What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Making the process fun and enjoyable is most important to me. Not everyone likes to have their photograph taken. Also, lighting is key, along with knowledge of post-production editing for the client's desired images.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
For commercial work, this can run a wide gamut to include scope of project, end deliverable, budgeting, hair, makeup, wardrobe, studio rental, and more.
For portraits, would the client prefer in-studio or outside? How large is the family? What specific "look" do you prefer (I have a few different approaches with the look & feel of my work; my clients get to choose the color profiles & style they prefer).
For real estate, it's fairly straightforward. I'll need to know the address, whether or not an agent or homeowner will be present for the photoshoot (if not, will require the lockbox code). Will also need a point of contact (agent or seller), the day/time, what direction the home faces (will impact when I recommend doing the shoot), any additional a la carte items the agent wants for marketing, and an email for the agent. Will also take payment information from the agent.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the creative process, and providing that "wow" factor to my clients. Great photos of special moments in life are priceless, and I enjoy being a small part of the process of creating these memories.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've worked corporate jobs in the past, and got burned out. I chose to start a photography business to tap into my gifts...I'm a creative, for sure.
Why should our clients choose you?
I'm honest, hardworking, and always make things right for the client. Communication is easy and straightforward. My goal at every photo shoot is to make everyone feel comfortable and to have fun. This might mean that I act a little goofy at times...hey, whatever gets the shot!
My online purchase process is streamlined so that I don't waste my client's time. For portrait work, I create a private webpage for my clients to log in to see all of their photos, and purchase whatever combination of prints & frames they prefer.
It's all about capturing life's most important moments. Everyone deserves beautiful photos, and I feel honored to be a part of this process.
