Ken did an outstanding job and I have and will continue to recommend him to anyone for large renovation projects. Ken's crews completely gutted and renovated our 1920's bungalow in a matter of 5 months staying within budget and on schedule. The crews were all very respectful of our home even when it was down to just a shell, making sure to sweep up each night. They were also patient with my questions and frequent drop-ins to check-in on the progress, always eager to share what they were working on or offer a helpful suggestion. Ken was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had and went to bat for us several times during the process to make sure all tasks were completed with the highest quality. We hired Neuhoff Custom Builders for an extensive renovation project in our home, which included two custom/design bathrooms, adding a full laundry room, master closet, hardwood floors throughout, and installing lighting. We could not have been happier with our experience with them:
1) very TIMELY (which was important bc we had a baby on the way). They told us that they would be done before the baby arrived and they WERE.
2) No "surprises". Ken and Garfield (our project manager) did a GREAT job of working within our budget, and coordinating the logistics of the various projects in the house with us so that we always knew when and what was going on everyday. That was important to us.
3) Pro-Active. We had been in our house for less than a year before they started the renovations, and they were very helpful in answering our various questions and pointing out and discussing various things/issues that were outside the scope of our renovation project and we found that helpful and useful.
4). Follow up/Follow Through. There were only a couple "hiccups" (which is to be expected in any renovation project), and we were very impressed with how Ken followed through and fixed everything until we were completely satisfied with the outcome.

We used Neuhoff Custom Builders to renovate our tiny, very dated kitchen in our 1920's bungalow. From the start, we felt comfortable with Ken as he had been recommended by several of our neighbors. It's always nerve wracking trying to make visions into reality and I think Ken and his team did a great job! Everyone was very responsive to changes that needed to be made and we feel like we're living in a completely new house. The former owner of our house who had lived there for over 70 years was blown away as well! We have hired Ken Neuhoff for two major remodel projects, in 2011 a new kitchen, dining room, and mudroom including bumping out a wall to take over space from an unused porch, and most recently a 600 square foot addition with a bonus room, replacing two cramped, dated bathrooms with new ones, walk in master closet, office nook, utility closet with water filtration, and new roof and HVAC for the whole house. This latest project came in slightly under budget even with change orders, and despite numerous unavoidable delays, only a week off the schedule he gave us at the beginning. The previous project went similarly well - on schedule and on budget. Ken is very up front, honest, and transparent about everything, and goes out of his way to take care of any issues or problems. The work is quality and blends very well with the existing architecture of the house - many people have commented that the addition looks like it was always there. Neuhoff Custom Builders transformed our screened porch into a beautiful sunroom. Ken and his team were part of the original group when we had our home built 10 years ago. Many of the same guys still work for him, 10 years later! He has a creative crew with great workmanship and an eye for quality.
Even when there are little things that come up to delay the project (and ALL projects have their different issues), Ken is available to talk you through any concerns and he will explain each step of the process.

Ken Neuhoff performed a major kitchen and bath renovation/addition in our 1926 craftsman bungalow in 2009. The work performed was high quality and in keeping with the character of the house. Over several years Neuhoff Custom Builders has done three bathroom renovations for us plus additional small unrelated "fix ups" while they were here. We have been very pleased with the quality of the work, the competent and very personable workers, the timeliness and the quality of the subcontractors. Every case was done as cost-plus, and we definitely feel we got great value for our money.

We were also very comfortable with having much of the work done while we not even in town.

Neuhoff Custom Builders brought our 1937 home into the 21st century, and we could not be more pleased. From the very first meeting with Ken, we felt that he was trustworthy, talented and a good communicator. Our instincts were correct: he is all that and more. His subs were excellent and eager to please-- he obviously has wonderful relationships with them. He worked extremely well with our designer and always listened to our ideas and concerns. He was unfailingly calm, respectful and easily available by phone, email or text. He works on a cost/plus basis, and kept amazing records of our budget and costs from day one. We renovated most of our downstairs space, completely gutting the kitchen and adding about 400 square feet of new space. We added a powder room and remodeled our existing family room and mudroom with new hardwoods and custom cabinets. We added a new side entrance porch and widened doorways throughout the first floor. Ken Neuhoff was excellent to work with from start to finish. Not only did he translate our house plans seamlessly but he was easy to work with. Our home renovation was extensive-- full inside and outside transformation of a 1960's ranch, including completely new roof line. The finished product is exactly what we'd hoped for. He worked with us along the way to trim costs if need be and was open to continuing the bidding process with subs that weren't his when we weren't completely satisfied with the cost. Incidentally, we ended up with his sub after all. Our neighbors commented at the end of the project that the subcontractors were respectful of the neighborhood and left the work site in good shape each day. Finally, and most importantly to us, Ken was great to work with. He is responsive and open to comments as well as critiques. If some of our choices were going to change the budget, he would let us know in advance so that we could make adjustments as necessary. Given the extensive scope of the project, the timeline and budget were not far off and we were pleased. It was evident that his primary concern was to provide us with a quality result. For private residential work, my husband & I have worked with Ken for several projects over several years. We would highly recommend Neuhoff Custom Builders for renovations & improvements, small & large. We trust his pricing, his quality, his subs....we trust him. Ken was recommended to us by friends who worked with him for their complete kitchen renovation & garage addition that gave them a light filled family hub. Our home is circa 1954 & takes some TLC for improvement projects. Ken has completed work including a custom Ipe fence & gates, custom outdoor benches, guest room built-in's, new windows that greatly improved conditioned spaces, new Artisan exterior siding, bathroom tile & water-proofing, and several other projects. Ken Neuhoff and his crew did a 1600 sf. basement build out for me in the lower level of my house. This was for all practical purposes like new construction as it included framing, plumbing, electrical, insulation, sheetrock, trim work, flooring, painting etc. His crew was efficient, respectful and tidy. After my husband had an accident and was partially handicapped, Ken did an addition on our house that included an elevator and half bath. He also changed two steps to 3 steps and I had no idea that was even possible. And he turned a bathtub into a shower. Ken is wonderful to work with and his subs are equally nice. They were very neat which meant a lot to me. He has good ideas and suggestions and can help hold costs down when appropriate. He can explain how things need to be done.
