What’s your interior design process?
We believe strongly in a close and constructive working relationship with our clients, the total work of exceptional design and the role of the Architect-Designer in providing careful and coordinated oversight on various aspects of the project. It is important to us to provide a positive client experience - throughout the project and beyond!
1. To ensure a smooth process, we typically start with an introductory phone call to hear about the basic project outline and circumstances. We may also ask for documents, like site plans for new construction or floor plans for renovations and extensions of existing buildings.
2. We schedule a first in-person meeting to get to know the space and discuss the project in more details. We start refining the project goals and based on the documents we may have received prior, we might already be able to point out the key aspects and the potential we see to meet those goals.
3. Together, we establish a roadmap for the collaboration and start the actual planning process including design phases, reviews, workshops and presentations as appropriate for the project.
4. We communicate our Design through sketches, 2D and 3D drawings and 360 VR experience, as needed, so our clients can see and experience the spaces before construction begins.
5. We guide our clients through the decision making and bidding process.
6. During construction, we provide a strong site presence to ensure work goes smoothly according to the design.
7. We do not close the project before the last finishing touches are done.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
It really depends on the clients. We have designed projects with streamlined modern aesthetics and we have rehabilitated an old Victorian to its glory with contemporary touches. What we always do is to help the clients to discover what everyday elements make them comfortable within their own space and we start dreaming and exploring from there on.
What do you love most about your job?
It is really the opportunities to meet different people, listen to their stories and needs, work with them and come up with something unique for them to address their needs. That's really satisfying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
We started our design studio when Justin completed the Harvard Art Museums Rehabilitation and Renovation project as the project architect for Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and Kathrin moved from Germany to Boston shortly after to join. With our own design studio, we have been able to explore projects of different types and scales, from the design of a micro unit in Sao Paulo to K-12 school in Washington DC, sculptural porcelain facade design to upcycling shipping containers for flexible co-working spaces. It is the inspiration, flexibility and curiosity that got us started!

Yes! We can provide our design services remotely. With the design and communication tools we have, we can present our design online via images, videos and 360 VR experience.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Keeping everyone safe and healthy is our priority. We have switched to a remote/online design operations since the beginning of the pandemics and our team follows the CDC guidelines. We ensure no one has any symptom before attending any site visit, and we observe social distancing and wear face coverings at all time. We are grateful that we have been able to keep the team healthy all these times.
Architectural design for residence
We are licensed architectural studio providing home owners customized full design services to meet their needs. Our projects include design for home interior renovation (part of whole), addition and new construction.
