What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Building a great rapport with your client so you get great natural photographs. Making sure that the lighting compliments your subject, and as an artist creating a composition that enhances the subject.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What type of photography are you looking for? What are your likes & hobbies? What is your budget? It is important to know your client, establish a good relationship with them so you can ascertain what their expectations are & always exceed those expectations!
What do you love most about your job?
Every single job is different. I started my studio up in 1985. I could write a book about the amazing people I meet & some of the interesting things that have happened. My job is tell their story & capture a moment in time of them, that they will be proud of & remember for the rest of their lives. That to me is exciting.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have always enjoyed photography. As a child I taped the window in my moms sewing room with black garbage bags & after taking portraits, developed the film & contact printed them. From their my love for the art grew. To put myself through college I delivered & sold photo supplies to photographers & drug stores. I finally went to school & got a degree in photography & tutored under the wings of a professional photographer. In 1985 I opened my studio.
