Daniel was absolutely amazing! He was willing to work with us from day one and helped us through the entire process, from meeting us at the beach for our engagement photos to the big day! Our photos are so beautiful and he captured every moment. I could not have asked for better shots! I highly recommend Daniel to anyone, he is totally worth it and will beautifully capture all your memorable moments!
Daniel was more than just a photographer on our Wedding day. All the groomsmen boutonnieres were pinned upside down and incorrectly. Daniel stepped in to pin the boutonnieres correctly and save the day. He gets to know you and the entire wedding party on a personal level. Daniel was involved in the entire wedding and made the day go seamlessly.
Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!

My husband and I are so happy that we went with Daniel. The photography and the wedding album was really important to both of us and we could not be more thrilled with the end result. The toughest part of the whole process was narrowing down from all the amazing photos to put together our album with Daniel.

Neither my husband and I are big about being photographed or being the center of attention- so it really helped doing engagement photos before the wedding to be more comfortable on the actual day. Daniel was really good at making us comfortable and forget that the camera was even there. In doing so, he captured some amazing and candid photos.

On the actual wedding day Daniel did an amazing job and made us and our guest feel very comfortable. He captured some beautiful moments at our wedding. My husband's Mom hates smiling for the camera if she knows she isn't being photographed but Daniels style helped capture some great photos of her smiling on our wedding day.

We are very happy with Daniel and get so many compliments on our beautiful wedding album! You can't go wrong with Daniel!

Daniel is an absolute professional and expert in his field. His eye for the best shot is uncanny and his style is very natural – none of his pictures are forced/cheesy – instead his pictures capture the best of his subjects in a very real way. The end result is pictures that evoke emotional responses and bring you back to the big day just by looking at them.

In addition to all of the above, from a practical standpoint, Daniel is also very good at “herding cats” which is something that you will need him to do on your big day (especially if you have a lot of different family/friends attending). He is in charge without being bossy and somehow manages to get everyone where they need to be while having a good time doing it. Bottom line, Daniel is the best at what he does and I highly recommend him!

We couldn't have been happier with Daniel McGarrity as our wedding photographer.

We met Daniel at our first bridal expo and immediately knew that we wanted him to photograph our special day. We met with a few other vendors there as well, which only highlighted how much Daniel stood out from the rest.

We had very little control over setting our actual wedding date, given that we were having our ceremony and reception at Oriole Park at Camden Yards and had to wait for the baseball schedule to be sorted out before finalizing our date. He was patient throughout the process and often checked in to make sure he would be available for the date we were assigned.

In the months leading up to the wedding, Daniel used his vast experience to offer various suggestions and bits of advice for wedding. He helped us create our timeline and acted as our "wedding planner" the day of our event as we did not have one. He kept everything running smoothly and always let us know when it was time to move on to the next item on our list.

He fit in wonderfully with our wedding parties and we received many compliments about his professionalism and dedication to his craft. He was able to chronicle one of the most important days of our lives without intruding.

Oh yeah... the pictures! Our pictures turned out amazing. From the first teaser picture he posted on Facebook, we've received countless compliments. He captured our wedding and unique venue perfectly. As someone who hates to take pictures and doesn't smile, he somehow managed to capture me smiling all day, without it looking forced or ingenuine.

We finally revisited all of our wedding pictures (thousands) to create our photobooks months later... Looking through the photos, we were able to relive our day in detail thanks to Daniel's amazing photos.

We couldn't recommend Daniel highly enough.

When my husband and I met Daniel, we knew right away that he was the right wedding photographer for us. We met him for an appointment in the studio in his house to see what he had to offer. We could tell from the sample photography he showed us that he catches all of the special moments where you can really see the twinkle in everyone’s eyes. He also is extremely easy to get along with, which is so important for a couple and their wedding photographer. The last thing you want is to feel awkward or uncomfortable telling your photographer how you feel on your wedding day. Daniel made us and all of our guests laugh and feel comfortable so that no one was camera-shy the day of the wedding. And, as expected, the pictures turned out great!
Not only did Daniel do a wonderful job photographing our wedding (and engagement photos!), but he also was extremely helpful with all things wedding-related. He was the first vendor that we booked for our wedding, and was always available to provide insight into any questions we had. He is always very responsive, which is so important when wedding nerves and stress start to get the best of you. We unfortunately had a couple of mishaps with some of our other vendors, and knew Daniel would be there to have our back and give us advice. He even spent the time to give us advice on our travels after the wedding, which was just an added bonus!
Thanks to Daniel, we have beautiful wedding photos that we will always cherish.

