What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Being able to connect with your subject. 'Chemistry' is one of the most important aspects of getting a great photograph. The subject needs to feel good, at ease, natural ~ Once the 'chemistry' is established all else flows easily.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
It's important for the client to feel comfortable and trust working with me. I like getting to know them, their families, what they like to do in their free time, and the purpose of the project ~ i.e. professional shots, family photos. Building that 'chemistry' before the shoot is super important.
What do you love most about your job?
Using my creative talent to produce beautiful images and making my clients happy.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I traveled the world for a year after graduating from the University of Oregon. Upon returning home I knew the 'free spirit' in me would always be alive ~ starting my own photography business was one way of keeping that 'spirit' growing. Having my own business has given me the good fortune to work with amazing people over the years and to travel to many wonderful places on assignment.
