Eco Custom Homes

We live in the Oakhurst area of Decatur and our house will be 100 years old this August. We hired Eco to do our most recent renovation which consisted of redefining our downstairs master suite and guest bath as well as adding a second story and carport. Both Jeff and Zach were wonderful to work with. Jeff is the paperwork and numbers guy, outlining the whole project in a organized and detailed software program "Co-Construct". With this program, it was easy to track the order in which the renovation elements would occur. Zach is the guy you see everyday on site, making sure that all is going according to plan. Their crew of Sammy, Gustavo and Justin were always accommodating and courteous (and entertaining!).

Being cautious throughout the process, I would often ask for mock ups of how something might look. More often than not, Zach and his crew would oblige. One example in particular was our new stairway. I had salvaged the staircase railings and banisters from my grandmother's circa 1820 row house in Gettysburg, PA. and wanted to reuse them. They were able to provide a mock up so I could see how it would "fit" before we actually proceeded with installation. It ended up being a beautiful combination of original and custom-matched reproduction pieces.

There were many things that made the renovation challenging but I always felt like I was in good hands with Jeff and Zach. The job was completed in about 7 months (as planned) and pretty much on target budget-wise. Overall, it was a positive experience and I will refer Eco to anybody and everybody. I have used Eco Custom homes for 2 remodeling projects and have been very pleased with the results. The first time we embarked on a complete home renovation that took about 4 months. Most recently we completed a home addition with Eco as well. These guys are very hands-on and were managing the project every step of the way. I particularly like that they bring creative solutions to problems as well as an aesthetic of a decorator. I was able to complete both projects without hiring a design eye as Zach Smith is better than most I have worked with. Jeff Dinkle and Zach Smith are very professional, and also have the very highest level of expertise in the area of high performance, "green" building. , if that is what you are looking for. These guys were great, we did a whole house remodel and couldn't be happier. We have done other projects with different builders in the past and were reluctant to take on such a large project. It was so refreshing to work with a builder that truly understood what we wanted from a design aspect and were able to execute within a tight budget and timeframe. They completed the job a few weeks ahead of time and the quality is top notch. We wont be doing any more remodeling for a long time but when we do we will definitely be calling ECO.
