I honestly do not have enough words to express how amazing John and his team from Chowhound Gourmet are. From our first meeting with John, we saw his passion for food, and the food he presented at our wedding was INCREDIBLE. We seriously had people tell us they were "licking" their plates. John came up with a great menu for our cocktail hour, and dinner service. He has such a wide variety of different types of foods to pick from including vegan dishes. He was easy to work with throughout the entire process, and made our wedding so special. We would recommend him to ANYONE. He's not only a great caterer, he's a fantastic human being. The hardest part about Using Chowhound to cater your event, is deciding what foods to choose. Honestly, every dish is amazing and choosing what to serve is extremely difficult. Also, John is the nicest guy ever. He offers a wide variety of amazing foods that were so different from any other place we had tasted at a bridal vendor event. We received rave reviews about the food, and it was nice to truly have Chowhound be a part of such a special night. Unfortunately we were not able to use Chowhound Gourmet for our wedding day, but we would 100% recommend this company to any couple in need of a caterer for their special day! For our tasting, John stayed late one night to accommodate our schedules and cooked us an AMAZING meal. The food was so delicious, and definitely our favorite of all the tastings we had. The cost of his services are extremely fair, and you can tell that he genuinely cares about all of his brides and grooms. When our wedding venue closed unexpectedly, John reached out to us to ask what he could do to help. When we eventually decided to downsize and convert to a destination wedding, John was so understanding and graciously refunded our deposit. Holy moly. I am SO glad we had Chowhound Gourmet cater our wedding. It was absolutely even better than I could have imagined. John and his crew did a spectacular job and every single one of our guests raved about how good the food was! We had chosen some appetizers for our cocktail hour: pulled pork sliders, quesadillas, arancini and truffle devilled eggs. Such a huge hit and the perfect thing to hold over our guests until the dinner.For our dinner buffet we had boneless roasted chicken breast, roasted N.Y. strip loin (WOW!) which was sliced fresh by a chef, this was such an elegant and special touch for our guests. Also, we had green bean almonde, ziti pasta and potato au gratin (which my husband still dreams about to this day!). John even made a special plated salad course which was my late grandfather's special recipe, which meant a lot to me and my family.John is passionate, professional, kind and supremely helpful and I honestly can't say enough good things about Chowhound Gourmet. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer for any event, John is so accommodating and will make sure that your event is just what you dreamed of and make it personal. Wow. We hired JB Chowhound for our 200+ person wedding reception and it was one of the best decisions we made. John was so easy to work with, responsive, accommodating in every way including working within our budget. Pricing was so easy to understand compared to other caterers we looked at, and there were no hidden fees to surprise us at the end. The staff was wonderful and provided excellent service throughout. And most importantly, the food was incredible! We had so many compliments from our guests saying it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding and that the staff was amazing. It's been 3 weeks since our wedding and everyone is still raving about how good the food was. From our first tasting to exectution of the reception, John and his team was very responsive to our millions of questions and were very flexible to our requests. Due to our venue not having a kitchen, all of the food had to be cooked offsite, and we were nervous about the salmon being dry and the prime rib being overcooked. However, everything was cooked perfectly and was probably some of the best salmon we've ever had. John catered my daughters wedding on Saturday. He served a refined southern menu that complimented her “rustic glam” theme, which was an absolute hit! Many compliments were received that evening about the food and guests were amazed at the quality selections and perfectly seasoned dishes. My favorite was when a guest told me that “he normally didn’t care for wedding food, however this food was different.” He continued by saying, “I didn’t feel like I was at a wedding, I felt like I was at someone’s home being served a gourmet meal”. The best and easiest choice we made throughout the entire planning process was selecting Chowhound Gourmet as our caterer for my friend's wedding that took place last weekend.
