Capicua Latin restaurant was located beyond the Hampton Inn, where I stayed. Since I'd driven six hours, I was happy to find this spot on Yelp where I could walk instead of drive. I started out with a specialty drink, coquito, my favorite holiday drink! It was so good I had two lol. For dinner I ordered the stuffed portabello. I highly recommend this dish, both filling and deliscious! The bar tender talked me into trying a Dominican Republic soup, Sancocho. This soup helped warm me up. Plus, it had five or six different meats, small pieces of corn on the cob and plantains. The broth was very flavorful, and I enjoyed all the meats (even though I didn't know what all of them were lol). The restaurant was so pretty with all the holiday decorations and open concept in the center. It was a bit chilly, but the coquito and soup helped warmed me up. The bar tender was friendly and helpful with the menu. I will be back to try more menu items when I'm traveling through Mooresville again! More...

I recently visit some friends in the area and they took me to this restaurant. It is a hiden gem. Hidden because is not something you see from the road, you need to absoluty know that the place is here to find it. And a gem because everything we tried was AMAZING! We were a party of 7; so everyone ordered something different so we could share. The tacos, ceviche de chicharron and mofongo appetizers were delicious. For main couse we ordered oxtail, paella, lomo saltado, mar y tierra and 2 of the chef special of the day (rissotto with lamb and mash potato with bbq ribs) My favorite was the Chef special! (black beans risotto and lamb ribs with truffle) it was the best risotto I ever had. The touch of the sweet plantain hit the spot perfectly Cocktails we had were really good. The cherry on the top was the amazing desserts! WOW, best creme brulee, chocolate cheesecake and quesillo i ever had. Flavors and texture were amazing. Cant wait to come back and try other dishes. It really reminds me of our Dominican food but in a high cuisine. More...

I will be honest, I have to say that from my trip to North Carolina, what I loved the most was this restaurant. The atmosphere is excellent and the attention from the owners I have no way to describe, they are super friendly, the chef has excellent hands, his dishes are from another world, the bartender has drink combinations that are of another level, I have to highlight that they have full parking for your vehicles. If you go to North Carolina you have to make that stop by default, I recommend this place with my eyes closed. More...

WOW WOW WOW! This place is a hidden gem!!! Absolutely amazing food, drinks and service! Everyone is super hospitable and attentive. The arepas were extremely flavorful, a nice variety of chicken and shrimp. The Mar y Tierra with Mofongo was a 10/10. The tres leches was extremely moist, not too mushy. And the white sangria was a hit! I can't wait to go back and enjoy more of what the menu has to offer!! More...

My family and I recently visited Capicua Latin restaurant in Mooresville, NC, for lunch and left feeling extremely satisfied. The food was so delicious that we didn't even mind the slightly slow service. From the shrimp mofongo to the seafood paella, skirt steak, veggie burger, and bistec encebollado, each dish was packed with incredible flavor. The drinks were also exceptional and perfectly complemented our meal. We ended our lunch on a high note by indulging in the tres leches cake, which was an absolute delight. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated. Overall, I highly recommend Capicua Latin restaurant to anyone in the Mooresville area searching for amazing Latin cuisine. More...

It was a confirmed reservation but no one took the time to call to let us know that they couldn't accommodate us because they were closed. But I was going to let bygones be bygones until I started getting annoying texts letting me know about whatever specials and events they had. The food may be good, I don't know. Was really expecting more based on the reviews, but they all seem to be 5+ months old. Went here last night and was not impressed. I can see what they're trying to do with the interior decor, but paper towels to use as toilet paper in the women's bathroom? Come on. We had a party of 10 and the restaurant was very empty, so we were seated quickly. Service was great so I think they've been able to turn that around based on previous reviews. The waiters and kitchen were so nice that I am giving Capicua 2 stars instead of 1. Chicken wings with chili mango sauce were excellent and so were their soups, but that's about where it ended. The salmon and lobster came undercooked. Beware- the filet mignon comes out blue if you order rare, so order medium rare for pinkish rare. Everything else was either not seasoned enough or way too over seasoned. The waiter was so kind about it all though. It's about $20-30 person. More...

Thank goodness for Google! Our family is still fairly new to NC and we miss our Latin cuisine from back in NJ. We are Puerto Rican and don't see many local Latin restaurants. We were so happy to have found this place. We first stopped in back in November and practically ordered everything on the menu to go. The place is very pretty on the inside and nicely decorated. Jessica was very helpful in taking our order. It was a week before Thanksgiving and she advised of the dishes and desserts they were making should we need anything additional for the holiday. Thank goodness she did because Tres Leche was on that list and I had to have one. It's my favorite dessert! In addition to all the food we ordered to take home, we also ordered a tray of Tres Leche for pickup on Thanksgiving morning. It was the best Tres Leche I've ever had ! We stopped in again last week for the 2nd time and again ordered a bunch of food to go. Our family enjoyed it even more this second time around. I loved the leftover fried cheese and pieces of salami that I was able to warm up for breakfast the next day. 3rd time was a charm and we actually stopped in as a family and had dinner in person this past weekend. It was my mother in laws 75th birthday. Yet again everything was absolutely delicious! It was nice to eat in and hear the music and see the people. I feared this place didn't get a lot of business being tucked away and the times we stopped in maybe early but not many people would be dining. This time around there were butts in the chairs and food on their plates. You have to give this place a try! They are a hidden gem worth finding! You won't regret it! We're already eager to return again. More...

