I have 2 dogs and the older one just had surgery and is confined for a few months. I wondered what I would do. Reach out to these folks, received a very positive and quick response. Had a meet and great where my younger dog gave Kim kisses. He's excited every time I get him ready for his walk. He's a beagle and barks like crazy when she shows up. Wonderful first experience with Kim and her team! Her staff was very sweet with sending great updates and pictures of my cat while I was away. I started using Kim’s Urban Hounds a few months ago after transferring from another dog walking service I was not entirely happy with. It’s always nerve wracking finding a team you can trust to care for your fur babies, and after my prior experience I was very skeptical going in to meet the team. However, since day one with Kim’s Urban Hounds, I have felt valued and listened to as a client of theirs. The initial meeting was with the owner who came out and listened to all my concerns and questions. My dogs are rescues and they come with their own obstacles. I wanted to be sure there was someone who could work with them and give them the attention and care they require, not just “walk” them. We were assigned a walker based on our individual needs and they did not disappoint. Our walker knows how to approach and cater to our dogs and I feel completely comfortable leaving my dogs in our walkers hands. We get a report with updates of our dogs activities of the day through a user friendly app where everything is centrally located (scheduling, payments, messaging). Our walker also seems to actually enjoy our dogs- playing with them and giving them some love which is great to know as a dog owner. The team at Kim’s Urban Hounds is transparent and respectful and I am so happy to have found them and to know my pups are in the best hands in the DMV. My wife & I have a beautiful Standard Poodle who is just a year & 1/2. I recently purchased in home camera primarily for security reasons because we live in an apartment. Well! What I did not know was our Poodle was insecure & had major anxiety, crying & whining for hours. We use Kim's Dog Walking Service Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays which the walker is so friendly & we get Report Card after every walk. This was not enough to help with our Poodles anxiety so we adopted an 8 month mixed hound. Wow! Guess what, it worked & Kim's dog walking service would not charge us for the additional new dog we had. Our Poodle had so much fun with our new puppy until our newly adopted dog was struck with a unique pneumonia after having her for just 3 weeks. Our little hound was hospitalized for 4 days with oxygen & was released to us in such poor condition. I could not feed her, she would not open her mouth for me & at the same time my wife was out of town for 4 days. My wife called Kim from Charlotte for consultation & within an hour, Kim is at our apartment taking care of newly adopted puppy. She brought with her food, syringes to help feed & water the dog. I was at work & when I came home my wife told me Kim was going swing by that evening & give me instruction on how to care for my puppy. Guess what! Kim was there & the next morning & evening for 3 straight days providing such loving care. After 3 days on a Sunday morning & my wife still out of town, Kim & I decided we could not save her. Of course it was my decision & Kim even cried helping me carry my newly adopted dog to the car. I have never met such courageous, loving women like Kim besides my wife. Her dog walking service is AMAZING! Her staff does not just walk our dogs but talks with our dog(s) & engages. The report cards are the best. We've been with Kim for years and she continually demonstrates how she cares for my dog Ranger, my family, and those who work for her. Kim personally came by to meet Ranger when we first came on board and has made efforts to put him with walkers whose personality and energy match his. Kim works closely with her walkers to ensure they are trained professionals equippped to respond to care for your animals and respond to any situation that could arise. Kim's walkers are loving and affectionate with Ranger who practically barrels into the door when his "best friends" visit. They send pictures and a map of their walk with every visit, letting us know everything exciting that's happened. Once we had to take Ranger to the vet late Friday night after he had eaten something toxic. We texted Kim's service to see if they had noticed anything unusual in his behavior, and Kim personally reached out that night and throughout the weekend to see how he was doing. AVOID this shady place because the owner takes NO care about your household security. I'm contacting my legal service for further action on this dishonest business practice. How would you feel if your home key was missing? The owner didn't return our key for half a year, and then after I called, she said she found it and mailed it to me. However, she didn't! I would like to give this small business a good review, especially during these times, but I cannot. From the get go, I found them to be very unprofessional and irresponsible. My rating is based on the fact that a) I had to