Q&As

We love seeing our clients accomplish their goals and have epiphanies. It is a rewarding part of the job when people leave feeling confident in decisions that they make and having resolved and processed issues from their past.

We wanted to have more freedom to meet with clients as much as needed instead of just providing brief therapy. We also want to provide safe, individualized care online as opposed to a "one size fits all" approach.

We are easy to talk to and we work collaboratively with my clients in a nonjudgmental environment. We strive to provide a space where they can freely express themself.

Yes, we can. In fact, we are solely doing telehealth.

We provide therapy virtually and we are flexible with scheduling due to illnesses that may be in the family.

“ CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns. These strategies might include:
Learning to recognize one's distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality. Gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others. Using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations. Learning to develop a greater sense of confidence is one's own abilities.
CBT treatment also usually involves efforts to change behavioral patterns. These strategies might include:
Facing one's fears instead of avoiding them.Using role playing to prepare for potentially problematic interactions with others. Learning to calm one's mind and relax one's body.” -APA

“Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas. First, mindfulness focuses on improving an individual's ability to accept and be present in the current moment. Second, distress tolerance is geared toward increasing a person’s tolerance of negative emotion, rather than trying to escape from it. Third, emotion regulation covers strategies to manage and change intense emotions that are causing problems in a person’s life. Fourth, interpersonal effectiveness consists of techniques that allow a person to communicate with others in a way that is assertive, maintains self-respect, and strengthens relationships.” -Psychology Today

“EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference. It is widely assumed that severe emotional pain requires a long time to heal. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma. When you cut your hand, your body works to close the wound. If a foreign object or repeated injury irritates the wound, it festers and causes pain. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. EMDR therapy demonstrates that a similar sequence of events occurs with mental processes. The brain’s information processing system naturally moves toward mental health. If the system is blocked or imbalanced by the impact of a disturbing event, the emotional wound festers and can cause intense suffering. Once the block is removed, healing resumes. Using the detailed protocols and procedures learned in EMDR therapy training sessions, clinicians help clients activate their natural healing processes.” - EMDR Institute Inc.

“The Grief Recovery Method helps grievers deal with those things they wish might have been different or better. It gives them the chance to address their dreams and hopes for the future, which is not the future they had planned. It helps them address the words left unspoken. It helps them with the lost relationship that they thought would cause them pain for the rest of their lives. All these things may sound too good to be true, but this research shows that this dream of a better tomorrow is very possible, thanks to the Grief Recovery Method Action Plan!” - The Grief Recovery Method
