Her sitters are not only pet-lovers, but they are responsible people, respectful of home and property, and go out of their way to make us pet owners feel comfortable about leaving our loving animals in their care.  Janet's sitters have stayed in our home in Encino with our beloved Pomeranian anywhere from an overnight to almost three weeks ... and it's during those long trips away that an email from Janet and/or the sitter, often including a photograph, that gives us the greatest sense of security and is the most appreciated.  And when we're at our home in Carmel, Janet's staff feeds the koi and regularly checks the house and garden.  Pooch Buddies, Janet and her staff consistently exceed our expectations. I went to Pooch Buddies when the kennel where we had previously boarded all our dogs closed.  Pooch Buddies was recommended to us by our vet, yet I was apprehensive because I had been so happy with the prior arrangements.  However, as soon as I entered Janet's I felt at home.  It was warm and open and very accomodating to dogs, and I knew that Ziggy had found his home away from home.  And as soon as I spoke with Janet  I was in love!  She was warm, attentive to Ziggy, and had incredible insight into canine behavior, assuring me that he would adapt and be just fine, and I knew he had found his surrogate mother!But there is more.  While we were gone we received many emailed photos and reports of Ziggy's activities, ie Ziggy helping with the laundry, Ziggy getting a tummy rub, Ziggy napping on the picnic table after a day at play, Ziggy curled at Janet's feet while she wrote her emails. I recently adopted a rescue dog in June of 2009.  I had a vacation planned and did not know what I was going to do as I did not want to leave my new dog with just anyone.  I was lucky enough to find Janet and Pooch Buddies.  I have left my dog Misty with Janet on 3 separate occasions and could not have been happier.  She took such good care of Misty, like she was her own.  She would also text me and send me photos along with reports of how Misty was doing.  Janet was so wonderful with Misty.  Janet is Misty's new best friend and ours too!  Misty will be visiting Janet several more times this year.  I feel so comfortable leaving my dog with her and you will too!!! My doggies had a great time! I left them for 2 days without worry! Every time I left them in a kennel, they were not the same for days, and my beagle would be angry at me.
