What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
As a photojournalist, I think truly great photographs are those that capture real moments and real emotions. Although for portraits I will help position you in a spot with great lighting and a nice backdrop, I'll have you interact with each in a natural way and capture the moments as they unfold. This is always how I get my best images. Throughout the day, just following along and staying alert to everything that's happening around us helps me catch those elusive candid moments that are so much more meaningful than posed and orchestrated photos when looking back at your wedding day many years from now.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What's your wedding date/venue/timeline/budget? Need to know the basics!
Who are the most important people in your life that will be with you on your wedding day? What are your relationships with them? What are some of their quirks and personalities? This helps me know who to pay special attention to during the day and prioritize photographing when a million things are happening at the same time, which is usually the case during a wedding day.
Do you have anything special planned throughout the day? This would be part of the timeline question, and helps me know what to look out for during the day to make sure anything you've put extra time and effort into planning get captured in the best way possible.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As I was going through college I joined the photography club in our student association and fell in love with it. After graduating from my masters in finance degree and working as a financial analyst for a few years, I realized I would rather spend my days doing something I love, and so Hampus Oberg Photography was born.

I offer online video or phone consultations for planning purposes for any of my wedding packages. I typically deliver high resolution digital images through a download link after any of my shoots, both portraits, headshot and weddings.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have been fully vaccinated with the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine, and always wear a mask and practice social distancing when photographing.
