So I just left my house and one of their guys is driving down wise road with a truck full of unsecured siding and nails in it , he starts going a little over the speed limit and all this stuff ends up flying out of the truck and I run over it. Â Now I'm in the shop cuz 2 of my tires are flat because these guys don't know how to properly secure a load with a ton of nails and debris in it. I contacted Mike for a Deck estimate, this project had a lot of history behind it related to a lot of shady contractors. Mike came out looked it over and gave us a quote for the upper deck and lower patio, the quote was reasonable and the whole projecte was better than originally planned. Even when we had bumps in the road, Mike was always honest about any issues and called us to let us know the problem. The workers were professional and courteous and always cleaned up and left everything looking great. We love our new deck and patio, they ended up above and beyond our wildest expectations. I have to say after reading some of these reviews I would of been hesitant to hire Phoenix. Â I went on Angie's List and they had really good ratings. Â I do not know what a COLD CALL is but Phoenix did leave us a couple of message throughout the year. Â Not sure how or where they got my number but now a days you don't have to buy any kind of a list. Â The Do Not Call list is a joke for the amount of calls I get and I am on it. Â All in all they left a message at the right time cause we were looking for someone to redo my side walk. Â I contacted a couple of places and decided to go with Mike from Phoenix. He was willing to work with us on the price and we were pleased with the results. Â The sidewalk and concrete work was done really well. Â The gentleman that did the work was great. They gave honest answers during the free estimate. Â They give the costs and there were NO SURPRISES once work was complete. They use great technology to ensure that each transaction moves smoothly. Â While some people may have had issues a while back - these issues are not present anymore. This fall I had 3 different companies come out to give me an estimate for gutters, one being Home Depot. Â Out of the 3, Home Depot was the only one that got back to us with a quote. Â Then a young man representing Phoenix Construction canvased our neighborhood and so we took him up on it. Got a call from Mike within a couple of days and out he came to estimate. Â The job was done when he said it would be done, the crew was so professional and courteous and he was actually a lot cheaper then Home Depot. Â And as far as Mike writing out a handwritten estimate of services, not sure who that other reviewer usually deals with but it's rare I ever wait around for a "typed" estimate to be sent. Â I'll take "hand written" any day! Â Also, as another reviewer commented, Mike even touched up some stuff that was not being replaced so it would flow with the new gutters. We have nothing but good things to say about Mike and Phoenix. We sought a general contractor to complete several big jobs: replacing our 25 year old concrete driveway, aluminum siding, and revamping our front porch. We contracted with Phoenix, and found the work scheduled quickly. Sub-contractors were polite, and worked steadily. They showed up on time and knew their craft. All jobs were completed within 1 month - better than we expected. Mike seemed eager to please us, and when we requested something extra ( an electrical outlet, a new door, paint touch-up ) someone showed up w/i a day to complete the task. I asked Mike for a detailed invoice of all the completed work, and received a handwritten "contract" listing the original price, plus charges for the additional work. I was expecting a formal, typed invoice. Mike always quoted me an amount, and waited for approval before purchasing materials. Prices didn't seem too out of line; he didn't quote materials and labor separate, just gave a price for job completion. I rate contractors by our experience with Andersen Renewal Windows. Andersen really cares about pleasing the customer and everything/everyone is user friendly. Our experience with Phoenix wasn't up to Andersen's excellence, but Phoenix is a local contractor and was what I expected. When we built this house 25 years ago, using a general contractor from Napervile, there were numerous delays, many compromises and changes, and we were disappointed by several subcontractors' work.Yes, Mike is a loud, blustering fellow, but he did want to please us.
