Once Upon a Dog Tail was the BEST pet sitting service that I have ever used. The owner is wonderful and went beyond all my expectations to make sure that our three cats were cared for and loved while we were gone. Since we had 2 and a half feet of snow while we gone, the owner made sure the cats were set with food and water before the storm and the owner's husband personally made the snowy trek to our house the day after the storm to get our cats fresh water and food. The owner also made attempts to get our driveway plowed for us before we returned and even picked up glass from a light that broke from winds while we were gone. I work for Cara, as a pet sitter, and now I am also a customer. She watched my dogs for 2 1/2 days after Christmas. Let me tell you, I will NEVER use a kennel again. We have had our Rocky for three years and never felt comfortable leaving him during all that time! Finally, we trusted our friend, Kristen, and decided to try Once Upon a Dog Tail for three nights and four days. We are so relieved and excited to tell everyone that Rocky had a blast! Cara and her pet caregivers are an amazing bunch. Very professionally run and excellent pet sitters. Her staff are all employees, not independent contractors, so Cara has much more oversight of the pet sitters. We have a dog and 2 cats, plus two outside feral cats we feed. My dog gets really anxious in kennels so its much better for me to have someone to come over to the house. And my cats have to be let out and called in each day. It's a hassle for sure but Once Upon A Dog Tail caters to your needs. It gives me such peace of mind to know that my pets are being well cared for in my absence. We have had Naomi several times and she is just wonderful! She sends tons of pictures each time she visits, and does a far more detailed write up than one would ever expect. She is very affectionate and caring to all my pets. She even washed out all the little ziploc dog food containers for me, which I thought was very nice of her. I would highly recommend this service. They may be a little more expensive than using your next door neighbor or a friend, but it is well worth it because you can really count on them to A) be there when they say they will, B) spend the amount of time with your pet that you are paying for, and C) be very loving and attentive to your pet's needs. I have also met another of their caregivers, Sage, and she seemed wonderful too - met her in a pet store after she had just rescued a litter of two week old kittens. Anyway, they are all wonderful, reliable and pet loving people, and you can trust them in your home. I highly recommend Once Upon A Dog Tail! More...

Once Upon a Dog Tail is an excellent service! We recently went away for about 2 weeks , and preferred not to kennel our 2 dogs for that length of time, and were quite pleased to find this service. OUADT came to the house for an extensive meet-and-greet with the dogs, which included filling out a questionnaire designed to help the sitter learn about each pet and its quirks, medical issues, and habits. While we were away we were provided with daily reports, including photos, via email, of how the dogs were doing. I cannot say enough good things about this service. We will definitely use OUADT again. They offer very reasonable rates and the level of organization and professionalism is very high. Your furkids are in excellent hands with Once Upon a Dog Tail. What inspired you to start your own business?
Cara founded Once Upon a Dog Tail in the summer of 2014. Her passion and dedication to providing premium pet care turned her vision for OUADT in to a reality...a team of like minded pet professionals committed to caring for pets on a physical and emotional level. Cara's diligence ensures that our clients pet's safety and well being is of paramount importance. Cara is experienced in handling pets with knowledge and care and is a vital source of support for all team members. She is devoted to the valued employees, ensuring that they work in a positive and fair environment. Cara is still actively involved in all areas of service as she thrives on her connection to animals.

Dog Walking
The perfect opportunity for your best buddy to get some exercise and company during those long days at work, when you take day trips out of town or if you are physically unable to walk your dog. Our dog walking visits start at up to 30 minutes for general care like bathroom breaks, walks, feeding and play time and can be as long as 60 minutes if you would like extended exercise and company for your beloved pet.
Pet Sitting
Let your pets enjoy the comfort and familiarity of home while you're away. Our professional pet sitters visit them at home several times a day and can even stay over night to feed them, take them for bathroom breaks/clean cat litter, exercise, play and most importantly make them feel loved. You will receive updates and pictures via our app giving you the peace of mind to enjoy your time away from home. Our pet sitting services also include general care of your home such as bringing in mail and watering plants.
Dog Adventures
Our dog adventures are ideal for dogs who love to explore and hang out with a canine friend or two. Big or small, we adventure with them all! Paired up with a similar temperament and size, your dog will be sure to be ecstatic to find a new and exciting life outside of their homes. We pick them up and take them hiking to various trails around Lancaster County. They will tell you all about it when you come home, unless they are too exhausted from all the fun.
