What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Understanding what makes this subject, person, or event important to the customer. If you hire a photographer for a shoot there's something special there that you see that you hope that we can see and the only way to do that is to try and stand in your shoes and feel the way you do. That and lighting - haha
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I would ask context questions. Questions that help me know who you are and part of what makes you tick. This way I can capture what you love about the subject, person, or the spirit of the event.
What do you love most about your job?
People seeing themselves in a different light. This is why I love candid shots the best because you never see yourself in your natural element. I also love the smile when people see the photos and say, "yes that's [family member's name] exactly! That's just what s/he looks like when..."
What inspired you to start your own business?
It was a hobby that turned into a profession. I had to find a way to justify all the time and effort to my parents. They're great people but I was doing everything for free and spending every spare moment doing it. They felt if I was this committed and I had enough clients why didn't I just pursue this. They're a great support!
Why should our clients choose you?
Choose me because I'm an empath, which means that the way you feel about things is crucial to the photos I take. While I might take a lot of jobs, you may not hire a photographer again for a couple years, so this has to be as important to me as it is to you.
