Jamie did a Smash and Splash photo shoot for my son's first birthday. Her skills as a mom and a photographer combine perfectly for this work. She was a great combination of completely prepared before we got there and totally flexible once we were there. She worked with us and helped my son get over his apparent fear of cake! Her baby voice is just the cutest ever, and she got smiles and laughs out of him, and captured them purely in her pictures. She also has the three best mini photography assistance (her own kiddos) who danced around and made funny faces, held props, and even helped by holding my son while I ran to the car. She is a pleasure to work with, edited the photos wonderfully, and sent them faster than I expected. So what. We have some nice family photos. Why is that such a big deal? Everybody does that, right? I suppose mainly because in the 16 years of our family's existence, my partner and I have NEVER posed for a photographer. Part of the reason, I'm sure, is that I v̶e̶r̶y̶ ̶m̶u̶c̶h̶ ̶d̶i̶s̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ hate having my picture taken. But not so much when it's in a candid style. Point a camera at me while I ignore you doing it, and I'm fine. I can be myself. But if I have to *pose* for the camera, I feel completely fake and awkward, especially because I'm supposed to be smiling. But then came along Jamie Love Photography, and she assured us that we could *be ourselves* in front of the camera. We could dress how we wanted. We could be what we wanted. It didn't have to be fake or posed or plastic. We didn't have to pretend. And we all loved it. In fact, it was very relaxed and actually fun. And somehow through that truly candid and easygoing approach, Jamie managed to bring out each of our individual personalities, which I think really shows in the pictures. That, my friends, is talent.
