What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Emotion and seeing things that people thought someone else missed. Its that moment that scratched at you and you thought you saw that needs to be captured. Simple poses and lighting techniques can help a lot but if your able to feel whats happening on the day you are shooting, that feeling, that second you know why that scene is important, makes all the difference in the world.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Of course, we cover the shot list and the what the client expects but what I think I ask clients that separates me from others is I want to know all about there relationships with everyone who is going to be at the wedding. When I take a photo of the father with the bride it's nice to have a background on who these people are. Feeling flows through the lens and this love they share must be captured. I cant do that if I know nearly nothing about them as people.
What do you love most about your job?
There is no more amazing feeling for me as a photographer than when I preview the images to a couple, and I see that WOW look on there face and they are magically transported back to that special day.
What inspired you to start your own business?
When I have a camera in my hand and I'm moving about a wedding or watching a bride and groom, I am not even thinking that I'm working. I am loving life at that moment and why not make my fun and joy my life's work.
