Find his website and look at his work/ shots  for yourself. He cares about actors and everyone who works or wants to work in this art form / business. I just finished another shoot with him and once again he is so patient and takes way, way more shots than I expected.  He is so down to earth - no hyper, phony sales pitch - he is a very, very talented photographer constantly looking at my face and expressions and how the light is looking through his  camera,  and he even agreed to work with me on the price since my finances are a little tight right now. If you are going to talk with a couple of photographers who truly specialize with actors and models, then do yourself a big favor and make sure that David is one of them. More...

I'm not sure I can say it any better than the other reviews I'm reading here.  David is an amazing headshot photographer who takes the time and effort to get fantastic results.  Both his personal and professional demeanor helped to make me feel at ease, and his commitment to his work is extremely admirable.  The world of entertainment is a relatively new one for me, and I've been fortunate to have some great experiences as I make the transition from Corporate America; this experience is definitely included. Simply put, David is awesome. My review is going to be a little different format than some.  I am going to paste below an email I sent to David after my photo shoot with him in 2014.  Then I'm going to include some additional details below it.Email Start:Hi David!  I just wanted to thank you so much for an awesome photo shoot.  This is the third time I have shot with you in the last ten years and each time you were fun to work with, made me feel so comfortable, and brought out the best in me.  I get nothing but compliments on my photos and they have definitely gotten me auditions. I got my most recent commercial agent through LACasting after he saw my new profile photo (shot by you).  He reached out to me after seeing my photos and resume.  He said he doesn't consider talent unless they have good photos and he loved the ones you shot.  I have shot with other photographers but I keep coming back to you because you really know how to capture my personality.  You also offer an amazing value.  I don't think there are many high quality photographers out there who charge as reasonable a price as you do, allow as many outfit changes (you said I could switch outfits as much as I wanted!), and even throw in 4-5 retouched photos!!!  You are a gem, and I am so glad that I found you.  I think I am going to shoot with you for the rest of my career.Email EndI first found out about David LaPorte in 2003.  I was attending a workshop by a well respected agent.  When asked which headshot photographers he recommended, the agent said that there were two photographers he recommended/considered the best.  One of those photographers was David LaPorte.  The other photographer shall remain nameless. I researched both of them and ultimately decided to go with David because he was around half the price of the other one (I was a starving artist after all! Quality is important but so is price!) and because when I met with him in person to see if I gelled with him before I decided whether or not I wanted to shoot with him, I could immediately tell that he genuinely cared about me as an individual and wanted me to succeed as a an actor and didn't simply see me as a "client."  Before David, I had shot with three other photographers.  Each of those photographers were good in their own way, but David exceeded them all in terms of the quality of his photos; in how fun, friendly, and helpful he was (offering advice on which outfits to use to capture both my essence and the types of characters I wanted to play); and in how much time he put into  the shoot.  I have never felt rushed because he truly takes his time to make you shine.  I remember him saying that he only schedules two photo shoots in any given day - one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  I think that's because he wants to make sure he has more than enough time with each person.  I've spent no less than 3 hours with him each time we've shot and I was able to get in all the outfits/looks I wanted and at the same time the photo sessions never felt long because I was having fun the entire time.  My last session with him he took about 2000 photos and sent me about 360 of those to choose from and there were so many good ones that it was difficult for me to narrow down the ones I wanted to use.  He is  both an amazing photographer/artist and a wonderful human being.  I'm telling you, if you shoot with him, you will be blown away. What an amazing photo session I had with David.  It felt as though I was hanging out with an old friend. David and Krystal, a makeup artist  he works with devote their talent towards making you feel and look your best. He has this uncanny ability  to really see you and capture the moment so who you are stands out. I have not seen anything like it.  Such a talented  photographer. David is one wonderful photographer. My daughter's manager recommended him to us, and we're thrilled. David took so many great head shots of my daughter, we didn't even know which one to pick! It's amazing to have options, and David gives you that. He's patient, he puts his subjects at ease, and he really gets the best out of everyone. After he took my daughter's head shots, we immediately made another appointment with David to have our family portraits taken. He'll be our go-to photographer from now on. What else can I say? David came so highly recommended to me by a friend that I flew from Boston to shoot with David.  I am not naturally comfortable taking photos, but David made the session feel effortless and brought out my true personality and made me feel instantly comfortable.  He has an incredible eye for lighting and will know what type of lighting and background works best with your attributes.  I went in with the mindset that I would be happy with even just two good headshots and left with over 30 shots that I, and others, felt were fantastic.  I highly recommend David and I will certainly go back to him for all my future photography needs. David LaPorte is arguably the most fantastic headshot photographer in Los Angeles. I had a session with him this week, per high recommendations from my roommate. As actors know, headshots are typically a stressful experience, with so much energy and money dedicated to a mere few (expensive) hours, the outcome of which may determine your rate of future bookings. No big deal. Even in past headshot sessions where I "ended up with" a good headshot, the experience itself was rarely one I'd willingly repeat. With David LaPorte, everything is different. When I first talked to him on the phone to schedule my session, he made it clear that If I wasn't feeling well on the day of the shoot, we could reschedule, no questions asked. He also didn't pressure me to get a makeup artist, which I found refreshing.The day of the shoot, I showed up nervous, as per usual. After I began talking to David, however, my fears faded away. He truly desired to know about me as a person, in order to capture my essence and energy in pictures. He began shooting as we talked, and I barely even registered that the camera was there. The 4 hours that we shot (yes, 4!) felt like 15 minutes. I don't even remember the camera being there: I just remember good conversation, and feeling like my "true self."Beyond that, his pictures are beautiful (no wonder!), and his rates are fantastic! I cannot believe his pricing! While most photographers adamantly adhere to a strict amount of "looks," David made it clear we would shoot until I had everything I needed, and that his promise of satisfaction was unconditional. Each time I thought we were done, he'd surprise me by saying, "Do you have anther look to try?" I ultimately ended with 6-7 looks under my belt, and feeling fantastic.When I reflect on my experience shooting with David LaPorte, I am filled with peace and serenity. Do not hesitate to book this photographer: he will find the incandescent radiance in your soul, so it can materialize in your headshots. He is not a "headshot factory," but rather a headshot artist.
