When we decided to add a guest bedroom to our house, because of previous projects with other architects, our criteria for hiring an architect were a) proper licensing & insurance, b) knowledge & experience with city ordinances & staff, and c) having a CAD program. Lampert Dias Architects was the only company that met that criteria.

We ran into many road blocks with city zoning codes and appeals because our house was built in the early 60s. Christine attended many meetings with city representatives on our behalf. To meet requirements, over 700 SF had to be added and a multi level roof configured. They exceeded expectations on the challenge. With Lampert Dias, you get a real creative advantage. Between Christine and Carolyn, they went the extra mile to capture our vision. Working with them was a pleasure.

The reason our rating is a four rather than five is that there were times when attentions got diverted over many months of getting project approval. Our final result is a five star + and rates WOWs from our family, friends and neighbors. After purchasing a small historic “Ole Hanson” home in San Clemente, my husband and I decided to expand it to allow more versatility in its use. We contacted a local real estate agent who specializes in historic homes, and she recommended Lampert Dias Architects. We were very pleased with their service as they were receptive to our general ideas and helped us flesh them out for the detailed drawings on our 980 square foot addition. Since we do not live in San Clemente, we relied on Christine and Carolyn to perform a lot of the leg work for us by meeting with city planners and our contractor. They met deadlines, worked well with the city in responding to the city’s stringent requirements for historic homes, and advocated successfully on our behalf for a design element that was extremely important to us but initially opposed by the city (a roof deck). Once the project was complete, the city highlighted our house in a public service video on the San Clemente cable channel as the “right way” to remodel a historic “Ole Hanson” home. Although the project is now complete, we remain friends with both Christine and Carolyn, and always look forward to getting together with them when we travel to San Clemente. More...

Before meeting Christine about remodeling our home we met with several other architects who all said versions of the same thing - "You don't want/can't do that. " We had ideas, but it seemed that no one wanted to help us build on them. And then came Christine - what a breath of fresh air she was! Her positive attitude was infectious and inspiring.

Thanks to her, we now live in a home that is better than we could have imagined. It's like living in a five star luxury hotel - it's where friends and relatives come from far and wide to seek respite from their hectic lives. We enjoy our time at home every day because of her and her ability to hear what we said, to understand what we wanted, and her knowledge to actually create it. It is a beautiful and tranquil place.

More recently we have been working with Carolyn. The storefront of our local business needs help, and her insightful work has raised our expectations of what can be done once again. I have previously worked with Carolyn on the Manor House on the campus of CSUPomona. This home was built in 1926 so Carolyn was very aware of the historical value we needed to heed. I have found them to be very professional from the bid process all the way through final inspection. They make themselves available for any questions or changes that arise during construction. I have found their plans to be very complete which gives the client an accurate bid during that process.
