Will is your go to guy for any of your dog training needs! We did a board and train program for two weeks with my 5 month old Pit-bull mix puppy named Rossco. -We started w/ Will's first training session, he introduced Rossco to the prong collar and had so much information to give us! Will has so much information to give you about any question or concern about your dog, he really is very well informed, and knows his stuff. After the first lesson we decided that a two week board and train would be awesome to start Rossco off with a great foundation for training in the future. Will posted videos of Rossco the whole time, showing his progress, and explaining his reasons behind everything he was doing. Will also was in constant contact with me about Rossco's progress and any issue/ concern that came about. When it was time to pick Rossco up we were shocked at how well trained he had become in those short two weeks. Prior to the board and train Rossco was terrible on the leash, he couldn't focus and was always pulling. He had ZERO impulse control ( mostly because he is still a puppy). Rossco hated the crate and would go into panic mode whenever we put him in it. The only commands he knew were sit, laydown, and sometimes stay. Post the board and train Rossco now calmly walks on the leash, right by our side. He doesn't pull, lunge, or try to walk in front of us. Rossco now sleeps/ hangout in his crate all the time, it has become his quiet place. He has become a much easier dog to take on walks and we couldn't be happier. Will really is there to help you through out the training and after it. Will is there to answer any and all questions even after the board and train as you transition your dog back into your home with the new set of rules and boundaries that he has made. Will has really helped us to understand what role we play in our dogs life and how to keep Rossco calm and balanced. Training has to be maintained and Will has been there to help whenever we need it! Will is extremely dedicated to his work, he is passionate, and he forms amazing bonds with the dogs he is training. He is very professional and is there to help you through any issues you may have. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dog trainer in the Boston area!! More...

Having The Local Pack Dog Walking care for my puppy was the best decision of my life. They go the extra mile just to make sure you know that your dog is in great hands. They are reliable, friendly, and very respectful and caring. I’ve been having my Puppy walk with them for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed apt of improvement in her! When I use to take her for a walk it would be difficult because It would feel like she is walking me. After being wih The Local Pack, I’m able to walk her with no problems and she’s more obedient! She even sits on command which I was trying so hard to get her to do! I highly recommend this Place. The Owner Willian Honorato goes above and beyond to make sure you and your best pal are happy and in good hands! More...

We have been using Local Pack for about 1 month now. I have to start off by saying that Will is so great! He is punctual, flexible, professional, and courteous. Both Jenny and I know that our pups, Patches and Chubs are well cared for. I like that this company has a tracking app that I can use to see how long our pups walked along with cute pics! We are so very pleased with the services provided and look forward to many more dog walks to come! Thank you again Will! More...

