Matt was really helpful in talking through with me a number of issues mainly to do with boundaries at work, in my relationship with my daughter and in other relationships. I found him easy to communicate with and he was never rushed to finish off conversations at the end of the allotted time and even was available between sessions. I found myself struggling after the death of my husband, dealing with my job and being mum to 2 young girls.
I was unable to sleep which was making problems worse. After my sessions with Matt my sleep pattern improved which helped me dealing with things.
Matt was easy to open up to and I usually find opening up to anyone really difficult. Matt was supportive while I cried at times through our calls and helped me to remember the person I was before grief and how I can be that person again.
Our calls were never rushed and Matt was available anytime if I needed support.
After our sessions I feel more at peace and able to move slowly on with my life.

I booked a block of 8 sessions with Matt (which I then added to) after struggling to cope with my divorce during what was already a very tough year for me.

This was my 1st experience of counselling and I found it to be hugely beneficial.

Right from the start, talking to Matt felt like having a conversation with an old friend who had lots of good advice.
The conversation is very much 2-way and tailored to whatever I needed to speak about each time.

Matt helped me to navigate some very difficult weeks as well as helping me to work on myself and focus on my future.

As I come to the end of these sessions I feel far better equipped to deal with what life throws at me.

I was apprehensive at first doing counselling over the phone but Matt made me feel at ease right away.
He was able to listen to me and offer the 1% changes I could make to my day to enable me to be better prepared, emotionally and physically.
We then talked about things that I never dealt with in my past and to look at them in a new light and enable myself to give me a break. It has meant that I’m happier with who I am and Matt has given me the insight to see that.

I turned to Matt, after I found my life spiralling out of control due to a bereavement I could not come to terms with.

I also had many other distantly related issues I knew I had to deal with and come to terms with.

After only 3 sessions, Matt has completely changed my perception and outlook on life.

It won't be an overnight "cure"; I have to put the work in as well and the way he has taught me to address things past and present is invaluable.

I feel ready now to do this by myself and also know should I have a wobble, Matt will be there any time I may need him.

I was at a crossroad in my life and I reached out for some help.

Matt contacted me, where we spoke about my anxiety and other personal and professional matters that were happening at the time.

I then had a further couple of phone calls with Matt, where I found him to be very professional, approachable and understanding of what I was going through.

He pointed me in the right direction on how to best deal with these matters, including the benefits of meditation and having the right mindset.

I started speaking to Matt at the end of April 2020, due to life events out of my control. The first step is always the hardest, so after having spoken to friends, searched the net, I didn't really get anywhere. Still in a place of unrest, one last attempt brought me to talking to Matt. I must say in a very quick time and that for me was the key.

Speaking to him, on the phone, for over 2 hours gave me the confidence to actually open up and say what was going on at the time and very importantly, I started eating again afterwards. This being the lowest point in my life with mixed emotions, no goals and nowhere to turn; he helped me rebuild my future.

My only regret was not finding Matt sooner in life. Matt instantly made me feel he was there to help, as someone that wanted to listen and who interacted on a level I understood.

Doing homework again was a very new thing (a bit like going back to school) and it gave me the inspiration for dealing with the new events in my life and becoming clear of my life direction and purpose (in my personal and professional life).

That in itself made the difference to me. Not just to talk about what was going on; to also talk about what I wanted. Specifically, to help me progress to where I am today.

I was at a point in my life, of not knowing where or what to do next. Definitely not in a good place then and with Matt's guidance, I have now begun to achieve more, especially through his help to set new and clear goals based on my passion.

Matt is a person with passion and a clear purpose of helping others. I have full confidence that he will help others in their lives.

With Matt's advice, I now have developed new skills, including coping with stress and many other life matters.

For that, I am truly grateful to Matt and can never thank him enough.

I created a profile on Bark and within a day I heard from Matt, we spoke over email and on the phone. I hadn't decided if I would take on therapy with him but we spoke for nearly 30 minutes and felt that what I had to say was important.

I enjoyed speaking with Matt about my personal battles. Matt was easy to talk to and first helped me to realise what the issue was before creating solutions to help me solve them.
After the session, I had felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

I have had my first few sessions with Matt this week and can honestly say I feel in such a more positive headspace than ever! I usually don’t like opening up and admitting to some struggles but Matt made me feel so comfortable that I could tell him anything, judgement free. He was so logical and made me understand a new way of thinking and how to start incorporating things into my life that I never really knew how to with so much amazing advise. Matt has changed my thinking and given me a new outlook in my life in terms of mentality, focus and drive for now and the future. Matt is unlike anybody I have met before even though our consultations were over the phone he showed a lot of empathy and compassion towards my situation. I am usually not very good at opening up but Matt spoke in a way that is not intrusive and non judgmental he made me feel completely comfortable and safe when I would normally feel most vulnerable that is a skill I believe comes with experience and it's something you cannot teach. He goes the extra mile for the people he works with I believe that is invaluable in this profession. He wants you to strive to achieve the best life possible. I'm new to this journey I'm about to embark on and Matt was my first point in my adventure. I say adventure, because it will be and I feel after talking to Matt that it's not about pulling out the negatives - it is about what I'm going to discover, and discover about myself.