We had to raise out hands to be checked on as we needed something but nobody would come asking. Servers would pass by and just ignore. I wonder if they have proper training and how they would feel in our shoes. Food was another ordeal! We ordered appetizers that didn't come for a while and there comes the food right after. No time to enjoy???Could you just observe your customers and know when it's time to bring the next dish?I heard great things about the place, but I felt extremely disappointed. You may he wondering how busy the place was so that we could justify the long wait. I counted 21 free tables just from where I was. So, no, not a busy night for them. I can't even imagine service on a busy day. More...

A cousin from Puerto Rico recommended Capicua last night for dinner. I'm a huge fan of Caribbean-style food and was immediately excited. We arrived just before 6PM on a Saturday night for dinner service and observed that their parking lot was basically empty. I had two immediate thoughts: At least there shouldn't be a wait to be seated and oh no, is this a bad omen? Inside they were prepped for Valentine's week and had red-colored balloon arrangements and arches set up that contrasted the well-placed string lights. Candles and roses adorned the tables. Can you say BE MINE any cuter? As I suspected, we were able to be seated on arrival. And that's when my cousin explained that it was not a bad omen that the parking lot was empty. Apparently, around 9PM this place stays true to it's Latino roots and turns into a lively party spot with music and dancing. (Yes, I'll be heading back in the future to confirm that!!) I swear we got the best waiter EVER. He took amazing care to explain the menu, specials, and pricing. We ordered the Tostones y Chorizo, which were served to our table in a cute miniature ceramic pot. Both the tostones and the Chorizo were made into bite-sized pieces and were delicious but the tostones were THE BEST I've ever had! Somehow they were soft and fluffy on the inside but still had that satifying tostone crunch on the outside. I could have eaten more but was glad I didn't when the entree arrived! Check out the picture I posted that says Special OTD!!! The Valentine's special was the Mar y Tierra stacked onto a bed of Mofongo priced at $50 for 2 people. You can't beat that price!! The presentation of this dish was spectacular and the picture doesn't do it justice. The entree included your choice between three sauces. We wanted to try both the garlic and Alfredo sauce but settled on the garlic one. When our dishes came out, our waiter surprised us by giving us the two we wanted! They were amazing, but I think the Alfredo paired best with most of the items, especially the Mofongo. I'd like to gate keep this place because we enjoyed it so much, but they deserve a lot of love not only for cooking food that is dear to my heart, but for doing it so well! I can't wait to go back to join the 9PM party crowd, but I'll also go back and order something smaller so I can sample the Flan. I was entirely too full this time to even consider dessert! More...

Here you go- The service was very laxed, my friends really enjoyed their dishes from the goat stew to the meat empanadas to the ox tail stew and the Mofogo (my favorite of the night) ----but the meat skewers were very small with literally one bite of meat present that was dry and covered in oil- I would not recommend- nor would I recommend the cheese empanadas- way too doused in oil and cold without any flavor inside. The mojito and Moscow mule were on the sugary side and not good quality for the price tag in my opinion. I just wanted to start off by saying our server was lovely. We had a reservation and it took 20 minutes to be seated although the restaurant was empty. We did take into account that there was only one server but when we got to our seats, the booths were wood blocks that they spray-painted from Lowe's and the chairs had low backs, and felt like they came from the clearance rack of Walmart. we ordered appetizers when we sat down and it took two hours and 30 minutes to come out. Then our food took an extra hour to come out. The place is beautiful inside but when you closely inspect it and sit in the chairs, you quickly realize most of the finances went to the decor rather than comfort. Never enough really good Latin restaurants. Capicua is one of them. Servers politely ask your language of preference and make everyone feel welcome regardless of language spoken. My Spanish husband thoroughly enjoyed the Ropa Vieja. I suspect he would have licked the bowl clean if given the chance. I chose the Arepitas Venezolanas con Aji de Gallina (Venezuelan mini arepas with Peruvian pepper chicken) appetizer for my meal intending to save room for dessert. The arepitas arrived at the table hot and delicious. We ended up sharing them (he gets food envy) so we ordered Empanadas Dominicanas to share. We ended our visit by sharing Tarta La Vina which is a Spanish cheesecake topped with fruit. It wasn't overly sweet and was not as dense as your typical New York style cheesecake. Our server described the texture as Tres Leches meets cheesecake. I would agree with that. Either way everything was yummy and not a single crumb was left behind. It's definitely on our list to visit again very soon. I sure hope the community embraces them and they stay around for a long time. More...