I have a beautiful pure bred pitbull puppy but I had a really tough time training her. Walking her was such a hassle as well. I’ve tried a few places to see if they could help me in any way but the prices were just too much and the reviews they had weren’t so good. I felt like I wouldn’t be leaving her in good hands until I stumbled upon The Local Pack. My friend recommended that I speak to them and when I was able to sit down and go over what I needed assistance in, I was instantly explained throughly what the process was and the price was just right. It’s been a week and my baby has shown improvement. They walk your dogs for you and train them so well. Will was helping me and I have to say, he is Mr. Cesar Jr! Highly recommended this place. We recently did a board-and-train program with Will at Local Pack and it was LIFE CHANGING! I absolutely 100% recommend Local Pack for all of your dog training needs, especially the board-and-train. About Our Dog: Our dog Snufkin is a rescue beagle. He is about 4, and we adopted him 2 years ago. When we first adopted him he had so much separation anxiety -- he tore apart his crate, was terrible on his leash, had so much anxiety that he had repeated vet visits for gastric distress. We eventually got into a tolerable rhythm because he has such a wonderful and loving soul, but weren't able to bring him many places with us because he would get anxious and nauseous in the car, and wouldn't be able to sit still without constantly whining at work. We love snufkin and wanted him to be able to come with us at our dog-friendly work places, and to take him on vacations around new england in the car and using his kennel at night. We found Will on yelp and he graciously offered to come to our home for a free consultation. About the process: the consultation was about 2 hours. Will talked us through his methods/tools/philosophy, and observed snufkin in our home and on a walk. What I instantly appreciated about Will is his attention to Snufkin's specific needs. He worked with snufkin for awhile in the demo and we were able to see his dedication, patience, and commitment to have snufkin succeed. After the consult will explained that he thought snufkin would need 1-2 weeks of boarding to begin to unlearn bad behaviors and learn new ones. He reinforced how this would be a team effort and that we would need to commit to continuing practicing afterwards for at least 6 months.During snufkin's stay he led a structured life 24/7 -- it's like zen camp for dogs! He practiced structured walks, relaxing in 'place' for multiple hours at a time (to prep for what he would need to do at work), learning to love his kennel as a safe quiet space, and learning to control his emotions.  IN 2 WEEKS MY DOG LEARNED HOW TO CONTROL HIS OWN EMOTIONS!!! I feel like I need a board-and-train for my own life :)We visited Snufkin twice during his training to learn and practice the training methods ourselves. Each visit was about 2 hours long -- plenty of time to gain comfort in the methods. Will even offered a 3rd week for free to continue working with snufkin's car issues, demonstrating true commitment to snufkin's wellbeing. The results? Both my husband and I have brought snufkin to work and all of our colleagues have remarked how well behaved, kind, and welcome he is. I work in a chaotic and crowded open-office, and snufkin is able to relax in his bed calmly and enjoy life and being with me. It is so life changing! Snufkin can go on off-leash walks, and people come up to me on the street and comment how well-trained he is. I also feel well prepared to continue his training myself and develop new routines that don't add stress or large amounts of time to my day. He is also doing much better in the car! He is able to lay down and rest and not get sick or excessively slobber (which is what he used to do).It still takes work and there are times when we struggle -- the great thing is that Will is available by email or text to help troubleshoot issues and help us work through them. He also offers a total of 6 in-person hours after the training is complete to help us with anything we need. What I love about Will as a dog trainer: He is compassionate about dogs and not at all judgemental about humans. He has years of experience training dogs of all types, and does so with confidence and the dog's best interest at heart. He is truly the dog whisperer of the Boston area! This was the best money I have spent in a long time -- if you are hesitating about doing a board-and-train or about going with Local Pack, I 100% urge you to do it! We had been trying to train our dog for a few years with mixed results. He was definitely a smart puppy but it was a challenge to give him structure due to his separation anxiety.

Will came to meet us and immediately impressed us with his candor, patience, and confidence. His Board and Train program was an amazing success - even more than we imagined - and has made a massive difference in our lives and the life of our dog. Will managed to do in three weeks what we hadn't been able to do for two years! His training is amazing. He is communicative and clearly cares about the lives of dogs and their owners. We highly recommend his programs for training any and all dogs.

Q&As

Hi everybody, My name is Will Honorato, Founder and Owner of The Local Pack Dog Training. I've been training dogs for about 4 years now but really I've been training dogs my whole life. I officially got into the dog training business and opened my company about a year ago, in 2016. I know what it's like to be frustrated with your dog. I know what it's like to feel hopeless and afraid that your dog might never change. I've been there, and let me tell you there is always a solution. Every dog can be rehabilitated, no matter their age or breed!

I opened this business with one vision in mind. Millions of dogs are killed, beaten, and abandoned every year because their owners don't know how to handle them. Millions of owners are living in chaos and hating their lives with their dogs. It is my personal mission to help spread basic dog training to all dog owners. I plan on doing this through all of the free content that I offer on all of our social media accounts and website. Our social media accounts are all dedicated to giving away free advise and tips on how to teach your dog manners and basic obedience. I believe that this alone will help save many lives a year, and it will also help people shift their mentality on dogs in general. Whether you're a dog lover or not, many human lives and dog lives can be saved if we all just become more aware and put in a little bit of effort.