practically beg them to have a meet and greet before an upcoming trip so they could meet my pet, get my key and receive instructions, to b) forgetting to feed my pet one day and giving her necessary medications for her separation anxiety (seeing my pet at 10 pm on my home cameras pace and look distraught that she was not fed was heart breaking, to c) leaving the lock box on my door indefinitely despite repeated communication to remove it. It was so stressful and upsetting that we almost cut out trip short because of this neglect. Their lack of communication is very poor. For example, the owner was sick which was the reason my pet was not fed one day and the communication with her fill in fell through the cracks. I also find it very unprofessional that I nicely asked them on three separate occasions over the course of a month to take the lock box off my door and was ignored. I was lucky that I had a cutting tool to break it off or I would have been out another $60. I am sure that at one point before COVID maybe this business had more enthusiasm but I wanted to be sure that others know that there is a risk involved in using this business and that you may be better off going with a business that is more attentive and professional. This crew is THE BEST. Our pup is a 2 year old rescue who is very wary of strangers. We had one walker quit because he was herding her (nipping at her ankles). Kim's team came in and got to know our dog first, and took their time introducing new walkers into the schedule. They were patient, understanding and are extremely reliable. A great place to board your small dog for a few days! Kim has six dogs herself and two cats, plus one or two borders at any time, and she lavishes love on them all. Love love love my experience with them so far! I was super nervous at first because I just moved to the area and it is my first time moving along with my dog so my dog was having a hard time adjusting so I was worried how’d she would do with them when I wasn’t there. But the first day when they came I got a great report my Laila was just a little nervous because of the new face without her mama there but each walk she got more and more adjusted to her walker. I’m a nursing student so on Monday's I’m gone basically all day and Wednesdays I’m gone half the day. Sophie walks my dog for 2x on Monday for 15 minutes and one time on Wednesday and always sends me a short little message with how the walk went along with pictures of my dog during the walk. I love this because I know that she is being walked and I know she is okay so it gives me piece of mind while I’m gone. I also can see though the app where exactly they walk around my apartment complex. And it’s great because when I come home my dog is always in good spirits. We left our deaf, shy 14 year old Havanese home while we vacationed. She had not been alone for any significant time since 3/2019, and we knew this would be hard on her. Amanda came to visit before our trip and Zoe kept her distance. Nevertheless, Amanda said they would be fine and off we went. Well....Zoe kept her distance for the whole time Amanda was there. BUT Amanda did not give up on her. When Zoe would not go upstairs to sleep at night, Amanda slept on the couch downstairs so Zoe would not be alone! Amanda sent us pictures and messages to let us know how things were going. While Amanda might NOT want to come back and stay with Zoe, we would LOVE for Amanda to do so next time we go out of town! I have been using Kim’s Urban Hounds dog walking service for some time now and can honestly say that the service is fantastic. Kim and her team are very professional and good with dogs, specially with my senior dog. He was in multiple foster homes and has abandonment issues. With that being said, he has terrible anxiety and will lash out during his walks. The staff has a lot of experience and they know exactly what to do when walking my pup. Also, they provide a summary of the walks and will accommodate your request to ensure that your dog is comfortable before, during, and after the walks. I started using this company in March, it was my first time using dog walking company. At first Kim gave me advice on my pup, greatful. But one thing I noticed was the constant changing of staff coming to my house, I thought it was because of college kids, so I didn't say anything, but I really needed the consistency of staffs. Then I noticed my rate went up without telling me I was very upset. Then my charges was never the same even though the day are the same. So I called and asked, she told me she will get back to me, never heard from her. Then in July, I called to canceled the service, she said she's sad to loose me as a customer, so I said I might use her again later. Just as I told her I canceled my service, there was a charge for $340. I called, she said it was a mistake and will refund it to me. I waited and waited and called, she told me she had mail the check, NOTHING. This is a lying and pathetic business owner. If she needs money then just say it, and I will donate it to her. But ripping me off on my hard earn money is sad. Karma will hit her. If anyone using her service please make sure you pay attention to your changes. More...
