We had a party of eight for dinner. Nice atmosphere and a super nice waitress. The food was good but a little pricey. Some had Halibut, others had chicken, lasagne and short ribs. I have been dining at Plate since it has opened and to be clear more than 25 times or more. These visits occurred before Covid and after Covid. The experience has always been special for myself and especially for my family and friends. Since return from the plague of the 21st century, or Covid 19; some places and Plate being one of them has decided to use this as an excuse to just not allow things that have previously occurred before and after Covid 19. It's not that big of deal but on the occasion of a birthday, we brought along "Susie Cakes" <a href="/redir?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsusiecakes.com&s=6ef75a412a814b053d1d7fb9b18561a9356a2ff25ac66ec8a69e2f9a4d2809d1" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">susiecakes.com</a> and upon sitting down with a party of 10 were instructed "you vill not bring outside food in dis establishment due to Covid restrictions" I said that is strange as we have always done this. I stated "You allow corking fee, so just charge me a caking fee" She repeated there are no exceptions. I asked if it was policy it should be on the website. After perusal of the website, it made no mention of it! Once again no big deal, but to use Covid as an excuse is just LAME. The President of the United States recently allowed cuocakes on the White House grounds. So what's up with that? Somebody explain it to me. So rather than turning this Covid issue into more than what it is, we will just enjoy this most excellent meal and then order the Dzintra by Plate delicious desserts. We will take the cupcakes and just eat them in the parking lot. I'm summary this review is more about the ridiculousness of using Covid 19 as an excuse. We all need to move past this and embrace freedom. "Freedom of choice" is one of the last bastions of being an American. The choice to go or not to go to any restaurant. In summary, Plate by Dzintra is a great place with excellent people and excellent food. However it's my belief We would all be better served if we just said "we don't allow any food or drink in from the outside" rather than using Covid as an excuse. More...

This review is going to be my all-time favorite. Before a long road trip, I decided to try a new place and Yelp'd a venue where I was at, at the time and this venue popped up. I walked in and two adorable, nice, kind young ladies approached me, and I was able to pick any table or sit at the bar, so I chose the bar. As I was reading through the menu, I was talking out loud on what the soup of the day was and the kind bartender started sharing what it was and OMG, it was someone I hadn't seen in over twenty years....it was this beautiful soul, beautiful friend, Rosi; this precious lady hadn't aged and still super awesome. Anyways, back to the venue and food - I ordered a cosmopolitan and the soup/salad combo. So delicious, so decadent. I can't wait to return for another nice occasion. Very disappointed with the service and the high prices. If you are looking for bland atmosphere and small expensive portions this is the place for you. I would certainly not go back. I was still hungry by the time I left the restaurant. Shocked they are still in business.<br>An 8 Oz. Steak and fries for $70. No side salad or anything. As far as your pricing goes you are double the price of Capital Grill. So no excuses for food costs. <br>Also, we waited over an hour for our food and the restaurant was only half full at best. <br>Your response to my review is not correct. We did not split a kids meal. We had 2 kids under 13 years old. My wife even had to get up to get salt because the staff was no where to be seen. We didn&#39;t order drinks because the menu prices are not reasonable. We eat out all of the time and I have never had this kind of sticker shock for what you would receive. Next time when you want to reply to my review do it privately if you are not going to get the facts straight.<br>Bottom line..... over priced steak with Lincoln Log fries. Went here for my mother in law&#39;s birthday, and overall really enjoyed the experience. The ambience is great, I love an interior with a personality, and this certainly has one. Beautiful, upscale, but with enough bling that it doesn&#39;t take itself too seriously. Definitely the kind of place you could get dressed up for, but it&#39;s Austin so most people were dressed casually. Live music the night we were there, which is a nice touch, although I found it a bit too loud. I could see though where others wouldn&#39;t find that to be the case. <br><br>The food was really good (although nothing was absolutely perfect). Beautiful plating though, I can&#39;t remember the last time I had such a pretty meal.<br><br>Fall Harvest Cornicopia Salad: Really good, perfect knife cuts on all the veggies, you can tell the chef has some technical skills. But, it&#39;s not fall, it&#39;s winter (almost spring), and I think that&#39;s the reason the corn wasn&#39;t very flavorful, and the butter lettuce was a tad bitter. Excellent dressing though, and probably the most flavorful feta I have ever had, so overall enjoyed the salad.<br><br>Roasted Pork Bao Buns: The pork was excellent, tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. But the bun itself was a little doughy, and somehow the ratio of pork to toppings was off. I probably wouldn&#39;t order this again, instead next time I think I&#39;d go for the Singapore Crispy Pork, just based on the way the pork in the bao buns was so perfectly cooked. <br><br>Short Rib Grilled Cheese: Excellent, perfectly toasted and buttered bread, flavorful cheese, good ratio of cheese to meat, nice hint of heat. My only complaint on the sandwich is the pickle really added a nice hint of acid to the sandwich, so I&#39;d rather see pickle slices on the sandwich, vs a pickle spear on the side. (Minor complaint though, maybe a lot of people would rather see it on the side.) The onion rings were great - perfectly coated, perfectly cooked. If they had been hit with a pinch of salt when they came out of the fryer, they would have been absolutely perfect. <br><br>Flourless Chocolate Truffle Cake: Really good, although definitely more of a candy bar texture vs a cake (not necessarily a problem, just not what I was expecting).<br><br>So, a few things that keep it from being a perfect 5 star meal, but overall really good, great ambience and beautiful plating, and I would definitely go back. I had lunch with a friend here. The chicken salad sandwich is very good ! The reuben sandwich my friend ordered, there was barely anything on it , the lunch doesn& #39;t come with a side which I think it should . I ordered fries and there were hardly any on the plate. After lunch we ordered coffee and I had to pay for cream, I asked for a refill and was told I would be charged for another cup which was four dollars. I was disappointed . More...

