What makes a great website?
First, you need to make sure your content is good and correct. You can have the most beautiful website, but if the content isn't there or is wrong, then it doesn't really matter. This includes photos. Next, it needs to have a good, readable, clean design. It doesn't need to be super fancy with all these cool animations. In fact, when I go to a website with a lot of animations, I close out of it. It just becomes confusing and distracting for the reason I'm on the website. And finally, it needs to load fast. Your images need to be compressed so they don't hold up the webpage. Other things like CSS and JavaScript need to be minimized so they don't clog up the page loading. If it takes your website over five seconds to load, I'm out.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
- What is your business about?
- Where is your business right now? Are things going good? Are you just starting out? Are you struggling?
- Where do you want the business to be in a year or two? Five years? Ten years?
- What is the problem with your current website? Why do you need a new one?
- Do you want to sell items in an online store?
- Do you want to have a blog for content marketing
What do you love most about your job?
I really just love to help others see a website that they thought was more or less a dream become a reality. At Faith Growth, I also write case studies and I interview our contact at our client for their side of the story. So I get to hear the excitement in their voice about the new website and hear how much it has helped their church or organization. And just hearing that makes everything so worth it.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've always just loved helping other people build their websites. For the past four years or so I've been working primarily with churches as contractor for another web development business. And now I want to help small business owners create the right website to help their business. Nothing is as exciting as seeing that new website help a business or organization.

I've been working with WordPress and building websites for over six years now, so I know my stuff and how to get a website down quickly and correctly. I'm also a solo developer, meaning I don't have as much overhead as a typical web design or development agency. And I love connecting with people and helping their businesses grow.
