Today was our first time at daycare! Friendly and accommodating staff! My pup seemed very happy when I picked her up, and the staff gave kind comments about her temperament. The reason I can not in good conscious rate 5 stars is due the terrible stench of urine/ammonia that burns your nose when walking in. My pup absolutely reeked when I picked her. It was the last thing I wanted to smell on a 30 minute drive home, and a bath was not on the agenda after a long work day. Unfortunately, due to this reason we wouldn't take her back. Today was my first time visiting DogDays. I took my Maltese to have him groomed because I wasn't happy with his previous grooming salon. I don't know if I will ever take him anywhere else ever again! I was so impressed with the workers, the atmosphere, and the grooming job they did! He also was super happy when I got there and wasn't running away from their employees 10/10 would recommend if you're looking for a place that will keep your pet happy and have them leaving squeaky clean! If you love your dog, please do not take them here. First of all, we have 3 dogs and have given plenty of business to this place. I went out of country the beginning two weeks of this month, and had boarded my dog there. My dog is usually the one full of energy and very playful and the people working over there have mentioned to me as well, that he is very playful and running around all the time. After I got back from vacation. I paid close to $900 and picked him up, when I picked him up, he was half his size, his ribs were showing, he would not lift up his head, and he was limping. I asked them why he was limping, they said he bumped into something and they gave him a shot of benadryl. I figured he was home sick, and depressed because I had to leave him there for two weeks. I kept him at home and he would not eat and seemed very sick and weak. The next day I took him to the Rocky Ridge Animal Hospital, just to find out that he was running a 105 fever, and had some sort of infection. After blood work and X-ray, the doctors found an infection the size of an iphone, near his left shoulder(the one he injured) which had to be surgically removed. I don't understand how they failed to mention that my dog who is always running and jumping, had stopped eating and lost all his weight, and can barely lift up his head. My girlfriend was in town and they have her number, but they never called her about it either. Not only did it cost me thousands, but my pup went through a lot because of this. I have been bringing my 7 year old yellow lab mix, Fred, to Dog Days of Birmingham for about 6 years. Dog Days of Birmingham is the best doggie daycare/boarding facility we have ever used and we have used a lot. We travel a lot and compared to other dog daycare/boarding facilities, Dog Days of Birmingham is hands down the best. I love that the employees know my dog, and myself by name when we enter the dog. Fred gets SO excited when we even get close to Dog Days. His tail wags and he runs through the front door with tons of excitement. I know that my dog is well taken care of when he is in the hands of Dog Days. The staff is awesome, the whole idea of Dog Days is awesome. I love being able to see pictures on Facebook while I am away from him. Fred takes anxiety medicines and has heart issues. This is the only place I feel comfortable leaving him in care of with his medicine. You can tell the staff and owners TRULY care about the animals and clients. My shihtzu got her hair cut there for the first time today and it looks terrible. We provided a picture of what we wanted and it looks nothing like it. She has 2 bald spots on her back, her ears are uneven and they basically shaved all of her except her head. Just awful. More...

This was my first time using Dog Days, I left my two dogs for doggie daycare and when I went to pick them up they were absolutely covered in and reeking of urine. I have a small and a large dog and they were in separate play areas, so it was not just a fluke that one area was more crowded than the other or something. I should have suspected something since when I dropped them off in the morning the smell of urine and feces was permeating the waiting area, the receptionist stated that they had just started cleaning from overnight, apparently they need to work on their sanitation throughout the day.
