One of my favorite childhood friendships is with Carolyn Esky. We were in able to get together every December and summer when our parents traded cold for warmth and vice verse to be with their parents, our grandparents. Carolyn and I were like part-time sisters. Recently she lost her younger brother, I too lost mine but it was years earlier. It still hurts. We both lost our Daddy; her loss was far earlier even though hers lived nearly as long as mine. I first tuned in on Thanksgiving to the Arlo Guthrie concert replay (listened twice! ) and tonight the old country and bluegrass I grew up hearing - just fantastic.
