So this is about my fifth time visiting this establishment and I have increased to a five star review. Many factors included. Pros. Every meal was overall great with only 2 or less gripes Service has always been pleasant. My spouse picked meal up 30 mins later than online projection. Why? Because I asked for my catfish to be fried hard on a busy sat afternoon. I did forget to inform him of this but the staff was pleasant to my family and the fish was cooked beautifully Yams and Mac delicious Now the straw parfait wow so worth the 10 dollars Lastly the owner thanked me for my previous review Cons a bit pricey for portion of fish, I wish I lived the potato salad tastes like Safeways to me and I wish they sent homemade tartar or remoulade. Originally, one of my favorite new places in the area. The food and service were amazing. Now, the food is still very good. .however the service is iffy. Me and my husband had different schedules and decided to order online to go, when we got to the restaurant we decided to just pause our day and eat in for a moment together. The restaurant was completely empty, not a single person, so we decided to sit and eat our food while it was hot. We had no utensils, or condiments. I went to the counter to ask for hot sauce and buy two drinks. I was told, in the future the tables are reserved for customers who order in store, not "to-go" online...............what difference does it make if it's 1:45pm on a Tuesday and the establishment is completely empty. As I'm having this conversation, my husband sees the cashier roll her eyes as if there is an issue. Very strange energy, we didn't feel welcomed, so we decided to pack up our half eaten food and eat in the car instead. Just a quick word of advice, from a couple who owns nineteen restaurants in Dc, Maryland and Virginia...customer service is everything. This was my first time trying this restaurant. I ordered a to go meal of jerk ribs, mac & cheese, and cabbage. Everything was was really good. Although, I prefer more seasoning on the jerk ribs. In my 50 plus years of life, I have never threw a plate of ox tails in the trash. Today was the day. Maybe they specialize in too many foods bbq, soul food and Caribbean. I ordered the ox tails and my god today that was the saltiest piece of meat I have ever tasted. I can't even identify the flavors and I been West Indian all my life. How do you mess up rice. Hello, I visited after hearing good things, even though the reviews were mixed. I ordered the jerk ribs with Mac& cheese, yams and a order of seafood egg rolls. The portion size was good, the Mac was kind of dry but the yams were good. The egg rolls were soggy in the middle with some kind of cream sauce and it was dripping all over the place. Visited for takeout food and although it is a local small business I really wanted to support. However, the food was not good. I ordered the pasta and crab egg rolls and it was just basic. The crab egg rolls were extremely greasy and the pasta which had salmon was clearly frozen not fresh and their was a small amount of penne pasta. First time stopping in this place and they can cook. The menu is kind of a soul food Caribbean sort of morph.I had a fried pork chop sandwich which was nicely seasoned but there was no mayo or nothing on the bread it was just dry white bread. I took that home so I can fix it up to my liking. Jerk wings are really good, whole wings. They clearly use HOT jerk seasoning rather than mild - which can become kind of overbearing unless you like your food bitterly hot. I don't. My business partner had some whiting, greens, and yams. The whiting was excellent - very nicely seasoned and moist. The greens were good too. I'd give them a a solid 8 and 1/2 for 9 out of 10. We both agreed the "Henny" yams are like baby food. Overly sweet baby food pie filling mush. The cornbread muffin, on the other hand, was excellent. They say it's regular cornbread but I swear it's moist, sweet and delicious like cake. Like a sweet potato cake muffn.The drinks are fountain and the lemonade one didn't have anything, but water in it. They must have ran out of lemonade. You order at the counter and the cashier brings you to your food. There's a bar with beer and wine too, which is a nice touch. I saw three mixing machines with different daiquiris in them as well. Make sure you are here at least 30 mins early bc they dont adhere to the hours posted. I came in to get takeout about 710 and they had a closed sign on the door but they supposedly dont close till 730 on Saturday! Response to the owner: my apologies but who are you to tell me what warrants a bad review? Your hours on the internet need to be changed if its not true. Thats why ppl dont support black business. I got the Oxtail Rasta Pasta and mac n' cheese, after hearing for years about how amazing oxtail is from some of my friends. Charged a 4% card service fee, 10% service fee, on top of the 15% tip I left them in good faith before my order. Waited 35 minutes; almost thought they forgot about me. Didn't bother bringing me the mac ahead of time as I chose to eat-in. I'm okay to wait if what I eat is good, but it was not. By the time I sunk my teeth in, food was cold. All of it. I can't say enough about this place. The food is absolutely amazing. The cornbread is slightly sweet and perfect. The Egg rolls were outstanding and the crab cake and shrimp Mac and cheese will make you want to slap your momma for not cooking like this when you were younger. The collard greens were so good, I got an order to go. It was more of a soul food than Caribbean feel but I didn't order the jerk chicken so there is that. I'm excited we have another place serving Caribbean style food in the area. When you walk in, you have to approach the counter to order and give them a name for your order. Alternatively, you could sit and order at the bar. The woman at the register was extremely friendly. It took about 15-20 minutes for our food to arrive but it was clear they were busy with to go orders and folks dining in. There was plenty of seating and I really enjoyed the music selection playing. My husband had the jerk chicken and ribs combo with rice and peas and fried plantains. He ate every bit of it. I ordered the shrimp and salmon combo with rice and peas and cabbage. Both combos came with corn bread. Both my husband and I both loved the cornbread. It was one of the best we've ever had. I did request extra jerk sauce after my meal arrived because I personally felt it could use a bit more. I took one star off because my meal came with two pieces of salmon and one tasted slightly fishy. I'm a pescatarian so I eat a lot of seafood. Salmon isn't the mildest fish but the one filet didn't taste quite as fresh as the other. However, there was so much food I couldn't even eat both pieces anyway, just something the restaurant might want to be aware of. The cabbage and rice and peas were excellent. The food was great ! We got oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage and jerk ribs. Sadly they were out of jerky Turkey wings but due to their large menu it wasn't too much of an issue. Oxtail ??? Yeah baby there was meat on those bones which is very rare from Caribbean spots. There was so much meat it was so tender and flavorful. The cabbage was beyond amazing I loved it so much and I thought I wouldn't. Now the rice and peas weren't really rice and peas it was dry, hard and didn't seem to be cooked the right way maybe it wasn't made with coconut milk not sure but not a fan at all.
