This is hands down the best bbq in Lawrence. Everything is good, but the chicken tacos blow me away. I never thought my “go to” would be tacos at a bbq joint but the smoked chicken make these tacos the best I’ve ever consumed in my whole life. SO GOOD!

very first time eating here ,will probably be the last, service was terrible and we just came in to pick up an order ,nothing was ready when they told us it was ,they acted like giving us bbq sauce to go was a huge deal even though we ordered a large amount of food. food was blah at best ,nothing was worth eating honestly, the chicken came pre sauced ? I assume to try to cover up the fact that it was very dry and pretty much tasteless...I have my doubts that this place will last very long with this kinda food and service going on More...

Ate lunch, gold medal plate with Brisket and Smoked Sausage. The sides were so flavorful and the meat had a perfect balance of rub/meat/fat/smoke. Both the brisket, and the sweet smoked sausage were scrumptious. Really appreciated the sauce, however this BBQ doesn’t need sauce it is on point by itself. I will be recommending friends and family. Wow! We’ve been wanting to try Gold Medal BBQ and were really impressed with our takeout order yesterday. The slab of ribs, pulled pork and chopped brisket were absolutely delicious…nice and moist, good smoke flavor and quality. I had a beer at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere while waiting for our order. Harrison took good care of me and answered my questions. We ordered baked beans, fries (love a crispy Krinkle cut!), and the sweet potato casserole is to die for! Reminds me of the sweet potato pie I used to get at soul food BBQ places when we lived in KC for years. They catered the wedding at the venue I work at this evening and they were fantastic! I’ve never had such a nice complete meal out of a food truck, it was absolutely delicious (and we see a lot of different catering companies! ). We went Friday evening, had a wonderful dinner! Could tell they’re understaffed (as most places, can’t blame the restaurant), but everyone was working really hard and did everything to give us a great evening. We shared the big plate with 4 meats and 4 sides, so good. The brisket was juicy, as was the chicken (which I often find dry). I went in for a late lunch with my wife and daughter around 3 PM this past Saturday. The atmosphere was great. The service was great despite only having been open for week. The portion sizes were perfect, especially for the price. I was very happy with that. But the food though... oh my. I spend a lot of time on a smoker personally and that is absolutely the best BBQ restaurant in town. There is nowhere else in town you can go sit down for some BBQ that good. We visited on Saturday evening around 6, they weren't busy, but the service was struggling big time. I know many people were frustrated and we saw a of issues during the time we were there. Luckily, we were not in a hurry and had plenty of time, so we took our time and ordered drinks, apps, and then food! The beignets were probably my favorite item - the brisket was my second favorite. What’s your signature dish?
Our brisket is our most popular meat. Between the sides it is a close tie between The Sweetie (sweet potato casserole) and the Southern Green beans.
How do you go about creating the perfect menu for your clients?
I like to speak with my clients and figure out what it is they are going for with their event. I ask their budget to know what to cut out or bring in.
What do you love most about your job?
I really love seeing the reaction of those who love our food. I feel like it’s very rewarding to see people enjoy something that we have prepared for them.

Food truck
Our Food truck will be set up at your event, serving your food of choice. Host can pre pay or guests can pay at window. When guests pay, a minimum will be required to be met at the end of the event.
