We hired Katrina for our wedding on 7/17/21. It was nothing short of magical, and the live music provided by Katrina and 2 of her associates was a big part of that. She worked with me before the event to craft a play list and get a sense of the atmosphere we were trying to create. While we did miss much of their performance as it was for guest arrival and cocktail hour, she did also provide our ceremony and dinner music. It was all fantastic. The sound quality of their instruments was wonderful, and their technical skill is unquestionable. Katrina helped make our wedding everything we hoped it would be, and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who will listen. More...

First of all, I would give Katrina 10 stars if I could! Not only are her and her musicians amazingly talented, she is accommodating and kind and she just CARES! In the wedding vendor industry, that's unusual. To find someone who honestly cares and wants to make your event the most special day ever. Let me give you some background. About a month and a half before my wedding, I was convinced by a friend that I needed to do a quartet for my ceremony. In case you're unaware, that's a bit last minute. So I went to my trusty Yelp, looked up quartets in Sonoma area, and proceeded to contact all of them that were listed to see who had availability. Four of them got back to me with availability for my date. Of those four, one was unable to accommodate custom song requests. Down to three. While I cared about cost (wedding ain't cheap, y'all!), I was also very passionate about making sure that the songs I wanted could be added to the play list. This is difficult because it means that the musicians need to learn the song and the sheet music has to be made to translate to the instruments. All 3 quartets could do custom songs (for a price), but only Katrina was willing to do as many as I wanted and work with me to make my vision happen. And let me tell you, I was not easy to deal with. I had about a million things going on, I couldn't commit to a quartet because I was going back and forth with the 2 for awhile, and I wanted 5 different songs for the ceremony (which is too many transitions)! Katrina responded promptly to each of my emails with a positive can-do attitude, even if I hadn't gotten back to her quickly and asked for complicated things. I absolutely wanted my dog to have her own song for walking up the aisle. Katrina made it work. She never told me "no, that's too much" or criticized my plan. She just made it happen. Day of, the quartet was so amazing! I had a number of guests tell me how much they loved the quartet for the ceremony and cocktail hour. They played every song beautifully, and, most importantly, they made my day more special than I ever could have imagined! If you are on the fence about getting a quartet (or trio or duo), definitely do it - and use Katrina! She and her musicians will take your event to the next level without breaking the bank. Thank you, Katrina, for being such a superstar - I can't wait until the next time I get to work with you! More...

Katrina Wreede and Dave Moitke provided beautiful music for our marriage reception at Scott's Seafood Garden, Walnut Creek,  in May of 2016. We had many compliments on their music and how it provided just the perfect ambiance. In fact, the reception ran a little longer than planned, so we asked Katrina and Dave to play a little longer to which they kindly obliged. We cannot thank Katrina and Dave enough for their professionalism, wonderful musicianship and lastly for just being a pleasure to work with. Thank you Katrina and Dave! More...

Katie's (aka Katrina's) trio played for our older daughter's wedding in 2011. They did such a first-rate job, there was no question whom to ask to play for our younger daughter's wedding last week.  The ceremony was at San Francisco City Hall, where only two acoustical instruments were allowed, so Katie and a partner played violin and viola. As before, Katie and her partner were on time, thoroughly professional, sensitive to the pace of the ceremony so had perfect timing, and played beautifully for two hours.  Before the wedding, Katie patiently worked with our daughter and her fiancé to choose the music.  I recommend Katrina Wreede Musical Groups highly. From start to finish, Katie was incredible. First and foremost, of course, she and Leo played beautifully for my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour--a great mix of classics and fun adaptations of pop numbers, which the crowd absolutely loved. She even specially arranged our song for the processional. Second, Katie was a breeze to work with! She was communicative, prompt, personable, and always professional. Finally, Katie made the process easy as pie:  she immediately sent over an incredible set list, reminded me when I hadn't sent our selections, and confirmed times and setup well in advance. 10/10, will hire Katie again. Having live musician was a requirement for me when I planned my wedding.  I hired Katrina to play the violin after I heard her samples on the website and looked at some of her set list.  She was always responsive during the planning process through emails and even made suggestions for my procession order.  My wedding was in Half Moon Bay Golf Links in October.  She played beautifully.  Although I didn't get to hear most of the music (I was the bride), most of my guests had nothing but compliments on the music.  As I was getting ready to do my bridal entrance, I could hear her perform from where I was entering.  It really helped my mind ease as I was about to walk out in front of everyone!  I can't wait to get my video back so I can listen to the songs again.Katrina's set list has a variety (more than others).  I was very pleased and will recommend her again for events or weddings.  My only regret is not asking for a duo! We just had a string duo (violin and cello) perform at our wedding ceremony and they were awesome. Katrina helped us a ton during our music selection process, providing lots of suggestions and answering multiple questions. They arrived on time and played exactly what we had asked for. Although we didn't meet with them beforehand, they did send us a demo CD and we were more than pleased with their performances. The strings added an elegant touch to our ceremony and they were very reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend them for your event! More...

Katrina played the music at our wedding. She made some great suggestions, then played the songs we asked for. The addition of Katrina and her violin gave our simple wedding ceremony an air of sophistication. The Second Wedding in Two Years!!  This group is excellent.  There are times before the ceremony starts when 'mood' music, which can be selected by the bride and groom (or relatives should a funeral service require) which will fill in the voids where guests are arriving, and getting seated, and need to be quiet and respectful.  Here Katrina and her 'trio' can, and do, provide the 'appropriate' atmosphere for the occasion. Well attired, and with no requirments except for three chairs, they play and then 'vanish' when it is over.  The day was wonderful, and the missus said "It was great' as I write this. Short notice changes seem OK More...

Katrina has been providing great musical entertainment for my parent's wedding anniversary parties for about 5 years. She plays the viola while strolling through the dining room at their retirement community.  After dinner their is a steady stream of folks stopping by our table to wish Mom and Dad a Happy Anniversary and to thank them for providing the fabulous entertainment.  One year we were late in asking and Katie was already booked so we hired someone else who came very highly recommended but was a big disappointment compared to Katie. Q&As

I get to experience the sound of live music every day.

Many people don't realize how very special it is to hear live music instead of recorded music. It's not just that live musicians are better able to respond and choreograph the music to fit exactly what's happening. It's the difference between smelling real flowers versus looking at photos of flowers.

I love meeting new people and helping them realize their dreams with music. It just makes sense to do it as a business. I also teach, compose and perform in concert, but providing the soundtrack for one of the most important days of someone's life is a big responsibility that I take very seriously and enjoy very much.

Clients should choose the music that best fits their tastes and budget. I offer a wide range of styles and instrument combinations that has many different options. If I can't provide exactly what someone needs, I'm happy to refer them to a trusted colleague.

Yes, I can teach online and I've also performed for virtual events, including weddings.

If I am performing in person during Covid, I ask that I am separated from the guests and other vendors by the largest distance possible and that I perform outside if at all reasonable. My other musicians and I wear masks at all times and do not interact with guests. Cancellations due to Covid can be rescheduled to a later date without waiving the deposit unless we are already booked for the new time. If that happens, I can also provide a substitute. All music lessons are online until further notice.