I am so glad that we chose Daniel McGarrity to be our wedding photographer. Daniel has a wealth of many years of experience that is evident in the quality of his work as well as the advisement he was able to offer my husband and I, as I struggled with making decisions about packages, timing, photo settings, etc. Daniel was able to extract from us our unique personal essence and taste, helping us to create memorable engagement and wedding photos.

It was also important to me that I genuinely liked my wedding photographer and trusted him to bring out the best in my husband (who hates having his picture taken) and I as well as our wedding party and family. Aside from being an excellent photographer, Daniel was essential in ensuring that our big day went smoothly even when it seemed that our timeline was falling apart as a result of hair and make up running late and it taking nearly half an hour for my bridal party to figure out how to button those vintage buttons on my dress. Daniel was able to get us back on schedule and corral my mother and get her to loosen up, when she was staring stiffly at the camera like one of the undead.

If you want beautiful, natural-looking photos that will tell story of your day in addition to someone who can advise you throughout the process, make you laugh, and take charge when he needs to, then Daniel McGarrity is the wedding photographer for you!

We could not be any more pleased with our photos or Daniel's professionalism. Daniel is a personable, funny and kind photographer who is very VERY good at his job. Daniel went out of his way to make sure he was well prepared for our wedding and knew exactly what we were looking for. He even came along for our walk-through so that he could see the venue prior to the wedding. It was his first wedding at this location and I am very thankful he took the time to come when he was not obligated. He truly did a wonderful job and by far exceeded our expectations. I also would like to note that we had a very large bridal party that may have been difficult to work with, yet Daniel had everyone focused and the photos turned out perfectly. His work speaks for its self and I would advise you to check out his website or Facebook page. After the wedding Daniel shared a few photos with us almost immediately and had all of our photos to us much faster than I expected. We are both very thankful to have found Daniel as our photographer and strongly recommend him.

Thanks again Daniel!

Absolutely the best!! From the very first meeting in his studio through putting together our wedding album, Daniel has been an absolute pleasure to work with! His attentive and professional manner made working with him a breeze! He was more than a photographer, providing recommendations for other vendors and lots of other helpful tips during our planning process (including to make sure we eat...LOL). The day of, we were amazed at how well he kept everything moving, especially during the lengthy list of formals we had! His humor kept it light so people did not feel rushed nor overwhelmed. In addition, we hardly even noticed that Daniel was there. He was unobtrusive, allowing us to enjoy our special day and allowing him to catch us in our natural, joyful state! When we saw the photos Daniel took, we were floored at how phenomenal they were! He captured the most amazing moments and did not miss a single photo that we "had to have". In fact, he provided more than that! I have looked at several photo scrolls that friends of mine had received from their photographers and I have always found myself wondering , "where is this photo, where is that one?" Never once did this ever cross my mind with Daniel. He more than exceeded our expectations! His attention to detail, lighting techniques, and just overall artistic ability really shined through in our photos! My husband did not meet Daniel prior to us booking him, so at first he was very skeptical about the price. Now, he tells everyone about how great our photographer was and that Daniel was worth every single penny! Hands down, he is our ONLY recommendation for a photographer! Pictures are a very important part of your wedding day and many years from now, they are the only thing that will help to recreate the memories of that very special day. You never have to worry about lighting because he can truly make any light work in an artful way. Daniel's specialty is capturing the essence of you as a couple, and those photos are so much more meaningful than a lot of staged poses though he will surely get all of your family shots as well. Although we were just married, Daniel really reminds you of that joy in every instruction. I will also say that his "yes we absolutely have to have that one" shot percentage for us was more than one per minute. Very high! Though it can be difficult to choose favorites lol. Daniel was absolutely wonderful, start to finish. From our very first phone conversation, wherein I peppered him with questions for over an hour, to Day-Of reassurance and after-the-fact follow-up, Daniel was patient, good-humored, and professional without being stiff. In addition to his photography skills, he offered various bits of welcome advice on everything from where to stay on our honeymoon (in Rome!) to good Rehearsal Dinner spots.

Daniel's work speaks for itself, but let me say - it is amazing, ranging from intimate, vignette-type portraits to architecturally-framed backdrops, sure to stun. His eye for detail and work with lighting are truly remarkable.

We hired Daniel for both our engagement session and our wedding, and are thrilled with the results. Personality-wise, he meshed well with us, and we felt quickly at ease with his easy-going, jokester manner. Daniel kept me on-track and calm Day-Of, without ever being overbearing or bossy. Even after my wedding, when I needed to vent a bit, he offered an ear and good advice. He is an all-around good guy and an absolutely amazing photographer. I can't recommend him enough!

Daniel was the best investment we made for our wedding by far. He was very friendly and knew how to communicate efficiently to our family, friends and especially to us. He takes the time and makes sure everything we wanted was captured and also other pictures we didn’t even know we wanted. He is very creative in the ways he took pictures and we liked every picture we had.

