I cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience at Caffe Anello - John, Alyssa, Joe and Matt and our two wonderful servers were a pleasure to work with for my sister's bridal shower.  It by far surpassed our expectations!  The food was phenomenal - especially the pork chops!  All our guests could not stop raving about the taste and quality of everything, as well as the huge portions.  Without a doubt - the best Italian I've eaten in years~!My only complaint is that I live in South Jersey and can't make this a regular dining spot with my family.  We do plan on making the drive - knowing the fantastic meal that awaits once we arrive in Westwood.Their hospitality made us feel like family.  We will always remember how this added to my sister's special day. Outstanding meal and service! Fresh mozzarella and tomato for appetizer delish, halibut special for entree was fresh and fabulous. Rib eye entree portion is on smaller side but was also really great. Excellent choice, from start to finish. This was my third time eating at Caffé Anello since the end of June and each time I had a different main dish.  I would be hard pressed to say which was best, as all were delicious. Upon entry the owner makes each guest feel special as he escorts you to your table. The wait staff and servers are able to answer any and all questions regarding the menu and ingredients. You are afforded ample time to finish each course before the next is served.  We were a party of four with each ordering a different dish, all were served together with each thinking theirs was best. Went to Caffe Anello for the first time at their new location in Westwood. I loved their food and service at the previous location and, somehow, they have made things even better. Went here for the first time with my boyfriend to celebrate our anniversary, and boy do we want to go back! Right as we walked through the door, the owner greeted us and showed us to our table. He learned our names and kept checking on us throughout courses which made the atmosphere feel very welcoming and personable. Every table gets hot bread right out of the oven served with olive oil. To start, we spilt the meatballs with ricotta cheese. Amazing!! Not too filling but just hit the spot before our entrées. We ordered the cut ribeye steak and spaghetti garlic shrimp to share. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and we finished everything! We were a bit full toward the end, but we managed to make some room for the chocolate cake. It was so light and sweet - one of the best cakes I've ever tried! The BYOB is also a great aspect of the restaurant. We stayed almost until closing between enjoying the wine we brought and having conversations with the wait staff. Everyone should try this place at least once - I know I will go back at some point! It's not the easiest place to get a reservation for on the weekends, but when you do, it's well worth it. In their larger new space, they still definitely have the demand. Not a shocker due to its incredible food, service and byob of course. For the table, we started with the carbonara raviolis and burrata. No loser in this category. Both amazing. For my entree I got the veal special, which was paired with polenta. Possibly the best veal dish I've ever had in my life. Must go back for the veal. Without a doubt worth a visit. Staff and service were professional and prompt and everyone was extremely friendly. We came with a party of 7 so I can say we tasted a good variety of dishes that showcased the menu. Dinner starts with fresh made bread piping hot from the oven. The burrata arugula salad topped with truffle pearls was phenomenal. The meat and cheese board is a great sharing option. We also had several pastas and they came out perfect al dente. We ordered 2 steaks dry aged 28 days and this was the only disappointment of the night. They weren't bad but compared to the quality of the other starters and main entrees, they seemed lacking a bit of flavor. The steaks were also very thin (not like a thick cut you would get at a steakhouse) and one of the strips we ordered came on the plate a bit curled up like you made it at home on a pan. I was not expecting this for a $50 steak. The make their desserts in house and it shows. The strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake were excellent and I'm definitely going to explore whether they make whole cakes to take home since I believe they have a cafe next door. I moved to Westwood NJ just under a year ago. And the first place my wife and I dined at was Cafe Anello.  Since then it's truly been our go to spot. The people there are so nice. They remember your name at the door. They always greet you with a smile and most important they always make sure you have the time of your life. The food is always amazing. We had a lovely, delicious, and fun evening at Cafe Anello. The food was great. The service was great. The best part? Joey, the owner. A gentlemen, first class. He impressed me from the minute we walked into the restaurant. Unlike nearly all other restaurants, which, when you walk in, they ask you your name but don't tell you their name, Joe greeted us by saying, "Hi.  