We had the opportunity to work with Bill Palicki & FloorOpedics twice in a little over a year. Back in January of 2016, FloorOpedics was highly recommended by a company that we were using to do a bathroom remodel on our first floor. We stated we wanted to replace carpeting we had on the main floor with engineered wood (we are on a slab) and the company sent us to FloorOpedics after we could not find the quality we wanted and needed at the big box stores. My husband and I met Iryl on our first visit and were extremely impressed by her knowledge of flooring and customer service (she's so sweet!). This company is located in Glen Ellyn and is family owned and operated since 1979. She sent us home with samples and when we picked out our engineered wood choice, she arranged to have Bill (the President of the company) come out and take measurements to see how much flooring we would need. Bill took the time to listen to our concerns and gave us the best options for us, taking into account that we are on a slab, have two teenage boys and a 150lb Bernese Mountain Dog. We ended up ordering Vintage/Muskoka Hickory Solid Sawn 7" wide plank engineered floors from FloorOpedics. We were told by our remodel company that FloorOpedics would be doing the installation of our flooring but at the last minute, this remodeling company told us we would be having the floors installed by our general contractor. We were very upset and frustrated and I can only imagine how FloorOpedics must have felt after doing all the measurements essentially for our remodeling company. Bill was very professional about the whole situation and our flooring arrived, we were thrilled and it was installed without issue by another company (not even our general contractor). Fast forward to April of 2017. We had a garage faucet pipe burst over the winter and did not realize that until we went to do some spring yard work. Being on a slab, the water flowed across the slab into our house and under our just over 1 year old flooring. The floor itself did amazingly well with the water after having water coming up between the boards, although we did clean up the water immediately. Highly recommend Vintage/Muskoka for people with moisture issues or concerns! Unfortunately, even after a restoration company came out and dried out the flooring itself, it was determined that moisture was trapped between the layers of underlayment under the flooring. The floors had to come out. Well we thankfully knew just who to call. FloorOpedics! Bill was extremely helpful through the whole claims process and worked quickly to get our new floors ordered for us. When it came to removal and installation time, it was determined that our original installers had not done all the proper leveling, even though we had paid for this leveling. Steve and Don recommended that a lot of additional leveling was needed for the proper flooring installation and to meet warranty requirements for the wood flooring. Steve, our installer, did an incredible job! We are so thrilled with the final results! We ordered the exact same flooring material, which we still love, but immediately noticed a much more solid installation, no low points, creaking. Professional, highly skilled and experienced installation makes all the difference in the world! I highly recommend and will be using FloorOpedics for all our future flooring and tile work. Did an excellent job. I needed my grout in my tile resealed in my walk in shower. I took multiple bids. Don's price was over $500 cheaper than the next person. He was prompt and worked hard! Quality of work was excellent. Would definitely recommend. More...
