Julie is absolutely amazing! She took the time to get to know my husband and I before our event and she asked great questions to get an understanding of how we wanted to capture our wedding vow renewal ceremony. She showed up early with her assistant and they caught so many precious moments that I would have never been able to capture on my own. I would definitely recommend Julie time and time again. I recently relocated my Internet marketing business and wanted to reinvent my look for the new location. Since I was in a place where business casual was the norm I needed pictures that looked professional but we're still casual. I was not sure how this could be pulled off but I trusted Julie as a person so I out myself in her capable hands. I wanted to give a testimonial to Julie Cheshire. My family had a photo session with her and we recently viewed the outcome. Working with her on the shoot was so much fun an she is a no nonsense, fun person who gets everyone to cooperate and focus while laughing and enjoying the time. My only complaint about my head shot is that I look so dang good, when people meet me in person, they do a double take!  Pretty good problem to have, right?  Julie is a master artist behind the lens.  I admit I was self conscious and nervous to take professional head shots because I am not a vain person by any means.  She assessed my personality, picked the location, and pulled out the best parts of my personality for a picture that speaks a thousand words.  The session was so easy and seamless.  I was expecting a stiff studio set and a bunch of faked smiles.  Julie picked a perfect location that put me at ease and created a safe space to be myself and that's what she caught on camera.  Amazing!  And that's just the beginning.  She goes in with editing and makes every fly-away hair and coffee stained teeth imperfection disappear.  I have put these head shots on all of my print marketing and social media platforms with pride and have had the best response in the last 10 years from my last head shot.  This is a no brainer! What a great find Julie is! I did a search in the local area and was very impressed with her work's natural setting, the lighting and composition. Then, when I saw she lived just a mile away on the Clayton border, that cinched the deal.We had such fun findings spots around downtown Clayton, which we both love. I felt as if I were with an old friend and the pictures reflect that happiness and ease. My husband, who was skeptical at first, was blown away by the results. I am a camera-shy girl. Julie not only put me at ease, she had me laughing and having a good time. Julie photographed our wedding and I cannot express how much we loved working with her. We met Julie at the Brazilian Room wedding fair and I absolutely loved her personality and style. Julie is absolutely amazing!Originally I did a bridal session and she shot our wedding back in 2008.  Since then she's also done some professional headshots and family portraits for us.  Shots from all 4 sessions were just stunning.She's incredibly flexible.  For instance, the wedding shots were taken in a Russian Orthodox church and she knew just how to position herself so she wasn't intruding or interfering with the ceremony but captured all the different elements beautifully.   While on the other side of the spectrum we did a session in the Piedmont cemetery (my choice) and she knew just how to capture the natural beauty of the place.   From wrangling tricky lighting to small children she's able to capture truly fantastic photographs.  Plus, she's a joy to work with.    I'd give her 10 stars if I could. I planned my wedding in less than a month and a half. Needless to say, it was stressful. Julie was recommended by my venue and once I looked at her website I decided to contact her to see if she was available on such short notice. She responded to me right away and indicated she was available. We met half-way, in Hayward because she didn't want me to have to drive all the way to Walnut Creek from my house in Saratoga. Once I met her and looked through the books she brought, I knew she was the one!Julie bent over backwards to make sure my husband and I got exactly what we were looking for. When I began my search for a wedding photographer, I was almost immediately halted because of the astronomical Bay Area prices. I mean, I understand that people have to make a living... but come on!!! Julie was a referral, and I was drawn in immediately by her website. The site was easy to navigate, and I found several positive reviews. I figured I had nothing to lose... so imagine my excitement when I also found out she offered reasonable prices!The quality of her work is unparalleled. Her journalistic style is artistic and personable. She is extremely professional, and her willingness to work around my busy schedule was very helpful. I met Julie through a colleague of mine almost a year ago. When I got engaged about 6 months ago, one of the first calls/emails I sent out for vendors was to Julie as I could not get her wonderful work out of my head.  We worked with Julie at our engagement session at the UC Davis campus and I was most worried about my fiance and the way they would work together. I don't know why I even worried about it.. Julie is so professional and calming that it was simple for him to work comfortably with her. In addition, though he felt awkward posing for professional photos, her finished work was truly amazing and beautiful.. Julie photographed our wedding at San Francisco City Hall last June. After the ceremony we headed to Baker Beach (her recommendation) and took some more photos. When we returned from our Honeymoon, all of the proofs were up for us to view on her website. All I could think about on our honeymoon was "how did our photos look?" I was amazed at the shots she got! She used all of the architecture and lighting from city hall in ways that made our pics look just amazing. She captured every little detail, like signing of marriage certificates and our guests faces and reactions. And the photos at the beach were really fun. Beautiful views of the Golden Gate bridge in the background were just what we wanted! All in all, Julie made the whole experience comfortable and fun! I would absolutely refer her to my family and friends, and to anyone who wants a  quality photographer! Julie is absolutely fantastic!   She is extremely knowledgeable, and very easy to work with.  From my first meeting with her I knew I was dealing with a real professional.   Her in-depth questions during our initial interview wowed me with her knowledge and thinking.   And her easy-going nature made me comfortable right off the bat. Both my Fiancée (now husband!) were a little nervous about the Engagement Session.   We both tend to be very shy in front of the camera.  But Julie was awesome.  Her light-hearted manner put us both at ease almost immediately.   And her artistic eye found many wonderful, colorful places for pictures (spots we would have no doubt missed without her).   The pictures surpassed all of my expectations, and I ended up buying an album just so I could keep a large collection of them on hand.   