Even though he is just our photographer, he helped in every aspect during the day of. He gave us suggestions on where we should go to eat, where to take pictures, EVERYTHING. During our sessions, he showed so much excitement every time we took a good picture. This is something everyone should seek in their photographer, because it shows his passion in his work, and you can expect nothing but the best pictures.

Also as a note, my husband hates to smile during pictures, especially since he cannot smile where it does not look forced. He found ways to where he was able to make the pictures look more natural and got ways where it didn’t make my husband look awkward.

We especially liked that the pictures were natural and not staged. We didn't want a photographer to tell us to pretend to do something just to get a good picture. Daniel made everything come natural.

I cannot emphasis on how creative he was/is. He plays color schemes with perfection. We didn’t first understand why he told us to avoid some colors for our engagement pictures until we actually saw the pictures.. THEY WERE GREAT!!!

For everyone who is looking for a photographer for any occasion, just a piece of advice. Events only last for a moment, but pictures last a lifetime. Do not skimp on your photographer, you will truly regret that decision. You will not be disappointed with the quality and professionalism Daniel brings to his work.

Also, his assistant was great!

My fiancé HATES having his picture taken. So when we decided to get married and he knew that he was going to just have to suck it up for an entire day, a great photographer was on the top of my list. It was the only day, possibly in my entire life, where my fiancé was forced to have pictures taken and I wanted them to look freaking awesome. I needed a great photographer who had a calm and likeable but assertive manner.
To make things more difficult, we got married in Maryland but live in Seattle. Daniel was very responsive through phone/email so my mom and I met him. If you have a mom who enjoys being involved Daniel is a true pro at handling Moms- they’ll love him. Daniel was the only photographer I met with and it was enough that we booked him right there.
I often shut down when I feel overwhelmed. Daniel was very understanding and did a great job calming and reassuring me.
Somehow I “convinced” my fiancé to get engagement pictures (it involved a birthday request and some tears). Daniel flew to Seattle and shot some really great pictures. I’m so glad because it gave my fiancé a chance to get to know Daniel and be comfortable. We went to 4 different spots and took many different types of photos. Having the engagement session allowed me to figure out what type of photographs I prefer. I was a little surprised to find that I like more formal photos. Daniel was really good about incorporating this in our wedding photos by taking some gorgeous formal ones.
The wedding day was awesome and he captured the event, the feelings, and the atmosphere so well. He saved the day by whipping out a pair of Leatherman pliers when my dress zipper got seriously stuck. He also provided an impromptu cake-cutting lesson… who knew cutting a tiered cake was so involved. He blended in so well. I never noticed him unless I wanted to. He took some really gorgeous and amazing photos that I will always cherish and everyone who has seen them agrees. I highly recommend him!