Our love for dogs and dog training is only half the reason as to why this company was established. Millions of dogs are put down, abandoned, or mistreated yearly because of their obedience and behavioral issues. We believe that we can help many of those struggling dog owners better understand their dogs, and understand how to train them. We can help you either through our paid services, or through our free content on our website and social media pages. All of our social media pages are dedicated to giving away free information to all dog owners on how to train their dogs. Together we can save many dog lives each year, and help many dog owners live in harmony with their pets!! We truly believe that holding ourselves accountable and putting ourselves on trial everyday is the only way to truly become the most unique dog service that there is.

We are a dog training company but at the same time we are much more than that. Our vision is to create a better life for every dog owner and their dog, through trust, love, and partnership. We want to spread basic dog training knowledge to every dog owner so that they may better understand their pet and how to better communicate with them, leading to an ultimately happier life for both pet and owner. We want to add significance to the relationship between every dog and their owner. By spreading compassion through our love for dogs and people we want to indefinitely affect the people around us. We want to be the change we wish to see in the world, and we believe that our love for dogs is enough to initiate some change in the way that we ultimately treat those around us. We are all one people. Our goal is to help our neighbors understand and realize that we are all a part of this pack. Together we thrive, but alone we perish. Let's get together and spread basic dog training knowledge to everyone. Together we can save some lives!

Services

Very important disclaimer! The 2 to 3 week programs are designed for dogs that are NOT human or dog aggressive or that have high levels of fear and anxiety as that takes longer to work with. Although we do offer programs that tailer specifically to these red zone type of dogs (5 WEEKS)

All of our programs are specially tailored for behavior rehabilitation, as they revolve highly around obedience commands. So many dogs are great at obedience, but they can not hold a command around basic distractions. Many dogs also do not have a calm and submissive state of mind. It is extremely important to us and the dog, that we are able to work with the dog on these issues.

The most important thing we will work on is having a calmer dog that listens better and is not reactive to all of the environmental stimulants around your home and in the real world. The number one thing that any trainer should highly value is teaching focus. Most of the dogs that we get to rehabilitate simply have a focusing issue. We train your dog to focus on you (their handler) almost all of the time and most of their behavioral issues will disappear. With that starting theory, we are able to then train your dog on the obedience commands that you are looking for and that all dogs are capable of having. We look at dog training as a lifestyle and not a series of tricks. Our training and rehab program becomes part of your lifestyle.

As far as obedience we work on the following with your dog throughout their board and train program:

Walking properly on a leash without pulling, barking, lunging, sniffing, or reacting to dogs and/or distractions
Sit/Stay
Down
Duration Work – your dog’s off switch. Teaches calm on command, so you have a chill dog when you need it.
Place command - (for the dog this means “lay down on this spot and stay put with a calm mind”)
Correcting bad behaviors – jumping up on people, jumping on countertops, mouthing, nipping, chasing, playing keep-away
Recall training, in other words - the come command (with and without distractions)
Separation Anxiety (some separation issues need a longer program)
Crate Nonsense (barking, whining, etc.)
Heeling properly (walking beside the handler, not in front or behind) on leash and eliminating leash reactivity (some intense leash reactivity needs a longer program)
Building confidence with your dog through pack exposure and dog socialization so you get a better off well mannered dog.
Proper socialization with humans
How to wait for food
Calm on Command training – having your dog be calm in all situations, without him/her having to be worn out with hours of walking/play time
Leadership skills with your dog so your dog understands proper pack order with humans, eliminating a lot of pushy behavior dogs have. This is also great for nervous fearful dogs.
Work with your dog on the anxiety and fear that is driving most unwanted behaviors
All Board and Train programs include six hours of private one-on-one training. The six hours includes two, two-hour training sessions at the completion of the program. You also receive six one-hour follow-up sessions to be scheduled at the owner’s and trainer’s discretion.
