What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I love seeing photography becoming more important in people’s lives. Now that every phone comes with a camera we are all becoming more aware of ourselves and how we present to others.
I love portrait and headshot photography because when a client decides to take that step and go beyond the selfie they are choosing to upgrade their image to a professional level. The client is turning over creativity to a professional whose job it is to bring out their true self. The goal is to capture images of a client that make the perfect first impression for someone browsing a website, online profile, or business card.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I like to know the intended use of the final images. If a client has previously been photographed what they liked or didn’t like about those final images.
Most important is to understand the client’s expectations.
What do you love most about your job?
I love meeting people and creating images that make my clients happy.
Every day and every client is different and no two sessions are the same.
I love challenges and learning from each session. Every time I work with a client is an opportunity to make a client happy and for me to grow as a professional.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I enjoy the flexibility of taking on different projects that interest me or push me to become better at what I do. I am not afraid to get outside my comfort zone and tackle new experiences, and subjects.
Photography is a creative process and creativity done right should not be limited by the constraints of a set schedule.
Starting Palimages Photography allowed me to grow creatively focusing on the process.
Owning my own business has given my the opportunity to stay fresh and creative many of my clients return to me as they also become more comfortable seeing themselves as others do. This is a very self affirming process as a client goes beyond the selfie. I love seeing that transition.

I listen to my clients and want them to be part of the creative process so they get the product they wanted. My clients choose me because my goal is to give them options they can be comfortable with. I want them to be happy with not only their photos but the entire experience. It is important that the client is happy.
I know I am able to do that because my clients return for more as their needs change.
