The Nky studio is awesome. I didn't understand the draw to hot yoga until I tried it a few times. It is an amazing workout. The heat may take you a few trips to get used to. Try going early and just laying to relax and get used to it. I love this studio! More...

It was my first time to ever try yoga.  My wife has been asking me for a while, so I finally broke down and tried it.  I have to say, it was awesome.  This is coming from a guy who can't touch his toes.  I didn't find it intimidating, the instructor was helpful and the front desk was extremely courteous.  I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that wants to try it.  I'll be going back. Wow. Great customer service. We had spoken to someone back in April to cancel a monthly membership for our daughter that we were paying for as a christmas gift from 2015. We thought the membership was cancelled, and our daughter did as well so she of course quit attending hot yoga (she was bummed about her Christmas gift).  Well to make a long story short my husband takes care of the bills and so I didn't look at the statements until just this month when I noticed the $99 was still being taken out off of our card each month!  So i called, explained, and no questions asked, the manager (who also answered the phone) refunded my money. All 7 months of it.  I was so shocked to actually have such polite customer service without a hassle. How refreshing!  Thank you. More...

Prior to attending Modo, I'd never practiced any type of yoga. So I was expecting to be a complete mess of a failure, but I wasn't. Modo is an incredibly welcoming environment. The studio is always clean, the staff is friendly (a few even startled me by saying 'hi' when I wasn't expecting it) and the vibe is obviously chill.Their floors are cork, and the studio itself always has a slight citrus scent in the air, which is refreshing since it's about 100 degrees. As far as prices go, it's great for students and introductory yogis, but it can be a bit steep if you don't fall into one of those categories. Luckily, they have an awesome program called the Energy Exchange, which makes it possible to volunteer at the studio in exchange for free yoga. Not many fitness centers offer anything like that, and I love their commitment to making sure people can attend. My favorite two instructors so far are Heather and Lauren at their Clifton location, as they have a way of calming me down and helping me be less self-critical.I'd suggest that even if you think you aren't into yoga, you give it a try at Modo. Because it makes you feel like a badass when you walk out of the studio sweated wet and carrying a lot less emotional baggage. More...

I took my first two hot yoga classes here and had a great experience. Each instructor had a different style yet still took ownership of their class. The studio was clean and comfortable. I do wish the changing area had a bit more room and perhaps another bathroom stall - I had to wait quite a while to use the restroom! I'd certainly recommend Modo to friends in Cincy. More...

I really like this place. I've been attending off an on from 2011 on. I'm happy to be back and find a better experience that I found about a year ago. This a a place that uses the same series of poses repeatedly, for each class. I found initially the instructors to be very detailed with postures and correct set up and I'm pleased to see the instructors reemphasizing them now, something I didn't find last year. There is a wide range of instructors, every one has a different style. Some like to talk a lot others respond to what they see our bodies doing. Some keep the heaters blazing the whole class, others don't. You should be able to find an instructor you like. I encourage you to keep coming back to try them all. The studio is very clean and ambient. Great care goes into detail. I remember when you could buy smart water here. Now they stray away from promoting plastic, and you can find a special water bottle faucet that appears to be filtered in the restroom. I am very pleased to see the offering of barre. It's nice to keep modo's offerings traditional but we appreciate the mix of classes. There is almost always a 6 am class and a 7pm or 8pm class. You can get in to a class even if your work weird hours. I would like to see Modo offer children series at NKY. I would like to see a series of toddlers/parents too. Maybe even just a 4 week workshop. I've tried other studios, I belong to a traditional gym that offers group classes, but this yoga studio is the cleanest, calmest, and most satisfying studio I have had the pleasure to visit. I recommend. More...

I just love it here at Moksha! Both of their locations are always clean, the staff/teachers are super friendly and helpful, and they have a great schedule of classes for everyone from beginners to kids to the crazy handstand addicts and everyone in between! Plus, you can rent towels, mats, and buy drinks and apparel. Cincinnati has recently expanded their space to include an extra studio with non-heated and lightly to moderate-heated classes (kids yoga space!), Flourish Massage space, and expanded locker rooms! I didn't die!Ok. Maybe that seems dramatic. But death wasn't completely off my list of fears before going into my first Moksha heated yoga class. It was joined by passing out, being the only one over 110lbs and my pants coming off.But none of those came to fruition. Instead I walked through the door into a lovely space that had a clean but not astringent smell. I was greeted by a warm smile from a stranger I now know as Heather (my favorite instructor already). She was super inviting and accepting and made me feel right at home. She directed me to the changing rooms and told me what to do for my first class. The changing rooms are nice and clean and offer hair ties and pins for your hair (which you will definitely need). Cubbies provided for personal items as nothing is allowed in the studio.I grabbed my $2 rental mat and my towels and water and went into the Jungle. It was hot and humid ,no lie. Just as Heather had said I was able to see how to set up by mat from the way the regulars had theirs already set. There is no talking in the studio so if you have a question it's best to find out before you go in.It was a long 75 minutes. But I made it through. I sweated at least 947 gallons and came out so red I look sunburned. However I felt amazing. Amazing. I've been back 4 times since in my first week and I plan to make it there as often as possible. Every instructor is unique but each class has left me further along in my yoga practice and I'm grateful for the welcoming feeling I've encountered from everyone there, students and teachers. The only drawback is the price. After the fantastic initial $40 unlimited introductory month the prices are steep. But I'm willing to cut something in my budget to keep coming. Hope to see you on the mats! More...

