How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
It depends on grade outside. Is there room for insulation? Can the space be expanded? Can the floor be framed properly? It is best to have a qualified contractor visit the property in person to observe the conditions.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Design how the space will look. Draw a construction set of framing, any plumbing, HVAC, electrical and insulation. Then drywall, flooring, windows, exterior siding and doors. A permit will need to be obtained. All of these steps are to be inspected and approved by the local building department and then an occupancy license will be issued. This is the typical process that a qualified contractor can complete.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Primarily the load bearing components need to be analyzed. Things such as the joist system and support beams usually need some increase in sizing long with some posting to bearing surfaces.

Analysis of the load bearing that exists and what upgrades are necessary. Competent contractors usually can complete this process for a simple project. Sometimes a structural engineer needs to be involved in more complicated circumstances. Then the rest of the job would proceed as the garage conversion. All the trades will need to be involved depending on the scope of work. Drawings and permits with inspections will also be required.

My wife and I started in 1991 doing handyman jobs.
What guarantee does your work come with?
We guarantee the labor for one year. Any problems will usually become evident by then. The building materials are backed by the manufacturers. We will replace faulty material which is generally covered by the manufacturer. If we improperly installed anything we will cover that labor.

The design and material portions can be done in part remotely after our initial visits. The actual execution of the project will be done on site. Most clients allow us to use a lock box such as realtors use. Some give us a temporary code for a garage door opener. We are flexible.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We wear masks and foot coverings. Sometimes special arrangements need to be put in place depending on the clients.
