I did not choose Matthew based on any recommendation. I had nothing to go on but comparing the websites of various local studios. I thought that Matthew’s website was by far the most helpful of these sites. He explains the process in detail – even providing tips in case you decide to take your own shots. So I scheduled my shoot with him. Matthew made me feel completely at ease, and I enjoyed the session. I just got my photos back, and I’m very pleased with the results. Bonus: His studio is in an amazing old building - it's a treasure trove of musical instruments, vinyl LPs, old wall maps, etc. Matthew gave me the tour when I stopped by while deciding on a photographer, and the tour alone was worth the trip. I am extremely happy with how my headshots turned out. I've never done a photo shoot before, had no clue what I was doing, and typically don't like pictures of myself. Matt made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. He provided advance instructions on how to prepare and what to bring. The studio was very professional and set up perfectly. During the shoot, Matt coached me on how to hold myself, what makes a great picture and what to watch out for. After taking a series of pictures, we evaluated them together. He provided his input and he listened with care to my critiques and what I would change for the next round of photos. In the end I loved so many of the images I couldn't choose! I've got my new headshot posted in all the usual places and I get tons of compliments. Matthew's photos for my LinkedIn page turned out excellent. He made me feel very relaxed at the shoot and worked with me to get the best pose and facial expression. He even plays your favorite music during the shoot to make you feel at home in his studio.The entrance to his place is a little unnerving as it is a steel door with no outside signage. Don't let that stop you. Inside he has a full photo studio and you get to see all of the many shots he takes for you to choose from. Matthew is fantastic! I was looking for a reasonably priced professional acting head shots, and I ended up having more great photos than I know what to do with. I think because of the way that he shoots, tethered, he can show you the pictures throughout the session so you know how you are doing and can refine the looks you are going for. Matthew's personality will put you at ease, which will help you relax, and therefore get great photos. Matthew will "direct" you in poses in order to bring out the true you. He will capture you with a smile, a stern look, a sauve look, or a look that fits your personality. He takes many, many photos, and you view them together on his iMac to narrow down the best photos.