I&#39;m not sure why it took me so long to try this place. It took a business dinner to get me there. Maybe it&#39; s because it&#39;s kind of in a hidden location and the outside of it isn&#39;t very alluring. First I ordered the Beet and Goat Cheese salad. Admittedly, I don&#39;t usually finish my salad starters but I ate the entire thing and I would have licked the plate too if it was socially acceptable. :p For my drink, I had the Anejo Old Fashioned and it was so good that I got a 2nd one! It was a delicious twist to a regular Old Fashioned and I&#39;m all about it. For dinner I had the lasagna. I know when you see lasagna on a menu it seems like a &#34;basic&#34; thing to order, but it was really good! Finally, for dessert, ordered the seasonal peach crostana and it was good too! Great decor, extremely friendly hosts/hostesses/waitress. Our waitress was enthusiastic and candid about the menu, and we happened to ask about items she loved herself and she was spot on with descriptions. For appetizer we had bread with compound butter, gourmet wings. For dinner we had gourmet burger, tenderloin Rossini and Filipino pancit while our daughter ate off-menu kids items like pasta with butter and fries. All with beautiful presentations and great taste. Taking one star off because personally I'm not a fan of grain finished beef, and I personally think that Plate can easily become a top contender for best restaurant in Austin if they considered doing grass fed and finished meats. So service was great, but if I'm being honest food was mediocre at best. We got appetizers but when they arrived we decided to skip to dessert, which was also disappointing. We had salmon rillettes, which were basically canned salmon patté without anything else on overly toasted bread. For dessert we ordered the chocolate cake and the rhubarb crustada. The cake lacked flavor and tasted like box cake. The crustada had great rhubarb filling BUT the dough was very reminiscent of Pillsbury. We recently discovered Plate and are so happy we did. The food is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! So far, we've tried and loved: nachositos, macadamia crusted chicken and the cheesecake. My parents' favorites are the ahi tuna poke and the salmon. We will try those next... going next week and already salivating. Not quite sure what happened to this place. We patronized this restaurant since it was a hole in the wall and it's always been first rate on every level. The quality of the food, ambiance and service was amazing. The last three dinners over a year were noticeably different. The menu was totally changed and the food quality has suffered to the point of being subpar despite a shocking spike in prices. Service is slow and the waitstaff act like they hate their job. Wishing we tried this place sooner! Took a friend to dinner because I couldn't tell if this was a place our whole family would like or not. They have a variety menu an upscale vibe, but very friendly (not pretentious). I will definitely be back with family and friends. I'm sure this will turn into a frequent dining place for us. We shared so I tried the park, halibut, vodka cherry limeade, and bites of a trio of desserts: peach, espresso Crème brûlée, chocolate cake. Halibut was amazing, cooked perfectly. I love this place! Vibe:As you can see in the photos the natural- looking atmosphere makes you feel relaxed as you sit down. The restroom was also so cute and had a cabinet with a hairbrush, and perfumes you can try on! Food: Wine was amazing, and food was excellent too! We ordered steak and shrimp pasta. Steak was great, a little bit salty for me and I preferred the pasta dish so we swapped :) plenty of food! Service:The only downside I would have to say was the service. Nobody came to our table for 10 minutes (not so busy) and we weren't really sure what we were supposed to do. When we finally asked someone if there will be someone serving us, a waitress came and said that would be her. She didn't seem very friendly, but we didn't mind that much and I also think she seemed new. Towards the end a friendly male staff came to us and asked about food, and greeted us goodbye as we were leaving which was sweet of him. So I'm keeping the 5star review. Tonight we chose to eat out at a fancy restaurant here in bee Cave Texas called plate. It's a very nice restaurant located across from Hill country Galleria shopping Center. We ordered this evening, scallops with risotto and their braised ribs. We also tried the wedge salad along with beet and goat cheese and walnut salad. The salads were wonderful as was the braised ribs. Forget the knife, you could cut the braised ribs with a fork. The vegetables were a bit salty, but overall the meal was good. The scallops were very good as well. We would definitely recommend this restaurant if you're going out for a date night dinner. It's more on the higher side of restaurants in this neighborhood, but the quality of the food is very good. More...

Zero stars.... Need I say more? Ok I will. Walk in ask a simple question, is this place new? Lady immediately snaps back kind of bitterly I might add, with a no we've actually been here four years. Oh so sorry I've never seen you before; excuse me for your terrible location. Nevertheless, stay to eat; but why the weird setup? The same lady is walking around with the server the entire time; very unprofessional. I understand they're in training but you shld have them trained enough to serve guests on their own. On another note the server was very timid and looked like a beat puppy. Poor guy. There was expensive perfume in their crappy bathroom?? Chanel no. 5. Made no sense. Asked for sweetener, lady forgot, and when she brought it to me, it was like the little kind they have at the diners. Should have already been on the table, and there was an OPEN sugar packet . Expensive prices for OK food and the worst service I've ever had. It gets worse 25 dollars for ONE glass of crummy wine . Delightful.