Daniel is a phenomenal photographer! And a wonderful person too! As soon as we met with him the first time, we knew he was the photographer for us. He is professional, talented and creative and very fun to work with. I cannot recommend the engagement photos enough … my husband and I weren’t originally planning to do them, but Daniel convinced us and it was one of the best decisions we made! I left the engagement shoot, which we did in Fells Point, thinking “Our wedding photos will be beautiful and we are going to love having Daniel there on the big day!” That kind of peace of mind for a bride … priceless! On the wedding day he was fantastic … he kept my husband and I calm, kept everyone on schedule, kept the little kids laughing and went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly … including going to find the DJ when I got worried that the DJ had the wrong version of our father-daughter song. Daniel made sure we were his number one priority the whole day … he made sure we could relax and enjoy ourselves. And the photos … the photos are incredible! I don’t know how we’ll ever decide which ones to put in the album! We did photos with the bridal party in the Hampden area after the wedding … those photos would be better defined as art than as wedding pictures! They are gorgeous. I smile every time I look at our wedding photos. In 50 years, when the edges of our memories of our wedding day are starting to get a little fuzzy … we are so glad that we will be able to look back on Daniel’s photos and relive every beautiful moment of our special day! If you’re looking for a photographer to capture the “feeling” of your day, the moments big and small, the joy and antics of all your guests … I can’t imagine finding anyone better than Daniel! What can I say about Daniel? He is amazing! We interviewed several photgraphers during the wedding planning process and none of them compared to Daniel. At our initial meeting, Daniel made us feel very comfortable and we knew right away that he was the one for the job. He showed us albums from previous weddings he serviced and the pictures were breath taking. Through the whole process Daniel was very quick to get back to us if we had any questions. He was also very flexible throughout the whole process. On the day of the wedding, Daniel was on time and brought his assistant Andrew, who was a great addition. Daniel hung out with the girls while we got ready and was great with my god daughter, the flower girl! He even had a few supplies that we needed, like double sided tape and scissors! My husband and I decided that we wanted to do a first look. I was so nervous before I walked to see my groom, but Daniel was very reassuring and supportive, which eased my nerves a great deal. The first look turned out great and we are so glad we decided to do it! Daniel was great with the bridal party and was able to direct us with ease, and get lots of laughs out of us. When choosing a wedding photographer, it's important to hire someone that your personalities mesh with. We interviewed several different photographers and as soon as we met Daniel we knew he was the right fit for us. He has a fun personality and he is a very knowledgeable and talented photographer. We had never hired a photographer before so we were not sure the questions to ask, or what we needed to know. Daniel took over and was so helpful and informative about what it would be like on our wedding day, and what we needed to consider in hiring a photographer. He is very good at what he does, and he obviously enjoys it.
We had an engagement session with him and that's when we realized what a professional he really is. He made those awkward kissy poses seem natural for us and he really captured quality photographs. We were extremely happy with our engagement pictures and knew that our wedding pictures would be even better......and they were!
Daniel is very prompt, in fact whenever we had an appointment with him, he was always there early, waiting for us. A nice perk with Daniel's package is that he will visit your wedding venue with you before your wedding to scope out good spots for photos. This was important for us and it really helped on the wedding day to make the most of our time. We enjoyed our time with him and he even made the time to sit down and chat, and share a bottle of wine with us at the vineyard to get to know us.
On our wedding day, Daniel was a true professional and made us feel very comfortable. After your ceremony is a special time to just be together by yourselves for pictures and Daniel captured our love in those photos. Not only was Daniel great when dealing with us, but he excelled in dealing with all the different personalities in our wedding party. He was able to control the group, even after a night of drinking, and captured great pictures. Daniel has special tricks he uses in order to make people do things or act certain ways to make the pictures look like they're candid. We also received compliments from the owner of our venue about how great Daniel was to work with.
As far as price....you get what you pay for. Photography was not something we wanted to skimp on, because these pictures will last forever. Daniel offers competitive prices and really does an amazing job, taking his time with you and knowing what your personalities are like. Our engagement and wedding pictures were so good, our friends were jealous. We would recommend Daniel to anyone and we are grateful he was our wedding photographer!

When planning a wedding you have approximately 3,504,675.8 decisions to make. At some point you will have a minor (or major) breakdown and be totally overwhelmed by all the choices in each category (flowers, the dress, the hair, the bridal party, and the list goes on).

Let me make one choice a little easier for you. A good friend gave me this advice: the photos are what you will have forever. The flowers wither, the dress never gets worn again, the food gets eaten- therefore your most important vendor is your photographer.

Daniel McGarrity is basically a superhero. Seriously- ask him to unbutton his shirt and take off his glasses and see what happens.

He dealt with our crazy family, made everyone comfortable and produced hundreds of pics that are beautiful beyond words. He captured the day- every little detail and every special moment- with perfect elegance. Most importantly- he captured the “feel” of our wedding. I look thru my album and recall exactly how the emotions of the day unfolded: excitement, nervousness, some tears, and lots of laughs.

Our ceremony pictures are especially impressive since he documented the entrance, the vows, the kiss, etc, but I never even noticed him in the room. There was no annoying click and flash of the camera. It’s like he was invisible yet he was able to capture each special detail. That takes talent!

He took the time to get to know us and knew going into the day what we anticipated and how he could facilitate getting everyone together. His price was totally fair (especially compared to other DC area photographers who were total overpriced snobs) and I would have paid three times the amount he charged for the amazingness we got.

Do yourself a favor and meet this guy, see his work and then hire him immediately! Happy planning!

There are not enough words to describe Daniel McGarrity of Daniel McGarrity Photography. From the moment my husband and I first met Daniel, when he insisted on meeting at our house or another nearby location, rather than some stuffy office, Daniel made us feel comfortable. He assured us that every shot that we would want would be captured. Little did we know that that would involve outdoor pictures in the middle of a hurricane, but more on that later.

As friends advised us, it is imperative to choose a photographer that you truly enjoy being around, otherwise when you are tired, hungry, and stressed, the last thing that you will want to do is smile for your photographer. Daniel has an amazing rapport. Not only with us, but also our guests, and it shows in the pictures. So many of our guests came up to us after the wedding to say how wonderful Daniel was and that they wanted to hire him for their special occasions. Daniel is so engaging and managed to put even those who don’t enjoy having their picture taken (me included) at ease. There are no phony smiles in any of the pictures; everything is natural.

Daniel is also one of the most creative photographers we have ever met. Though he still gets the standard family pictures and some table shots if you want them, Daniel is a true artist. He knows how to pose his subjects and take advantage of various architectural features to take one-of-a-kind shots. For example, the shot of my husband and my leaning up together kissing in front of a long hallway full of columns was spectacular. As was the shot of us in the elevator at night leaving the reception.