I found Matt on Bark.com, after I filled in a form, regarding my troubles and to help address my traumatic past. Matt was one of the first counsellors that contacted me. I have enjoyed our phone calls. I feel that he has a powerful way, of being able to bring positive enlightenment to a person’s life.

It is my first time being a member on Bark.com and speaking to a counsellor. I’m glad that Matt and I found each other. From our first phone call, I noticed that he was kind, professional and a sympathetic man, who has extensive wisdom and is very generous with his time.

In the first 10 minutes of our phone call, I felt like I could open up more around Matt and I could tell him my troubles. This actually speaks volumes for me, because I do struggle to open up around people these days.

Dealing with the loss that the Coronavirus has brought all of us, is stressful enough, because it had taken away loved ones, our liberty of movement, our right to make choices and it is also influencing our family, career and livelihood -- if we let it. Anger can occur when someone harms the other in some form or manner and it is utterly disagreeable to the person is experiencing it. Fear can also be the basis of anger is fear - what have you lost out on or what might you lose out if the worst happens? Also what frustrates you? Are you taking it out on yourself and others? Confronting this matter can take a fair amount of emotional energy and it requires patience and openness. The end result will be relief and a sense of resolution that the matter was dealt with.

Depression can be related to any matter in one's life: family, personal, due to a relationship (past or present), a breakup, an unsatisfactory home life or an unfulfilling career. Trauma can be known or unbeknown to someone in some cases. This can include rape, abuse (i.e. physical, emotional, verbal or sexual) or a violent act. Discussing these matters can help ease the pain and eventually to be able to move on in one's life.

Phobias and addictions can be debilitating, extremely harmful, painful and toxic to ourselves and to others living with it. It is time to rid yourself of barriers, blocks or 'crutches' that are creating more harm than good. Take the first step in wanting help to rid yourself of 'the elephant in the room', in order to take your power back for you and your loved ones.

Do you find yourself arguing with everyone lately? Fed up with working from home? Miss meeting up with colleagues and friends? If yes, for the above, it may be due to the Coronavirus OR it may be, because there were some issues with others for a while in the past, that are coming up now. This is an opportunity to get closer to others, as our lives have slowed down considerably, either with members of your family that you live with or with family, friends or colleagues by fully utilising web and phone technologies. Communication tools are there, however you must be aware what are the underlying issues behind the conflict and tension. Then, it is a matter of how to openly and respectfully discuss these matters.

Under our current circumstances, it has brought on a period of questioning our mortality and what we are meant to BE and do in this life. Of course, our life, our family and loved ones and even our possessions are all important components of our lives. Yet, some people are questioning - Is this it? Are you a spiritual being in a body or a body with spirit? What gives you meaning in life? What is your purpose in life?

Lost your job? Been furloughed? Fed up with your career or realising your work is not what you really want to be doing for the remainder of your working life? Now is the time to get honest with yourself and for others around you. Life is too short and time is ticking away. Be authentic and listen to your inner voice, get past the fear and put yourself in a position of power by moving towards what you really want to do. Put in the time to retrain, reskill and then pivot and transition yourself into what really brings you joy and where you can provide value and service to others. Is it easy? No, it isn't. With some help, guidance and support; you can get there.

The most basic and essential component in life, that is required, to reach true happiness and fulfilment within our lives and to love others is to love ourselves first. This is the foundation and the prime responsibility to ourselves. Yes, we are worthy and loveable, just the way we are. Self-esteem, self-respect and self-confidence emanate from the love we have for ourselves. Healing from past family and personal relationships is key to bring love and acceptance within us.

Our everyday thoughts (positive or negative), when repeated often enough (knowingly or not) create beliefs and those beliefs rule our lives. Only when we change our thoughts, will our beliefs change that will lead to new habits, rituals, actions and ultimately results and outcomes. Are you pleased with the way you are thinking? Do you want to change your beliefs on something? Are you maintaining the habits you require? Finally, are you getting the results and outcomes that you are seeking?

95% of our mind is running our day. Specifically, our subconscious mind, which controls 95% of our thoughts and actions runs our life. Our 5% conscious mind consists of a slow processing speed and contains our wishes and desires. Our subconscious mind (made up primarily from infancy and early childhood, up to the age of 7) is habitual, with a very fast processing speed and consists of programs or software (positive or negative) that are running our lives and we have the ability to master our thoughts and beliefs by reprogramming our mind to match our conscious mind and then lead our mind towards what we want in our lives (and not by the faulty programming that we learned from our past).
