About

I am a licensed professional counseling associate & nationally certified counselor with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I specialize in trauma, difficult life transitions and relationship problems. My trauma training includes EMDR which is the top treatment for PTSD. I enjoy working with individuals ages 6 and up. For children 6-12, I offer Art and Play therapy. I take an eclectic approach to psychotherapy, tailoring treatment to individuals using a variety of research-based therapies including Cognitive-Behavioral, Dialectical-Behavioral, Trauma-Focused, Gestalt and others. My Charlotte office is located at the intersection of Pineville-Matthews and Johnston roads. My Gaston County office is located in downtown Belmont. I can make house calls and I also offer video and teletherapy. Having worked as a journalist and as an educator, I believe in the value of narrative therapy and psychoeducation. As a Mom, wife, and the primary caregiver for three elderly parents, I understand the challenges of balancing work and the demands of family and relationships. I have experienced the benefits of counseling first-hand and recognize it as a powerful, positive and life-changing process. I count it a privilege to walk alongside my clients during life's challenges and hardships. My practice is entirely private-pay, but I can provide clients with paperwork to submit to their insurance providers for reimbursement.
