KC Dawgs is awesome!!!!! They took our little meat head and in 4 weeks turned him into a well behaved pup that actually listens. He stopped his incessant barking, leash pulling and aggression towards everything unknown. Regan absolutely killed it with Moo (still our meat head at heart) and really helped my wife and I understand how we could continue to work with him to keep him rolling in the right direction. Thanks so much for everything we’ll be back soon for agility training!! More...

This is an awesome training facility with wonderful trainers. We took the puppy 101 class & learned a ton. We had Maureen & sometimes Mike. They were all very patient & knowledgeable. Their techniques work well and our puppy learned good behavior very quickly. I only wish I had found them sooner for our other doggie. I highly recommend them. Mo was so attentive to our needs, and did an excellent job with us as handlers, allowing us both to develop our skills and teach us how to train our dog. Their methods build effortlessly on each other week to week and I have seen such a wonderful change in our dog’s behavior and overall demeanor. I sent my 1-year old lab, Bucky, here over a year ago. When Bucky was a puppy, he was one of the hardest dogs I’ve ever owned. I taught him all the basic commands- but he only listened when he wanted to. After sending him to training with Mike for a month- Bucky now comes to work with me every day. He is our hospice emotional support animal. He is literally a perfect dog (not that he wasn’t before) but now he listens to everything, doesn’t need a leash, and he just hangs out next to me all the time. We did the Puppy 101 class with Maureen (Mo) and it was incredible. Mo was fantastic. We could not recommend her more. Her passion for training dogs was clear from day one and it was infectious. We, and our puppy, looked forward to class every week and we learned more than we even hoped. Our puppy is now, at 6 months, better trained than any dog we've ever had. Mo created a great environment where everyone in class was excited to learn and the puppies were so happy to be there. She knew every puppy and owner and was able to both teach the class and address every individual concern and question specific to one or more puppies. And she clearly cared so much about the puppies. Our puppy was overly sensitive to one specific technique when she had on her prong collar and Mo immediately saw that and adapted the technique for our puppy so that she was totally comfortable and happy. She truly couldn't have done a better job. More...

KC Dawgz worked wonders with my very reactive 6 year old male Bouvier. I had tried several other trainers (one of which purported to be a board and train facility). I spent thousands of dollars trying to get his issues under control. Nothing worked, in fact the problem escalated. I was very hesitant to try again and thought I just had to live with his reactivity. I met with Mike and he convinced me to try again. I took a couple private lessons and then decided to try the 2 week board and train. During the two weeks, they kept me updated on his progress and sent me videos of him in situations where he would normally be reacting. I picked him up at the end of the two weeks and thought I had a new dog. I am so excited to enjoy walking my boy, he no longer acts out when ever we encounter a person, dog or bike. He isn’t completely perfect YET, but his improvement is AMAZING Thanks Maureen you are a genius. More...

KC Dawgz was a wonderful experience from day 1, the weeks flew by and we were sad to no longer have class on Wednesday night. We took the Puppy 101 Class for our brand new rescue pup. Mo gave us tools to help redirect behavior and create a positive environment for our learning pup! Even though this was a group class, Mo knew each dog and each owner. She helped each family deal with their dogs on an individual level but at the same time learn from each other, as many of us were dealing with the same puppy behaviors. Mo gave us the foundational tools to communicate and gain control of our pet, but also appreciated her love for dogs and recognizes that they are pets and are will not always be perfect and it’s ok to have fun! I adopted Bayleigh, a rescue dog, in April. Despite her rough start in life (she had puppies when she was about 6-8 months old and was found living outdoors in filth), she is the sweetest, calmest dog. She would sit on command and walked well on a leash when I got her, but I didn't want to screw up her good behavior by being an ineffective and undisciplined dog owner. I signed up for one-on-one classes with Mo at KC Dawgz more for me than for Bayleigh! The private class is awesome because we can work on whatever behaviors pop up during the week that need attention (i.e., peeing on the carpet, digging in the yard, excessive chewing, etc.) Bayleigh and I have now past round 1 of the testing to be Pets for Life volunteers so we can visit nursing homes and hospitals. Mo is helping us become more disciplined in the weaker areas so we can pass our final test to be a therapy dog and handler. I can't say enough good things about our experience. Bayleigh is so excited to go to class every week and the training space is large and clean. The value of this kind of training over a group class at a big box retailer is huge. More...

I highly recommend KC Dawgz to any dog owner in need of help with training. My experience with them was nothing but positive. Mike clearly understands dogs and knows how to train them; and so does his staff, who are each friendly, hard-working, and passionate people. I put my dog in their 2-week board and train program and was amazed by home much they were able to teach and train him in that relatively short amount of time. Any honest dog trainer will tell you that they can only do so much - that it's up to you after the initial training to continue to reinforce their new behavior and integrate them back into your home. After the 2-week board & train program, they teach you the system that they use to train, provide you with the tools you need, and offer their continued help in the future. My only complaint is that in order to be able to successfully continue their training on your own, you need to purchase an E-collar (which costs a little over $200), and that wasn't discussed until after the training program. You could use other "positive punishment/negative reinforcement" tools, but an e-collar is what they use. Plus, e-collars do make dog training much more simple, so I would recommend one nonetheless. In conclusion, I looked around the KC area and compared dog trainers prior to working with Mike and his KC Dawgz team, and now that I have worked with them, I doubt that you could find a better board & train program in the state. Both are not customers. And one knows tons about dog training and is virtually an expert...but his girlfriend took her dog to someone else. Just strikes me as a made up review. But I digress. Maybe I can’t believe it because my experience was the exact opposite of what was described by the haters. Mike was awesome. Spent about 2 1/2 hours with me regarding my dog. Was overly transparent and open about his methods. And he actually stated electric collar would not be good for our dog. He also gave every insider detail on training. To the point that you could train your next dog based on how much information he shared. Not that I would. He was that good and professional that I will continue to use him. And I was totally against getting a trainer for my dog. Consider me a skeptic converted. He was awesome, professional, committed and passionate about dogs and training them. I could continue but I think you get the picture. Read any of the other reviews if you don’t. Thanks Mike!!!!! We have a totally different dog. At KC Dawgz we work with a range of dogs from those who are difficult and need training in order to stay with their family, to dogs who are easy to train and just need a tune up. We love being able to train people's dogs and then see the looks on the owners' faces when they see the difference. Boarding, Grooming, Daycare and Retail are also on our menu of services.

Our owner and head trainer is a former K9 Police Officer and Green Beret who has worked with dogs for years. This is not a job, it is a passion and a calling.

In addition to my professional experience with dogs, I have completed numerous dog training and certification courses and am certified to deliver any aspect of training using various methods.