I'm Joe. What is your name?". He then interacted with everyone in our party of 4 on a first name basis throughout the evening the evening we met his wife, his daughter, and his mother-in-law ("la nonna"). Lovely family. We just had a great evening at Cafe Anello! It was a wonderful, delicious experience- from the moment we walked in the door and were cordially greeted by our host/owner Joe. Still my favorite restaurant in Westwood. Absolutely classic Italian cooked by Chef Johnny and Chef Matt, you feel as though you are a guest in Johnny's home kitchen. Each meal is hand crafted and the food is always fresh and spectacularly presented. Reservations a must although there are more tables in the new, charmingly comfortable location at 11 Madison Park. Most recently started with several appetizers, including the Fried Stem of Artichoke, Meatballs, and Bison Sausage over Mashed, which was a Special and a treat. Tried the Colorado Lamb Chops with polenta and I could not stop thinking about the dish for several days, although the Ravioli Pesto is my usual go-to. We also enjoy the Halibut when on special or one of the steaks. The Tiramisu is the lightest and finest I've ever eaten, however, my new favorite is the Lemon Meringue Cheesecake. Service from Tim, Sean is impeccable. Alyssa and Joe make you feel like family. BYOB keeps price reasonable. caffe anello's previous location was tiny, making getting a reservation difficult, but it's reputation was stellar.now, in their new larger space, we got a reservation for 4 last night (tuesday), and it was well worth the wait. it's a nice, unassuming space, comfortable, with great music playing.it's byob and we brought 2 bottles of good reds.their bread is out of this world, as is the butter, honey, pesto w/o nuts,  lemon olive oil and butter.the 4 of us shared bucatini and a salad.  great.3 of us each had the veal special with polenta, delicious.  my wife had a fish dish, which she also loved.we shared their nutella bread pudding (excellent) with coffee:  their coffee alone is very special.and to top it off, joe napolitan (the owner) and i talked about music (he's a drummer).sure to go back over and over. Came here yesterday for a birthday dinner with my family for the first time.  The owner saw us walk in, came straight over and introduced himself / shook our hands and asked our names.  Such a show of hospitality and service.1.  Service throughout the night was excellent - Sean was especially notable.2.  It is BYOB - there is a liquor store next store in case you forget (as we did.)  3.  The food is excellent - we're always hesitant to try new places because they've been few and far between to find in our northern Bergen County area with restaurants that try to be high quality but fail miserably.  This is not one of them.  We ordered:- Lamb chops; highly highly highly recommend.  It's just 2 large pieces, no sides, cooked medium rare - but the seasoning is perfection.  At my first my dad commented "this is it?!" and was skeptical, but one bite made him a believer.- Garlic Shrimp Spaghetti: okay; actually... oddly on the sweet side so maybe just not what we had in mind (savory) when you think of garlic shrimp- Buccatini Amatriciana: excellent, savory (as expected) - LI Duck: also excellent with a tangy side sauce (with a hint of Chinese orange duck sauce flavor-sweetness) on vegetable puree (seemed like sweet potatoe with cinnamon perhaps?) Will be back again!  How do I know? The ultimate test is asking my parents if they would take our VIP out of town guests that they normally have a hard time treating in the Bergen area, to this restaurant.  The answer was a resounding, "Yes!" It's been a long time since we've walked out of a local restaurant wanting to go back immediately, but I'm already thinking about when I can get back to Cafe Anello and try more of Chef John's amazing dishes. John and his Dad welcomed us into their new beautiful home with open arms the second we walked in. The room is beautiful and elegant but not stuffy at all. It was refreshing to sit at a table with plenty of space, comfortable chairs and able to see the menu without our iphone lights. I felt like our waiter was a bit distracted and maybe spread a little too thin, but he was knowledgeable about the food and the specials and when we asked his opinion on something and he didn't know the answer, he got the answer directly from the chef for us. The appetizers came out very quickly. We had the famous meatballs which did not disappoint. We also had the fried mozzarella with pancetta and the chorizo. All of the appetizers were delicious. My only complaint was that there were only 2 meatballs. Wished there were 3 or 4 so it was easier for the table to share. It seemed to take a bit long for the entrees to come out but they were worth the wait. Myy husband and my girlfriend had the ribeye which were cooked to perfection. They both felt the portion was a bit small for the price but it was delicious. I had the dirty pork chop which was delicious! It came with garlic brocolini that was cooked perfectly. Our other friend had one of the pastas. I didn't try it but he loved it. For dessert, my husband had the cannoli and my girlfriend had the strawberry shortcake and I had the dark hot cocoa. Everything was delicious. I was a bit disappointed that the chocolate cake offered on the menu had the raspberry compote on it as I don't love compote so I passed. John and the staff, checked on us a few times throughout our meal, thanked us for coming and really made it a point to learn our names and talk to us. That alone is a rarity these days anywhere, but especially in so many of our local restaurants. Overall, the price was fair. I thought the ribeye's were a bit expensive considering the portion but we will definitely be back...soon! More...