On the day of our wedding, Julie was right on time with her team.  Both her and crew looked and acted professionally, and were extremely understanding and helpful.   Julie anticipated where I would arrive, and started snapping pictures from the minute I arrived at the church.   She was with me every step of the day, advising me when I had questions or needed input on a decision.  She even talked me into doing my first dance when I started to chicken out.  In two days I pick up my wedding album, and I am so excited to see the final product.  I have, of course, already poured over all of my pictures a million times.  My mom and I cried when looking through the pictures, they were so beautiful.   Julie is very, very talented.  Her pictures capture not only the little details I had so carefully planned, but also the moments with my loved ones.     She was the BEST decision I made when planning the wedding.   I highly recommend Julie Cheshire.   I know she will be in our lives to capture even more memories in the future!! Picking Julie to photograph our wedding was the easiest and best decision I made in planning my wedding.Both my husband and I are not naturally photogenic (think Chandler in Friends). But having Julie take our pictures was so relaxing the that pictures came out natural and stunning. She has an amazing eye for pictures that maintain the simple classic elegance without looking staged or bland and mixing in a kick of contemporary style. Every time I look back at the pictures I am immediately taken back to our wedding day and overwhelmed with how she captured the emotions of the day so well. I must admit, I still tear up when I look at them.But beyond just having an amazing product she is so easy and fun to work with. Her easygoing attitude made my wedding day seem significantly less stressful. I cannot express how highly I recommend Julie. I met her at a wedding fair, and from the moment I saw her pictures I was intrigued, and talking with her for just a few moments had me hooked. She is charming, professional, and knowledge. She shot my engagement pictures and my wedding. Throughout our experience with her, she made my very shy husband and me feel totally at ease. There are some businesses that get 5 stars simply because they are better than most places you've been to and there are some places that really do earn that 5 Star Rating and Julie Cheshire Photography is one of those business that truly earned a 5 Star Rating. I'm pretty picky when I hand out my 5 Star reviews and recently I've been a bit generous mostly due to the exceptional services I have received with all the vendors I worked with for my wedding, but if I had to pick one vendor that stood above and beyond the rest, it's definitely Julie.  I think I'm at review number 406 and this will be only my 16th 5 Star Rating, so I'm pretty picky about whom I give a 5 Star rating to (about less than 5% of my reviews).It all started when my wife met Julie at a bridal fair and she felt an instant connection with Jule.  Julie has a very positive and friendly personality that instantly puts you at ease.  She also asked my wife probably a dozen times if there was anything she could do to help us which just showed the kind of personality that Julie has. We saw several other photographers too, but felt that Julie's style and personality matched what we were looking for in a wedding photographer.  Not only did she have a great photogentic eye, she also did it at price much more affordable than the other photographers we interviewed.Julie has many different packages you can choose from and one of the most important items, is that not only in most of her package deals does she give a photography credit for pictures that you want, she also gives you a CD with all the pictures for you to keep for yourself. Most of the people we saw charged extra for this, Julie included it in her package.  Also included in the package was a wedding album too.We decided to pay an extra $250 for an engagement session to test things out with Julie and so she can feel us out too.  The day of the engagement session came and just as our previous meetings, it was very easy and fun to work with Julie. Her assistant Lindsay Docherty was there too shooting away too and also made it fun and easy. In my line of business I do have to work with photographers to shoot events and I can tell Julie definitely has a good eye.We decided to turn our pictures from the engagement session into a Guest Book for our wedding and asked Julie to do it for us. She said she could and charged about $125. When we got the final product of both the Guest Book and the Engagement Photos, they were absolutely gorgeous and knew we had selected the right photographer for our wedding. My wife was so impressed with the Guest Book she handled it extra carefully even when showing other people it. Come the day of the wedding, Julie and Lindsay was there snapping away photos. We provided them a list of photos we wanted and they went down the check list and got every one. Again just like the engagement session, Julie and Lindsay were easy and great to work with. Definitely no stress from the photographers that day.  We went around the winery took us to different places and just snapped away.  Once it came time for the reception, first dance, cake cutting, etc, Julie was there but not in the oboxnious photographer way.  She and Lindsay were almost like ghosts in the background, sometimes taking staged photos, but mostly taking photo journalist style pictures.It took about a two months before we got the pictures in via her website, but when they came in, both my wife and I thought they were gorgeous. Julie and Lindsay did a phenomenal job. We has a good mix of staged pictures and in the moment pictures and a good blend between color and black and white.  Just an excellent job.We ordered our prints and we got a pretty good amount of prints. More than enough to give prints (including several large 8 x 10 size prints) to both sides of our families without ordering more. They made great Christmas presents and many said they looked better "live" than on the computer screen. But it only got better from there. After we selected about 100 pictures of the 600+ photos to choose from for our wedding album, when we got the final Wedding Album in it definitely way exceeded both my wife and mine expectations. The album came in this briefcase to protect it and the layout of the book and the pictures inside were beautiful. This was definitely a showpiece quality job. When we showed it to my family, they were extremely impressed and a couple of the women there said how impressed they were with it. Overall, words can not truly express how happy my wife and I were with Julie. If I had to do it all over again, I would probably book her first and then work around the location based upon her schedule. I worked with some wonderful top notch vendors for my wedding, but Julie definitely was the best of the best. Well deserved 5 star rating for Julie Cheshire Photography! More...
