I Frequent Elwood's and have never had anything bad off there menu.  My favorite is the Reuben with either corned beef or pastrami or both.  Can't go wrong with there pizza.  Their brisket is awesome.  Everyone I speak to says the fish and shrimp taco's are amazing ( I'm just not big fish eater).  If there is a down fall to Elwood's it would be the size of the restaurant which is rather small but their food is so good it keeps you coming back. Been quite a few times. Everything I've ever had was really good. Went recently after checking Yelp for the brunch menu and was suprised onsite by a few things. 1. The BYOV bloody mary is gone. They do sell other moxers like OJ and cranberry. 2. The menu for brunch is a bit visually misleading. You woild assume brunch covers the breakfast options as well. As is the B in brunch. Was visiting my daughter in Memphis with the wife, my sister and bro-in-law. Daughter heard about Elwoods and she loved it. She demanded we go on our visit and I'm  glad she did. It may be a shack(I've eaten in worse) but that was one damned fine bbq pork sandwich. The rest of our group had equally fine pizza. It was the best place we went and look forward to our return. Ah, yes.  The venerable Elwood's Shack.  Quintessentially Memphis.  One, its on Summer, which is kind of the hidden gem row of food eats in the metro area.  Two, its in the parking lot of a Lowe's (and they say location is everything...not when the food is this good).  I'd love to go into detail, but suffice it to say that EVERYTHING THEY OFFER IS DAMNED GOOD.  I offer five starts because I literally have no criticism based on personal experience (you can't blame a place for having a decent wait because other people- grumble- have tasted what I've found delicious and are willing to dig deep, find patience, and wait it out), only high praise.Their pizzas?   Delicious and a deal.  Sandwiches?  What's a kid of German decent supposed to do when looking for a decent Reuben in a BBQ dominated town?  Go to Elwood's Shack.  Trout?  I'm game.  On a taco?  Definitely game. We love Elwood's Shack! It's local and a neighborhood restaurant and to me these are the best. Yes it's in the parking lot at Lowe's but it has amazing food.  We have gone as earlier as lunch and at closing and always have fantastic food.  BLT, BBQ Nachos, Fish Tacos and the smoked chicken salad are all delicious and has a definite Memphis flavor.  It's not fancy but you will always get a great tasting meal.  I also love the diversity that you always find at Elwood's. Had an opportunity to visit a couple of BBQ places this past weekend in Memphis. Of the one's I had a chance to enjoy Elwoods was one of them. If you're looking for a national brand taste or pretentious attitude this isn't your place. However if you want down and dirty honest good tasting flavor go here. I had the redhead child sandwich which was really good.  Messy but excellent.  My wife had the Pulled Pork Pizza which also was extremely good. No one in our group was disappointed in our choices. This guy is from Austin, Texas. I'm from Austin, Texas. His bbq tastes like it. This place is imposing from the outside if you're not used to the looks, but just go in and you're taken right back to an ATX hole in the wall. It's great atmosphere, friendly, laid back service and great food. Feels like home. Great pricing. Secret little inside area has a huge TV, might actually be kind of fun to w a game here. Although I have one complaint, WHERE'S THE LONGHORN PENNANT FLAG!?!? Lol. Maybe I'll bring one in or I didn't see it Anyway, this my favorite BBQ in Memphis so far. Must go! Adding to review. Hadn't been in awhile because haven't been working construction this year. Since it's next to Lowe's great way get materials, nice break & something eat. Best of all it great food, nothing I ever got want always above or better than thought I was ordering. Never fails bring smile when I get it.