Now, back to those outdoor shots in the middle of Hurricane Irene. We thought that Hurricane Irene’s surprise appearance had thrown our entire plan for outdoor pictures, well, out the door. But Daniel, who is quick on his feet and extremely creative, gave us a clear umbrella with an attached spotlight and asked us to walk out into the hotel courtyard. The resulting image of the two of us alone in the pitch black courtyard with a light shining down on us and slightly illuminated rain drops all around us was amazing. We didn’t get too wet and have one of the most beautiful pictures we could imagine.

We are so happy Daniel was able to celebrate our wedding with us and capture our special day with fun and unmatched creativity.

Daniel works hard at what he does and it shows, his images are spectacular and his fun/playful yet deliberate method is refreshing. It is clear he knows what he is doing. We have now seen the shots from our big day and we could not be happier. His artistic vision really shows through in his images and goes way beyond the typical wedding photos with more than a few that push into the realm of fine art. There was never a time from our engagement to wedding that I didn't rave about how awesome our photographer is. We first met Daniel at a bridal expo and he had a HUGE crowd around him. The reason - his personality. Daniel is so outgoing, and funny he drew us right in. We have a difficult family and knew with a personality like that he was perfect!!! Daniel concentrates only on what is most important - the bride and groom. He went out of his way to make sure our wedding day was amazing and we had a good time. He truly cares about his clients and it shows. There is absolutely nothing bad I can say about Daniel. All I can say is he is amazing, outstanding and we are lucky to have met him! More...

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with Daniel who photographed our engagement shoot and wedding day. If you don't have time to read the detailed comment below, just know that he is professional, highly talented, warm/friendly and funny, flexible in that he works with your schedule and location, and he knows his stuff! ! You can trust that he will do an amazing job on your big day and you won't have to worry about a thing.

FIRST MEETING/HIRING: We found out about Daniel from "The Knot" wedding magazine, where he had been listed/rated as one of the best photographers in the DC, MD, and VA area. I called and left a message to meet with Daniel and he promptly returned my called and a meeting was set soon thereafter. When I arrived at his studio, I was warmly greeted, given an overview of his services, and shown examples of his work. From looking at wedding albums that he actually shot and listening to him talk, it was obvious that he had a ton of experience and was very good at job. His pictures were amazing. I signed the contact the same day.

ENGAGEMENT SHOOT- Going into the process, I didn't know much about engagement shoots and was therefore not particularly interested in having one. After Daniel explained that while they are not necessary, the shoot serves as "practice" for the day of the wedding. In other words, it provides a chance for the couple to get used to (and comfortable with) taking pictures with a professional photographer and becoming acquainted with your wedding day photographer. I took Daniel's advice and he couldn't have been more right. Not only did my husband and I get to know Daniel ahead of the wedding, we also had AMAZING pictures and memories that came out of the experience. My husband even showed off the pictures to his friends and family -- and if you knew my husband, you would know that this was unusual, but he was really proud of the pictures.

Did I mention that Daniel traveled from DC to NY (where my and my husband live) for the engagement shoot He also arrived a couple hours early to scope out the neighborhood beforehand, so that when our meeting time arrived he knew exactly where to take us to get the BEST pictures in the area (i.e., the brooklyn bridge, a near by park, etc).

WEDDING DAY: Daniel shot our wedding day along with two of his assistants who were wonderful as well. The pictures that he took reflected the day, which was absolutely flawless and breathtaking. My husband and I just recently met with Daniel to pick out the pictures for the album and it was sooooo hard to choose the pictures because they were all amazing. I swear after clicking through each of the 2200 pictures he took I said, "ooooo, that's a nice one!!" Our parents and friends ended up contacting Daniel to purchase albums and pictures of their own because they were that amazing and high quality.

I could go on and on, but there's only so many ways I can articulate how pleased me and my husband were with having Daniel as our photographer. The wedding day goes by so fast so it's crucial that couples have quality pictures (that capture everything) to remember the day. Our families and guests, along with the bridal party, all commented on how friendly and funny Daniel was -- which is so important to have because he contributed to the joy and flow of the day in more ways than simply taking pictures. When my limo driver couldn't find the entrance to pick me and the bridesmaids up to go to the church, Daniel was on the phone with him within a second to give him directions so it was one less thing we had to worry about.

