About

Your body is unique, and so is our holistic approach to personal training. Because your brain and nervous system control all of your physical movements, we incorporate your nervous system into your exercise plan. It’s an efficient method that blends biomechanics (how your particular body moves), neurology (how your nervous system responds to movement), eastern wellness methods and personal training.

Carolyn is an exceptional massage therapist. Highly intuitive, she relaxes and coaxes the body into releasing deep knots, often in areas in which I had no idea there was tension. I always left the table in a deeply serene state. Wish I was still in the area! More...

I had my first session/consultation with Shane recently. I went into the appointment with a few questions about mobility issues in my body. While we did some of the processes to evaluate your body/ brain’s reaction to movement and neurological reaction to requested actions, we made headway in working on something I didn’t even think could be something that was addressed. We also found it may be the source of more of my issues than I realized!
I have a cataract in my right eye that I was born with, and I’m considered legally blind on that side... it’s actually something I’ve gotten so used to in my life I almost forgot to even mention it to Shane (although I feel pretty confident he would’ve figured it out quick. )
We did a series of tests and practices that were helping actually stimulate muscle movement in my right eye (which having a lazy eye was always one of my major concerns) and we were able to fire up my eye and have it be more active.
I understand that my vision may not be improved at all by what we’re working on, but after we did the exercises to activate the muscles in my eye it also affected the way the rest of my body was moving because I’ve been compensating for years (probably most of my life ) . I was somewhat aware of my imbalances caused by my vision issue, but didn’t realize how much It influenced my movement in the world. I am very much looking forward to working with Shane again .

Q&As

Customization & Habits. By assessing your nervous system's response to movement and exercise we can identify the best exercises in the correct volume for you. Many times what prevents people from achieving their goals is a compensation the body made a long time ago to a problem you didn't know you had. After identifying any compensations, a customized workout can be created to retrain the body. Then habits can be built to make sure the compensation doesn't come back. That is the trick to unlocking your potential.

Prioritization and Understanding. If you can't prioritize the time to eat well and move, you won't be able to change. Additionally, if you don't know what to do with the time you've prioritized, your results will suffer as well. It's important to remember that health and wellness is a journey, not a sprint. You don't have to do everything at once, just be a little bit better each day.

Helping people feel good in their own bodies and enjoying life on a whole new level. When you're out of pain and moving well, you can have more fun than you previously thought possible.

The love of working with people and educating them on the right and wrong ways to get fit and healthy. There is a lot of bad information out and it prevents people from making smart decisions about their diet and exercise. I want to empower them with the right tools so that they can begin living the life they want to lead.

Experience, knowledge, and attention to detail. I have a Master's degree in Biomechanics (human movement) and extensive training in functional neurology. The biomechanics background allows me to understand when my client is moving appropriately and safely (and when they aren't). The functional neurology training provides me with the ability to assess how my client is responding to exercise at a fundamental level and gives me unique tools to approach problems from different angles.

Services

In this program, participants work directly with one trainer. Based on their history and goals, a personalized warm-up is created for each participant. They then learn the foundational movements required for exercise, sport, and life before any loads are added. Vision and balance systems are also trained and integrated because modern neuroscience is proving they are critical to quality movement. This prevents progress limiting injuries and develops a base for lifelong health. After completing the introductory program, participants may continue with their trainer or move into small group programs.

This classes are only for participants who have completed either the introductory one-on-one training or the large group program. With 2-4 participants per trainer, it is important that each participant has the propper foundation to load their bodies effectively. This ensures maximal results with minized injury risks.

Focusing on The 3 Pillars of fitness and health - movement, balance, and vision - as the foundation of your training will ensure faster results and long-term success. Taking a step beyond the traditional movement training, science is now proving that intentional vision and balance training are also necessary. During each of the 12 weeks in the program, you will have a 90-minute group training experience. During these sessions, you'll explore new health and fitness concepts, as well as practice new skills within each of the three pillars. Most importantly, you’ll identify which of these new skills impacts your body positively, to create a customized training program specific to your individual needs.
