I really like it.
I'm a beginner and my instructor was laid back and helped my whole class; beginners too.
Not a competition sort of a place; you just enjoy the experience.
I'll def be going back.

Natalie is the best yoga instructor I've ever had. She's not only extremely knowledgeable about the body, but she's an approachable instructor. Her classes have always been such a gift to my soul and my heart. I've attended her classes off and on since 2011, and I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to honor their body with yoga. I cannot say enough good things about her practice. More...

I found Mindful and Embodied through a Groupon for fitness classes at various facilities for $20. The Groupon included five classes at the Mindful and Embodied studio; given that the studio is a few blocks away from my house, and in light of the terrific reviews I'd seen online, it seemed like, even if I didn't use the Groupon for anything else, $20 was a great investment for five classes here!  I went to my first class last night. The space is really small (like the size of your college living room) and a little hard to find from a crowded parking lot off 600 S.  But if you're like me and you haven't been exercising regularly lately for whatever reason (me = childbirth (fine, he's two, but I'm a recently divorced single mom so time for myself is a precious commodity!)), it is so relaxing and welcoming when you come in that you quickly forget it was a bit of a hassle to get there. The instructor, Natalie, was terrific, especially for an easily intimidated, out of shape, generally squishy newcomer like me.  The class was not physically taxing, but nor did I expect it to be given that its title was something like "rest and relaxation."  I'm excited to sign up for my next class and really hope to develop a more regular, long-term yoga practice at this studio. This humble studio is an amazing place for everything from learning the yoga philosophy, to practicing what you learn, to making great relationships with a lovely little community of the friendliest of friends. This place I can honestly say is like a second home. It is such a nurturing atmosphere created by Natalie and the people who come to learn there. I took one of the yoga teacher training courses offered by Natalie and finished it just a few months ago. I loved that it was an incredibly personal experience with just myself and three other students. Natalie is an incredibly skilled yoga and biosync practitioner that you witness firsthand when you take her personalized classes. Her sequences of postures, meditations and biosync techniques are all incorporated into the most graceful and deeply relaxing sets. She took me places in my practice and in my life I never thought it possible to reach before. I learned so much here. This kind of intimate atmosphere for a yoga teacher training is hard to come by here in Salt Lake City. It's absolutely an amazing place! More...

Q&As

Yoga is a discipline. Depending on the goals of my clients, I use a variety of styles. Some styles of Yoga are very active and challenging. Strength and muscle tone is gained by many of the postures and the approach taken to move through them matters. At Mindful and Embodied, every client is able to work at their level and regardless of the fitness level, everyone will benefit and see results with practice. Clients also find that they gain a lot more than a healthy body. They eat better, move away from bad habits and old patterns, experience a sense of peace, feel a reduction in stress and anxiety. I help clients with issues around depression or with trauma and how to use their body to heal and find joy in life.

Acceptance, consistent practice, patience. If you find something you enjoy doing and it is good for your body, do it! Many people think they need to exercise at levels that are not for them. Some approaches aren't for all people. Sometimes we are looking for more than just a fit body but a healthy life altogether. A lot of the times, our bodies move out of their 'blueprint' because of issues that we aren't dealing with and it's just a way to get your attention. When you start to listen to your body, many good things come to you.

I get to teach others about a path to wellness that has been helping me for 19 years now. It works and I love seeing the freedom my clients and students reach when they start living life without all of the perceived limitations, fear, guilt, or shame we can all posses. I love connecting with people, being real and providing a space for people to feel comfortable and safe enough to be real as well. It is then that I start to see changes that are profound. Not only do I practice this and experience it, I love seeing students and clients experience epiphanies or let go of pain they've been carrying for years. When we stretch against the edges and resistance of muscle, ligament, and tendon, we also stretch against the boundaries and ignorance of our own minds and hearts and in the stretching, painful as it sometimes is, we expand, we grow and we change.

I wanted to share what helped me so much with other people. I am good at what I do and I also have a very strong understanding of the scientific as well as holistic approaches to a Yoga practice and how to make it applicable to people from all walks of life. I wanted to provide a safe place to talk about the stuff we try to push away or don't want to address. When we are aware of what we need, even if it is scary to us, it is nice to have tangible tools that give us an opportunity to directly address them through various process that do not involve thinking or reliving them. The body has an intelligent system all on its own.

I have studied many styles of Yoga. I understand some of the darkest pains of life and I am able to relate to many people regardless of their belief system, perceived limitations, or learning style. This is my lifestyle and it is rooted in ancient wisdom that has proven itself effective for thousands of years. We've only started to recognize this in the last century or so and even more so in the last 30-40 years. With a combination of my knowledge base and study as well as my personal practice and consistent application, I am able to guide people through a healing process that starts with the body and as a result, our minds start to quiet down. When we are free of all of the clutter, we can live from our authentic selves and not from our experiences or what we identify with.

Services

People take Yoga teacher trainings for a lot of reasons. Some want to teach it to others and make it a career or something they do on the side.
Others take a teacher training in Yoga so they can gain a deeper understanding of it and get the most out of the benefits that it provides for their physical, mental, spiritual and emotional selves. This training is like taking a course in school but instead of just learning everything from the philosophy to anatomy, you also apply it and live it. It teaches you life skills that will not fail you if you practice and if you practice with intention, earnestness, frequency an with the right knowledge, your life will be easier. Things will come to you and you won't have to chase them or justify yourself. You are as wonderful as you wish you were. Come learn how to uncover that!

Did you know that every stressful moment you have experienced and every negative emotion you have ever felt is stored in some part of your body all the way down to the cellular level? It’s in your muscles, your connective tissue, your joints, and in your organs. Simply knowing and even discussing a traumatic experience in our lives doesn’t necessarily mean we process it. The mind is only capable of so much and can become overloaded and might not perceive things accurately. The body kindly participates with the mind in our experiences and is every bit as intelligent and capable of healing long lived injuries and traumas as well as speeding along the process of healing new ones. This type of relaxing and grounding bodywork facilitates these processes and puts the skeleton back into place while working with the muscles and retraining them to work correctly and harmoniously.

Upcoming workshops will be on The Chakra System and also creative sequencing for Yoga classes. See the website for more details
