This review is for the FOOD TRUCK only. I have not been to their B&M location.Hungry Hawaiian offers what I would easily consider the best Hawaiian food in this state. I haven't been to a LOT of them and can only really compare with Mo bettahs and the like, but I'll be damned if Hungry Hawaiian isn't on a completely different level. The food didn't feel heavy or greasy. It tastes like high quality. It tastes fresh. That mac salad could wake the dead. Delicious.I ordered the teri chicken plate and could not have been happier. 10/10 would eat here again. More...

This is the hidden gem you've been looking for. That mom and pop restaurant with flavors and food like the ones you would get if you went to their house for a weekend BBQ. The owner said the recipes are the ones he grew up making with his dad. The decor is basic  but the food is the highlight of this establishment. Go for the food and leave happy. More...

This place is awesome  and has great service. The food is good and the prices are even better. The thing I was not to thrilled about was the quality of the Mac Salad- it had no flavor. Oh and they don't have restrooms ...  Other than that it's a great pit stop . More...

I don't think 5 stars is enough for these guys. The absolute best customer service I've had at any restaurant in Utah. The food was amazing, the musubi was legit, the malasadas were the best I've ever had on the mainland and overall an outstanding experience not to mention how affordable it was. if you're in the area, YOU NEED TO STOP HERE. Kenny will take care of you. Mahalo! More...

You can't go wrong with aloha spirit infused into the delectable dishes at Hungry Hawaiian. Keni's teriyaki sauce* is hands down the best I've had since moving to the mainland. It is the secret behind the best spam musubi in town not to mention he goes the extra mile by sprinkling furikake. The latest addition to the  menu, Loco Moco (fried egg on top of hamburger with brown gravy) is lip-smacking delicious. I hate to keep using superlatives, but Hungry Hawaiian is honestly the next best thing to being in Hawai'i.  Heck, Keni's macaroni salad is what my mom would call the "deluxe kine." You know, the kind you would make to impress your friends at a potluck. It is better than the famous plate lunch places I used to go in Honolulu.  I would recommend getting the three-meat plate to start with so you won't have to choose. The teriyaki beef is tender and sliced into easy to eat pieces, the kalua pua'a (pork) melts in your mouth, and the teriyaki chicken is flavorful. It doesn't matter what you choose, it is all so ono-licious. My kids and grandkids feel like we're back home whenever we eat at Hungry Hawaiian. The generous portions and affordable prices make it our family favorite. Don't forget to save room for Hungry Hawaiian's delightful guava chiffon cake! * You can buy his terrific teriyaki sauce now. They make great presents that people can really appreciate. More...

Was unexpectedly home from work during a weekday and decided to stop by for lunch so I could try this place that had been on my radar for a while. There were a few people ahead of me and when I ordered I was told that it might be a bit longer as what was ordered ahead of me takes a little extra time to prepare. I was not in a hurry so this was fine with me. Also, I really appreciate being given a heads up so I can set my expectations. The wait passed by quickly and also let me remember that I wanted to try the cake so I ordered a slice of that as well. My meal was the Teri Chicken Bow. Lots of rice, broccoli, carrots, and chicken. I poured some extra sauce on top because hey, I love sauce. The cake was a nice way to end my meal. I would definitely come back! More...

I'd give this place SIX stars if I could. What a fantastic place to grab some tasty, authentic Hawaiian food. Man, what a joy this was. My wife and I were in town scoping out the Salt Lake City area for a potential move. When I saw this restaurant on Yelp, I knew in my gut that I had to come by for lunch. I ordered the two-meat plate with Kalua Pua'a and Teriyaki Beef. My wife ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowl. Both were outstanding. They were a good value for the sheer amount of food you will receive. Don't forget to order the Spam Musubi, too! Best of all, Chef Keni and his wife sat with us and talked for half an hour! Damn fine people and a damn fine restaurant. Thanks for a wonderful experience! More...

Wish I could give 5 stars for food as Kenny and his auntie were super hospitable but can't say best Hawaiian I've ever had. That would be five stars. With that said, couple of things that this places did better, therefore that rounds it up to five. For one, I loved that teriyaki bowl contained veggies. Second, I loved his version of malasades better than Leonard's in Hawaii or Clark's here. I've been chasing down Clark's whenever I have cravings but I'll be here from now on. More...

They filled my order just as requested and included a full serving of Tofu just to let me know it was an option. Keni's the man. I once saw him at a cook off, cooking chili during a torrential downpour. I'm not kidding, the rain was coming in sideways.
The wind was howling. It was just ripping right through the tents that were supposed to be shielding the chefs. Keni was holding up a tent pole with one hand while cooking some mean chili with the other. I'll never forget Keni yelling, "It's just a small kine drizzle! It's just a small kine drizzle!" Over the thundering storm. Such is Keni's dedication to creating some ONO food for the rest of us to enjoy.
Real, authentic, home style, local Hawaiʻi, food is hard to come by, but that's what Keni delivers. Anybody can make basic ramen, but to take the time to craft your broth from scratch, simmering it for hours and hours while you make your own noodles, and cook up your own add ins, takes real love. It's no small task to source good ingredients and put them all together with a smile on your face.
Keni's one of my favorite local chefs and I would highly recommend heading over to the Hungry Hawaiian to grab some food.