Frankly before Moksha arrived on the scene several years ago I wanted to like yoga but never could quite find my groove.  Enter Moksha Summer of 2008 and I was hooked from the first (ok, maybe the third) class. The heat, community and onsite massage therapist that rocks are all things that keep me coming back and even when I haven't been in a while because life gets in the way I dream about coming back to my mat in the 104 degree (give or take) heated room.In addition to the amazing endurance, flexibility and strength you can gain while practicing on a regular basis, I love the spirit of generosity that flows (literally) from Moksha.  Charity classes are weekly and if your budget is tight you may attend economy classes for a fraction of the normal investment.  They also have an energy exchange program for regular yogis who want to trade their time for classes.I always feel better upon walking into Moksha and even better when I walk out.  Better than any yoga experience I've ever had anywhere else. Can you feel the heat? No? Then go to Moksha for a heated class and sweat like you've never sweat before. It's a cleansing experience and a challenge for the mind and body. When I first tried a heated class at Moksha I thought I would be miserable, but by the end of the 75 minutes I felt like smiling. Yes, I was tired and sweaty, but it was a good tired, and a good sweaty. There aren't many workouts that are so complete. If you are thinking of trying heated yoga, or even non-heated, Moksha is a great place to go. I wanted to hate Moksha NKY's hot yoga. I didn't want to like being drenched in my own gross-ass sweat after 75 minutes of bending, stretching, reaching, and breathing. I didn't want to be one of those people who gets up and goes to the early 9am class in hopes of scoring a primo mat spot. But I didn't hate it, I do like it, and I am now that person.I've been practicing yoga for upwards of 10 years, and I'd consider myself at an intermediate level, but I'd never EVER liked hot yoga until Moksha. First of all, I have some aggressive sweat glands, so all yoga for me is hot yoga. I'm also a cheapskate, so I hate paying for classes when I can just do a Budokon DVD at home and no one will see how gross I get. Win/win, right? Not so much. There's something to be said about the energy of an actual yoga class with other people, led by a professional, and getting out of your house, out of your mind and into your body, and out of your comfort zone all together. The Moksha series is the same sequence every time, which I like. Some people may like to mix it up every class, but I find I can get into my practice more with that structured consistency. They also offer a wide array of different classes, including vinyasa flow, standard ashtanga, and yin yoga, but these are often in the smaller practice room, which can get cramped. I'm super-intrigued by the massage therapy they offer, and will report back on that once I give it a go.The Moksha studio is a very positive feeling place, which helps if you're not a regular or are new to yoga in general. The classes are a little pricey individually, but I invested in a 10-class pass, not only to save some dough, but also to force myself to get my ass up and go practice. If you have stress issues, stiff joints, and general tightness in your muscles from other activities (Zumba and weight lifting, for me), this yoga is the best way to get a good cardio and strength workout down deep into your muscles, without as much residual aches the next morning. Give it a shot, skeptics, but dudes, please do us all a favor and keep your shirts on. Just because it's hot yoga doesn't give you free range to get half naked in a roomful of ladies. We're onto you. I have never taken a hot yoga class before, or ANY yoga class for that matter. An out of town friend recommended it to me. So, I got on the good old google and started searching around Cincinnati. The thing that made me pick Moksha was the fact that they offer community classes for $7.50 and Karma classes for $5. (Regular class fee is $15). For a first timer, I figured a lower price would give me the chance to try it out without investing too much. Then I read the previous Yelp! reviews, which are wonderful, so I gathered up my two roommates and our biggest towels and we went the very next day. For only $9 we got an hour long class and rented mats.My first impression of the place was love at first sight. Everything from the lobby, the studio, the bathroom/changing room is clean and calming. We were greeted by Camilla, who would be our instructor, and she was very sweet & energetic. She gave us some tips when we told her it was our first time and really made us feel comfortable and welcome. The class itself was challenging for me as a beginner, but not so challenging that I wouldn't recommend it for beginners. In fact, there were lots of different students in different physical shape and skill level, so you really won't feel out of place at all. I took Camilla's advice and didn't push too hard since it was my first time, instead trying to focus on getting used to the heat and my breathing. I met another student who said it was her 5th class, and that it was the first time she didn't stop to rest at all. So I am assured that it will get easier as time goes on, and I will absolutely be returning at least once a week, because the way I felt afterward was incredible. More...

I haven't been for the Yoga...yet. I scheduled a massage with Amy. This dynamic gal knows her anatomy. She was working out knots and lengthening muscles I never even knew I had. I swear I emerged 3" taller (ok, not quite, but that would be a dream). The room was modern yet serene with a strong Ikea influence. They have a heated table and hot towels to further relax your muscles.  In the main entrance there are an array of yoga products and clothing. And the instructors I saw were fit as fiddles. I am new to bikram yoga aka hot yoga where the room is at 110 degrees, but I purchased an unlimited week long pass at Moksha for $20 to give it a shot. The hot yoga classes I attended were with Joseph, who is the studio director, and he is a wonderful teacher with a very calm and helpful way of instructing.I'm not particularly flexible in my hamstrings so he helped me modify poses so that I was stretching and relaxing the correct muscles.  I never felt uncomfortable or silly--which seems to be the case for yoga classes at gyms around here.Do yourself a favor and try the 90 minute Moksha (hot) class.  Don't feel nervous because there are always beginners and everyone is friendly and not at all judgmental.I love the studio and can say I'm a convert! This cool yoga studio is the place to go for hot yoga, known as Moksha. Students go through a series of yoga flows in a room heated to 100 degrees. You break a sweat just sitting peacefully meditating. After 90 minutes of practice, I was drenched...so much so that I couldn't even do a downward dog without slipping on my mat. Yet when I left, I almost felt euphoric. If you're thinking of trying Moksha, you must bring a full sized bath towel (to prevent mat slippage) and big bottle of water. If you forget these items, you can purchase or rent them at the front desk. Moksha also sells super stylish work out gear, so I can't wait to go back and shop! More...