My husband and I are both very busy lawyers in nyc, so we needed a photographer who we could trust to get the job done, and done well, without us having to look over his shoulder. We couldn't have asked for a better photographer or a more enjoyable experience, and we promise you will not be disappointed either! :)

We interviewed several photographers for our wedding, but when we met Daniel, we knew our search was over he was so friendly, charming and funny and we knew that we wanted to be around a person like that on our wedding day. When we got our pictures back we were so pleased, the pictures were AMAZING!!! He captured all the right moments we didn’t even remember him taking certain pictures. Daniel‘s pictures really told the story of our wedding day and I am finding it hard to decide what pictures I want to print because they are all so great. Daniel's personality is great he is funny and he is all about making sure the bride is calm and happy. When my bridal party and I were getting ready to leave for the ceremony the limo had not arrived and we could not reach my wedding coordinator to find out the status. Before I could even get freaked out Daniel had went down stairs and asked the hotel if we could us their shuttle to take us to the ceremony. Because of Daniel's quick thinking my wedding started on time. I cannot say enough about Daniel he was accommodating in every way and I cannot wait to do additional family and maternity pictures with him. Our wedding was beautiful and I am so happy to have such gorgeous pictures to help us remember our day for years to come. If you go with Daniel you can NOT go wrong. More...

From the moment that we met Daniel, we knew that we wanted him to be our photgrapher; and after getting our pictures back today, we know we made the right decsion! The pictures were AMAZING!!! He captured all the right moments of the day, and tears sprung to my eyes looking at the pictures as I thought back to all our special moments. He's not your average photographer who is going to stage poses for your album. He's going to capture the feeling you want to have years down the line as you look at your pictures and think back to how incredible you felt that day.
Aside from all of that...Daniel is very responsive, we had our pictures back within 2 weeks. He's incredibly flexible, he drove 3 hours just to do our engagement session! He also worked the reception and formal pictures very professionally. We really appreciated all of his time and effort :)

Daniel took amazing shots! We met at a friend’s wedding and followed up with a meeting with him at Corner Bakery to discuss our upcoming wedding plans. We had the meeting in our neck of the woods, so right off the bat, he was accommodating. The selection and pricing in packages he had were a perfect fit for what we were looking for and at a very competitive price. He also brought hardcopy samples and his computer to show us more which was very helpful.

After quickly getting paperwork out of the way, we started off with an engagement session at a winery in Middleburg. We wanted a location with a country/rustic feel. The photos that he came back with were wonderful and a perfect mix of what we were looking for – artistic, with great scenery, and fun.

During full fledge wedding planning mode, we received helpful tips from Daniel to get organized. He was extremely attentive, returns your call and/or email immediately is the word that I will use here and remembers everything. For us, it was important to get coordinated, logistics and timetable wise, since we had a few locations involved with the big day: the ceremony was in Old Town, Alexandria with a reception in D.C. Prior to the ceremony, the bride and bridesmaids even got shots strolling around a few areas in Old Town away from the church site. Needless to say, we had great locations and a fun wedding party/guests but without a fabulous photographer, those memorable moments would not have been captured.

Check that off our list! Our shots are postcard quality and we had so many gorgeous ones to choose from. Hands down, this was a wonderful experience. What else could you ask for.

I cannot say enough great things about Daniel McGarrity; 5 stars are not enough! He is an amazing photographer, who has such a wonderfully, artistic eye. The pictures I\'ve seen so far of our wedding are fantastic, and I cherish them so much. Daniel was great to work with before the wedding - he is easy going, and he and my husband got along really well (TIP - ladies, you want your husbands-to-be to be comfortable with your photographer, the pictures will turn out best if he is!). We had such a fun time at our engagement session and got some excellent shots. Daniel created a sign-in book for our wedding with the pictures from the engagement shoot, which everyone loved! Our wedding was beautiful and I am so happy to have such gorgeous pictures to help us relieve the day. \r\n More...

Daniel McGarrity was a great photographer. We actually ended up ditching another photographer for him because he was very personable and was flexible on price. The entire wedding party and family loved him on the wedding day as he was very interactive with everyone. The pictures turned out great and we just met with him to make final selections for the photo album. He has a great creative flair that will make our albulm unique. We consider Daniel now a friend and look forward to hiring him for maternity, baby, and ultimately family pictures in the years to come. In addition to being a great photographer, he also played the role of wedding coordinator when the buttons on my dress were very hard to button...he had an extra crochet needle and coached my Man of Honor and Mom thru the process. A bride and groom place an exorbitant amount of trust in their photographer on their wedding day to capture memories meant to last a lifetime. Given the unique circumstances of my brother’s wedding, the stakes were even higher than usual.

This past October was an emotional roller coaster for my family. While I was thrilled for my brother to be committing himself to his bride, my happiness for him was marred by fear and uncertainty. Just months before the wedding, he permanently lost vision in one of his eyes as a product of Type I Diabetes. As a result of complications from the surgery to save his other eye, we learned that he would not be able to see anything more than vague shapes on his wedding day.

