How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Your project is completely customizable. As long as you obey building code requirements, you can create any type of living space with your garage remodel. The only limitations you have when converting your garage to living space are those set upon you by local regulations and budgetary restrictions.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
Since you are changing how the space will be used, you will most likely need building permits, though this can vary by location. This is the first step.
Second step is getting everything designed and engineered. Then its shopping time! We will select the material that will be used. Followed by the work actually being completed. If your space requires a permit, it will also require an inspection at the end of the renovation to make sure you have met all building code and zoning requirements.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
When thinking about converting your loft space, the most important factor to consider is the existing structure.
There are two main types:
- Traditional Roof & Modern Trussed Roof. Trussed roofs can be more difficult to convert than traditional roofs. The problem with trussed roofs is that, because of their W shape, the frame generally takes up most of the loft, meaning the entire frame must be replaced. However, this endeavour is by no means impossible - it just maybe a little more expensive to undergo.
Run us through the different stages in the loft conversion process - what’s involved?
Our process is seamless in getting the job done correctly and to the clients satisfaction. Instead of boring you with each stage we would take, let me explain on how we would figure it if its even possible to do it. Here are some reasons we couldn't do it. Your roof is too low and raising it is impossible – this is one of the most common reasons why a loft cannot be converted. Of course, there are several ways around this, such as raising the entire roof or lowering the ceilings. But, if these two options are not possible for any reason, then you cannot carry out a loft conversion in your home.
If you live in a flat and don’t hold the freehold to the flat and loft space, a loft conversion is completely out of the question.
You live in an area that is designated as a conservation area or live in a listed building. Authorities are very reluctant to allow alterations in these areas unless it is absolutely necessary, and it can be difficult, if not impossible, to convince the building regulations authority that a loft conversion is essential in these buildings. However, there are a few instances where homeowners were able to come up with a design that passed conservation rules and so got approval.
