Whomever rates this place below 4 stars does not know food. I can understand an occasional low rating for poor service, I mean people have bad days and that includes wait staff, but this place amazes me every time and I visit here at least 6 times a year. It is an absolute must stop for me when I'm in San Antonio. But, make no mistake, the Riverwalk location is not even close to the food quality and service level you receive at the Lincoln Heights location. I haven't been to the 1604 location, but the Lincoln Heights location is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in the US. More...

This is such a great restaurant. We had a large group (as many on a Saturday night do) and were pleasantly surprised that we could actually hold a conversation. So I left Guillermo's due to Horrible service....I was not expecting much here ....Let me tell you I was so pleased to see a nice looking restaurant from the outside. Paesanos consistently hits the mark for great food and service.These folks have been going strong since 1968.   Our favorite server is Nick. He has only been here for 41 years and continues to do a great job.The chicken parmesan was moist and tasty, the mixed veggies included Brussels sprouts, broccoli, carrots, and asparagus.    The Mediterranean salad had Parmesan crusted chicken, mandarin oranges, cranberries, sliced almonds, romaine lettuce with poppyseeddressing. There was so much it really was two servings.    They start out with the bread tray with five different types of bread each one quite delicious. I love this restaurant. We get the chicken marsala with angel hair pasta and it's definitely enough for two people maybe three. It's fabulous and so is the salad. They have the most wonderful bread. One of the breads has cranberries and nuts in it. We've had the cappuccino ice cream pie and the tiramisu. They were also wonderful.When I go here, I feel like I've been somewhere. The decor is very elegant. The only problem with this restaurant is that as it gets late it's very very noisy and you may have a hard time finding parking.I definitely recommend eating here.if you decide to get food to go they do a wonderful job of packaging it for you. Last night I brought in members from our San Antonio chapter of the Executive Women International to Paesano's and had a fabulous time! The room was ready to go with an assortment of wines, cocktails, and bubbly which all the ladies seem to appreciate. The appetizers were fantastic we engulfed ourselves in calamari and bruschetta while discussing the new leadership roles and opportunities about to take place. And to top off this cool, calm, and collected meeting was the outstanding service by Ian! Ian was calm, relaxed, and observant to our needs. We didn't reach the minimum total so Ian offered items from the menu to help get us to that mark. That stood out to me the most because he could've easily rung in a monetary number that hit our quota but he didn't he offered more service so we wouldn't feel cheated and as a former waitress I respect that! I will most definitely be bringing my girls back to Pasasno's!. And again a BIG thank you to Ian, the Management staff, and the rest of the Paesano's team for their help with our meeting tonight. My first time at Paesanos and I'm a little torn about how I feel. I have a lot of food allergies and our waitress was extremely patient and kind and helped me find something  I could get. I ended up getting blackened sea bass and steamed mixed veggies. The sea bass had a nice flavor but was over cooked. Veggies were good but the green beans tasted a bit sour. As my inaugural post on Yelp I'm pleased to inform everyone reading this as to how AMAZING this restaurant is! This evening I brought my father to Paesano's who had never been before and we were greeted at the door with a smile. Our waiter, Ian was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, especially when it came to recommending drinks and pairing wines. Ian recommended the Snapper Paesano for my father which he loved so much he ordered a second to take home as for me I ordered the Shrimp Paesano which never fails. I have been coming here with my family for years and I love it every time. Everything I have ever gotten has been wonderful but my favorite is the steak and shrimp paesano. Love their garlic bread but you have to ask for it. They bring out amazing breads with olive oil to dip in and they sell them by the loaf as well. All different kinds, something for everyone. Their house salad dressing is amazing too I even craved it while pregnant. Just writing this review is making me want to go! Great for parties as well. Love the grilled or fried calamari here! Very unusual (in a good way) - they are like little steaks, not the rings and tidbits you're used to getting at restaurants. Both 54th e kitchen and service us great here. I ordered side of steamed spinach (not on menu), and was no problem and even came with a lemon wedge, which helped cut the bitterness of the spinach. If someone in your party has dietary restrictions, this would be a great place to go. They didn't miss a beat with the modifications of my order or my off-the-menu order. Love Paesano's! My fam and I went the other night and I actually didn't get pasta, which was weird for me. I usually always get Shrimp Paesano (their specialty! ) or another kind of pasta dish. I didn't get it this time, but their salmon is really fucking good. My mom ordered the eggplant Parmesan and it was delicious! Her angel hair pasta came with a little more sauce than I prefer, but delicious nonetheless. My uncle ordered shrimp Paesano and shared one with me. You literally can never go wrong with shrimp Paesano. Like, it's so buttery but not too buttery, and savory and flavorful. The shrimp is perfectly cooked. I ordered the special - Parmesan crusted grouper over a bed of cooked spinach, topped with 1 shrimp paesano. Man, this was flavorful. The grouper was out of this world. I don't eat a lot of grouper but if it's cooked like this one was, I'll eat it everyday. The only weird thing was I felt like my spinach was a little over cooked if you can believe that? But honestly I didn't care lol. I ate half of my entree and killed the rest for lunch the next day!!! Definitely recommend. Thanks for the wonderful service too, David! I think that was his name. My go to place for the best Italian in town! This is the original Paesano's- it's an Alamo Heights institution. They're known for one dish- the Shrimp Paesano. It's a noodle dish with a white sauce that's loaded with butter, with a few huge shrimp. It's famous! People try to replicate it at home, but it's never quite the same as Paesano's! Even the bread that they put out is to die for! The food is always amazing here. The service is always great- they're on the ball here, and have an attention to detail. They never seem too busy to give great service, even when the place is jam packed! They've got a pretty extensive wine list, and some decent house wines. Be sure to check out their bar by the entryway. There's often a wait to get a table, so the bar is a great place to hang and check out the decor. They have a back room dedicated to their best patron with a gold plaque on the wall, which is classy! #RestaurantGoalsParking is easy, it has its own lot right off Basse and Treeline Parkway. I have been coming here consistently for the past 4 years due to the wonderful food and service I receive every time. Everybody is personable, Robbie is a fantastic sommelier who is well versed in libations and pairings. Then shrimp Paesano is a must have every visit.I am a creature of habit so I get the same things every time. I start with a special salad and garlic bread instead of the table bread with a side olives. Antonio has been a long time fantastic member of Paesano's, he brings the bread and olives out before I even have a chance to request them. I am beyond appreciative of the Paesanos staff. Food (5/5) My go-to's are the avocado salmon, the shrimp Paesano and/or the eggplant or chicken parmesan.Do yourself a favor and order all 3 at least once. You will thank me later. This is One of our top five favorites, we try to visit monthly at a minimum.Nick is a great veteran server who has been at Paesano's for 40 years. Nick has lots of old school skills,he remembers what you like and do not like.Our baked Redfish was moist and tasty, the lemon butter sauce was the perfect compliment.Since 1968 Paesano's has had a simple but amazing house salad with oil and vinegar. It's always served chilled.