With this, the task of photographer Daniel McGarrity became not merely to capture the moments of the event, but to do so in a way that when my brother regained his vision, that he would be able to visually experience his wedding day for the first time; to fill in the gaps of what he could only surmise was happening around him as he struggled to find his way in the darkness and shadows his vision provided. Over and above the usual wedding day hubbub of helping to cut out extraneous bridesmaid dress straps and providing double-sided tape, Daniel offered a level of compassion, sensibility, and understanding that was beyond comforting. Beyond skillfully directing hordes of relatives through the formal shots and the like, he approached our situation with a sense of humor and charm that helped everyone feel more at ease.

I can most simply describe the images from the wedding as stunning. The photographs read like a compilation of stolen moments, with candid shots of the ecstatic couple beaming at each other, and family and friends basking in their admiration of the newlyweds. Daniel creatively and artfully tells the story not only of the wedding day, but of the love that my brother Vince and his wife Stacey share.

Since the wedding, and in true happy ending fashion, Vince’s vision has improved tremendously. The sadness I felt in my heart for my brother and his condition dissipated as I pored over hundreds of images from their day, which clearly evidenced a beautiful, honest, and sincere love story.

Daniel was simply fantastic. A true professional with a great sense of humor, a great eye and a really helpful sense of calm on the big day. He shot our wedding of 175 guests all alone, and was able to provide coverage of ever single aspect of the day. From the consultations and engagement session to the wedding day and post-production, Daniel was accessible, approachable and able to balance our wishes with his expert judgement. On the actual day, he was able to secure intimate shots of our ceremony without standing out and becoming the center of attention. We ordered a wedding album and parent albums through Daniel, and his work on this was also top-notch. When the first set of books came back and the photo quality was not up to par (due to the printer), Daniel rush ordered another set and they came out great. We also appreciated that Daniel arrived early for both the engagement session and wedding day, and he definitely stayed well beyond the time we had booked him for. If we were to do it all over again, we'd hire Daniel without hesitation. More...

I don't even know where to begin. From the moment my fiancé and I saw Daniel at a bridal show, we were instantly won over by his talent, enthusiasm and character. We had arranged an engagement session with him a month later in Old Town Alexandria and we had such an incredible time wandering the streets and finding the perfect little nooks that made our photos incredible. It's always a little strange to have someone take your picture while kissing but Daniel is as funny as he is disarming and it made the afternoon totally comfortable.

Our wedding was even more amazing. Daniel arrived early and helped my husband set up the chuppah since we were running a little behind time. He was there photographing every important moment and had everyone (including myself) in stitches. When you are practically shaking with nerves and excitement, I can't tell you what a relief it was. It was also hugely helpful to have him keep everyone focused and on target. Family photos have the tendency to get disorganized with so many people and Daniel took right over and helped us get in and out so we could enjoy the cocktail hour.
We scarcely noticed him the rest of the evening but we discovered just how much of the wedding he actually captured when we saw his blog the next day, (NEXT DAY brides! Do you know how rare that is?). My favorite photos were ones I had no idea he took!

Daniel is phenomenal and I hope you consider him for the most important day of your life. He is well worth it.

Daniel McGarrity did an excellent job at our wedding. To start, Daniel showed up hours early for the event, which proved to us that he is extremely reliable. During our formal photography sessions, he truly listened to our suggestions and requests, and he was willing to be flexible to meet our needs. Throughout the ceremony, dinner, and reception we barely noticed that he was there, but he seemed to capture every important moment of the evening. He even added a nice touch by showing the pre-ceremony photography on his iPad beside our personalized guest book (both of which got rave reviews from our guests). In addition to all this, our wedding venue was so impressed with his photography that they asked his permission to use his work from the evening in their own advertisement forums.

We were very glad to have chosen Daniel McGarrity as our photographer, and we definitely recommend him for your wedding or special event.

We had Daniel for the engagement session and his partner Chris for the Ceremony. They are both great to work with. Chris did an excellent job of capturing things that I did not even know he was photographing. He has an eye for detail, the best thing you can do is just do your thing and let them capture it, don't try and dictate what you think you want-they already know! We got a combination of formals and candids and he did a fantastic job.
One other thing I really liked about them is how quickly they responded to my inquiries. Daniel responded almost immediately to my initial inquiry and phoned within the hour. Everytime I have to email him he responds quickly and is very personable.

Words cannot express how much of an excellent person Daniel is!!! And yes, I said person, because he is much more than just a photographer. Daniel has been taking photos of us for nearly a year, including 2 engagement, maternity and newborn sessions/pictures. The pictures speak for themselves!! In the past, my husband was the typical man who just stood in front of the camera with no emotion and a stern face. But after working with Daniel, he LOVES the pictures of himself, and even smiles in most of them!!! He has a niche and is remarkably talented in capturing those moments that embody happiness and love! And for most people it can be quite challenging to be comfortable taking pictures, it was for me! He gives you guidance to help you to become comfortable in front of the camera. After a few minutes, its as if you don’t even realize he’s their capturing one of the most important moment in your life! So for me when I think of Daniel McGarrity, of course AMAZING PHOTOGRAPHER tops my list, but a close second, is a great person and friend! Daniel is an amazing photographer. He loves weddings. We liked him the first time we met him. We were very impressed with his work and his candid shots. He really got us comfortable in front of the camera with our engagement photos, which turned out great. I had two ceremonies, a Cambodian one and a "white dress" one before our reception. He came early in the morning and was with us through the night. He worked great with my photo crazed family. He got the shots that he needed and let them get the shots that they wanted as well. He took us to D.C. and got some really nice pictures there as well. We are very happy with Daniel, he has a great personality which was important to us. Daniel was AMAZING from Day 1. I was pretty sure that he would be the one when he offered to meet me "any day or night" for an initial consultation. I am a busy busy working woman, living in Charlottesville, Virginia, and I needed flexibility in my vendors to pull this wedding off. I was SURE he would be the one when he sat down with me to review my crazy Bollywood Indian wedding...and knew more about the series of events than I did!

Our engagement shoot was easy, comfortable, and produced beautiful pictures that Daniel turned into the "talk-of-the-town guest book." The wedding weekend shoot was...well...i just don't have words (but I do have beautiful pictures)!

I have never heard so many Indian folks compliment "that nice white photographer" about everything: his charm, sincerity, knowledge and respect for indian customs, and of course, his obvious talent. He completely won over our families, and that's not easy to do!

I recommend Daniel to any bride: indian, white, black, latina, with only one hesitation...I'm selfish and am sad that he won't be my personal photography secret!

Daniel was amazing and we absolutely love our pictures. Daniel even had a handfull of pictures up on his blog (along with a great blog entry including a fun synopsis of our event! ) on the same night as our wedding! When we got back from our honeymoon, he had over 1200(!!) of our pictures loaded onto a password protected website that we (and family/friends) could access and view our pictures on. He then sent us a flashdrive (along with all of the physical prints and albums we will be getting!) with all of the pictures!

Everyone, including other vendors (the ladies running the show at the Naval Academy chapel, our reception planner), members of the bridal party, family members and guests, commented on how much they enjoyed working with Daniel. He knew all of the details, came prepared and ready to do whatever needed to be done and captured all of the special moments from the day...including when our ring bearer needed to have a tooth pulled!

Overall, Daniel was a great addition to our wedding. He was so fun to have around - he made everyone feel comfortable in front of the camera and because of it, all of the pictures he took are beautiful. He was social, friendly and outgoing while also being completely professional. His photo-journalistic style was just what we wanted and the engagement session that he includes in all of his packages allowed us to get to know him and loosen up in front of the camera!

If I was planning my wedding all over again, I would do a few things differently. One thing I wouldn't change is my photographer and I highly recommend him! I am so happy that Daniel was our photographer and that we get to have the images he captured in our home forever. I cannot wait to get the albums and prints - in the meantime, we have the hard job of choosing which pictures to include (they're all amazing!).

Daniel was definitely a great choice for photographer for our wedding! He has a warm personality, is easy to talk to, and does and says the right things to get the best photos. We booked Daniel over a year before the wedding, and he shot our engagement photos as well. Although the wedding was in Alexandria, VA, he gladly drove up to our home just north of Philadelphia to meet with us two weeks before the wedding to work out the final details.

Our wedding day was WONDERFUL due to Daniel's work. He was already at the church when the bridesmaids and I arrived. We had a blast laughing with Daniel while he took photos of us getting ready. He lightened the mood and kept me from breaking down. My favorite was him telling me I looked horrible and ugly in my dress, just so that I would laugh instead of cry. After the ceremony, we breezed through the formals at the altar due to his preparation ahead of time. We got some fantastic photos with the wedding party after the formals. Daniel's creativity and eye for unique photos added a lot to our memories. Even our guests let us know how great he was.

While on our honeymoon, we were thrilled to receive an email from Daniel with a link to his blog with a sampling of his favorite photos from our wedding. He even posted the link on my Facebook page for family and friends to see. We made a special trip to the business center of our condo in Maui just to look at all the 800+ photos Daniel took. Some of the moments he was able to capture on camera were incredible!

Although his cost is a bit more than other photographers we met with, you definitely get what you pay for! I cannot wait to get started creating our wedding album with his fabulous photos. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Daniel McGarrity for your special event! We absolutely LOVED the outcome of choosing him!
